This was my second visit at Bailey's veterinary clinic. I love the vet the first time when we were…read moregetting vaccinations for our cat. This visit was a little tougher. I called them that morning and let them know my cat needed to be seen by a vet and was in distress. They had me come right in on a standby appointment. I got there checked in and they took Bella back to be checked. They called me back to the room and agreed it was time to put her out of her pain. They brought the check out paperwork back to me to be handled so I didn't have to go back out after the procedure. I really appreciated that. The vet was the same one I saw before and was wonderful again. She handled it with gentle care. I definitely recommend Bailey's. I know people aren't fond of it being not locally owned, but I have to say the vets are top notch and very good people. They can handle whatever you need done. They are there for you and your fur babies.

I am only still a client here because I have absolutely no other choice. There are no veterinary…read moreclinics in my area accepting new clients, and that has been the case for at least the last five years. If I had another option, I would take it. Today's experience was just another example of how this clinic treats its customers. I drove 25 miles from Glide, paying nearly $5 a gallon for gas, specifically to have my dog's nails trimmed. The groomer advertises that nail trims are walk-in only and do not require an appointment. When I arrived, there was simply a sign on the door saying they were closed that day. I walked into the veterinary office and asked if someone could fit my dog in for a quick nail trim. I expected to pay the normal nail trim fee, and I had no problem doing so. Instead, I was told I would also have to pay a $25 walk-in fee. Charging a walk-in fee for a service that is specifically advertised as a walk-in service is ridiculous, especially when your own groomer is unexpectedly closed. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've left feeling taken advantage of. Several months ago, my dog accidentally got into marijuana brownies and became violently ill. The clinic recommended keeping him overnight for "observation." We later learned that no one is actually at the clinic overnight. We paid to leave him there, only to pick him up the next day covered in dried vomit, including inside his ears. He developed an ear infection that required another visit and another bill to treat. Over the years, I have come to believe this clinic will charge every fee it possibly can because it knows many of us have nowhere else to go. I have never felt genuine compassion, flexibility, or a willingness to work with clients. Every interaction seems to revolve around another charge instead of helping the animal or the owner. When you are one of the only veterinary clinics available for emergencies and walk-ins in this area, you have a responsibility to serve your community with fairness and compassion. Instead, I have repeatedly felt like this clinic takes advantage of the fact that its clients are effectively trapped. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but after years of experiences like these, I think other pet owners deserve to know what they may be dealing with.

THREE PROBLEMS We…read morewish we had have done our homework before experiencing the inhospitable treatment of both us and our 2 kittens. Since we are new to the area, (under 2 years) we were advised to go to DC Low-Cost Vetmore and like sheep we did. Our 2 kitty girls, just under 6 months of age went in to be fixed. We were told one price. When we arrived to pick them up, we were told now that it was $35 higher than the first amount we were given. When my husband told them that was $35 more than they had told us, they got snarky, indignant and clearly defensive! There was no need to react with such unprofessional behavior. We paid the amount, no problem, but NO one appreciates being told one price and then later told another. Then, they insult what intelligence we have combined by saying "no one there would have ever told us that price!" Hence the hushed hint of us being liars. What we think happened is that the first lady thought it was just one cat and not 2. (We did in fact tell the lady on the phone it was for 2 cats.) We made the mistake of not knowing the name of the woman there who gave us the first price. That was problem No. 1. Thus we come to problem No. 2. Picking up the crated kitties. Purrrrky was clearly unhappy and trying to adjust to coming out of her surgically induced kitty coma. Poor thing was hissing and could not settle in her crate. The lady who had been snarky with us, was also making rather unsympathetic mean comments about Purrrky being a mean cat. Wonder if she had ever had the human equivalent to what the kitty's just endured! Kitty Tilly was too groggy to move or express any discomfort. We didn't see problem No. 3 until we arrived home. We inspected the surgeries and on Tilly's tummy, there was the incision and near it were 3 burned patches of raw (postage stamp size) skin. The raw spots took 3 weeks to totally heal after scabbing over. We later learned that the surgery was performed by an elderly Veterinarian. Low-Cost is correct. Low in 'deed' and not worth the treatment by the staff. I will recommend almost anywhere but here. If you must go there, write down names and fee's and mind your animals manners!

They rudely said I had the choice to keep waiting or reschedule because there were a couple emergencies ahead of me. I said why didn't anyone come tell me this or call me. Followed by "The shoes came in but he (my husband) canceled the order". Seriously??? They're saying WE canceled an order we're anxiously awaiting????; "The shoes are no longer available" immediately followed by "The shoes are on back order." followed by "Your shoes are being shipped on a slow boat from China". Sadly, the biggest lie has been "We'll keep you posted on the progress of your shoe order". In all these months, we haven't gotten one single call from Hangar. Not one. Today the VA called them again and was told the order had been canceled months ago. No snow, no slow boat, no back order. Just arbitrarily canceled by Hangar without notifying us. The VA is now sending him to Spectrum -- a new prosthetics company in town. Hopefully they know what customer service is because Hangar has zero clue. For years, they were the only show in town but with this new company coming here, we have other options.
