Ok so this isn't in Cardiff but its pretty near and something I think everyone should do…read more Despite the fact that I got thrown of my horse onto the ground, this is one of the best riding experiences I have had. Just for the record being thrown happened because something spooked my horse. All of their horses are really well trained and you get a horse suited to your ability and size. So basically the ride involves wading through the river, walking through the sand dunes (canter if your experienced) and then you get to go onto the beach right up to the sea front if your horse is in the mood. I've ridden before and loved being able to have a gallop on the beach. Instructors stay with more nervous or less experienced riders, but still offer advice if our out of practice and need a few pointers. The views are stunning and you just know these are well looked after horses and are having as much fun as you are. 2 Hours costs £35 which is a bargain.

However I had a nasty accident and landed on my neck whilst on our trampoline. I rang that morning to cancel and apologise as I had to go to the hospital. Angela was blunt, rude and I ended up emotionally upset when the phone was put down. She told me I was not welcome to ride at their stables again which I have been doing so for the past 5 years (every time for my birthday). I feel I gave them sufficient notice so that the horses wouldn't have been tacked up ready for us and its not like we just didn't turn up. I am appauled by the lack of customer service or compassion. I will not be attending here again.

If you fancy getting fit in the great outdoors, then this is the place to go…read more Forget ancient old trekking ponies, this place has it all for the budding equestrian enthusiast. Whether you're an adult or a child, Liege Manor has a whole host of different lessons to fit in around your abilities and schedule. My best mate takes her daughter to this riding centre and I can't say enough good things about it. Lessons start at 7.30am and run well into the evening, and can be private, semi private or group. The instructors are fabulous, with many holding coveted awards for their experience. Patient, friendly and not at all intimidating, they make the lessons educational, but also great fun and rewarding. The horses and ponies are fantastic too, with horses that even compete at some of the biggest events around the country, a far cry from any other school I have visited in the South Wales area over the years. If lessons aren't your thing, Liege Manor have just started hacking groups that will see you taking in some of the very best of the Vale countryside. If you're a real enthusiast, then check out their horse and pony loan scheme and stable management classes. Watch out for their new state of the art viewing gallery and café area that will open soon! Ask to speak to the ever helpful Wendy for bookings and advice.

I'm absolutely shocked!!! Me and my little 3 year old daughter came here for a riding lesson. She…read moreusually rides at talygarn equestrian centre but today we decided to try another place for fun. we walked in and it was so expensive not happy. then we didn't have a clue where to go and ended up doing stable management!!! Finally my child got the plopped on a massive horse and it bucked!!! My poor angel fell off and broke her wrist!!! I would definitely recommend talygarn more as it's cheaper, better quality, nicer and bigger yard, lots of activities and overall a nicer place to be at.

Cardiff Riding School is set in a green oasis of parkland not far from the city centre, and…read moreattracts well qualified staff who offer private and group lessons for all levels of riders, from beginners upwards. You can also learn about stable management, and their courses are fantastic if you're planning to get your own horse at any point. There are about 40 horses stabled there, so it's a fairly big operation, and it's also well equipped with indoor and outdoor riding schools, areas to go hacking out, and some cross country facilities. Another thing worth knowing about this place if you have kids is that they can teach children from the age of four onwards, unlike many riding schools that can't / won't pay for the insurance for such young riders - but equally it caters for adult learners of any age. My riding instructor there was really professional, knew what she was doing, and got good results out of her classes - so I'd defintiely recommend this school if you're thinking of learning to ride. The prices are very reasonable for group lessons, too - £9.15 for 30 minutes, or £14.65 for 60 minutes. To get there from Gabalfa Roundabout, head to Tesco traffic lights, then go straight over the bridge, turn left into the park where the river bridge finishes, drive between two big pillars, and the Riding School is on the left after about 300 yards.

The teacher was so rude, and unhelpful, and she did not explain to her upfront what to do, like how to hold the rein on the horse for example your thumb needs to be pressed down firmly on the reins, and how to position your legs etc. AND then suddenly expecting her to run with the horse!! She was going to fall off the horse and nobody was next to her!! The teacher does not seem to care at all for the safety of the children, just an awful experience!!! They gave her the biggest pony ever, and she is very petite and one of her legs was coming off the stirrup iron all the time!! I Will not recommend anyone going there especially those who are beginners.

Chelsea-Leigh Bennett:) Sunday Girl:)…read more AMAZING! Ive been going to this stables for about 8-9 years and its brilliant! All the ponies are well cared for and are great to ride. The owner Bonnie can be strict at times but its just to get you to be the best you can be and it is also for yours and the horses safety. Its a great experience and i love to go every sunday. Its great for begginers and experienced riders both! The price is good and i find that at the end of every lesson i have a smile on my face:) People might think that the horses are 'plodders' as i have read on one previous comment but thats harsh as they are well looked after and are happy and friendly, and it all depends on how well you get them up together in the ride. I would highly recommend this stables for anyone, because it has helped me progress through the years and become a better horsewoman. Bonnie and Jordan are very friendly despite what people may say and i have had goods rides with them both. Every week i find myself learning something new and interesting. I never get tired of the lessons because i love horses so much and practise makes perfect. My favourite things to do in the lessons are: -jumping -bareback -canters -no stirrups and i like to ask bonnie to have hard rides as i like a challenge I love this stables and ive made lots of friends, horses included, if people dont like it here then thats there choice but i wouldnt go to any others stables. Amazing!
