There's a lovely cafe in the back, and a real range of things- from quality homewares, to clothes, and children's toys- with a really nice selection of cards and wrap too. I do like coming here on the run up to Christmas, as there are always lovely gifts and really beautiful decorations. It has been reduced in size slightly, but it's still a well tetris-ed expanse. There are two nice women's clothes boutiques in the other half of the old shop. In fact Yarm as a whole has had a boom in little fancy boutiques in recent years. Perhaps this explains why Strickland and Holt has had to reduce its size. Shame Stockton couldn't head in that direction too. Or is it possible to fit in another pound shop?

I've added Venus Trading to my 'goth shops' list as they do sell some goth-style clothing at the back of the shop. They tend to increase the stock of goth clothes during the Whitby Gothic Weekend (and it seems they also increase their prices too!). If you're looking for a gift that's a bit different for someone then this is the place to go. They also have some amusing greetings cards which I always check out when I visit. The clothing they sell varies from 'hippy' to 'goth' so you can definitely buy something that will make you stand out from the crowd here! I tend regularly visit to buy incense, make up and jewellery from Venus Trading but not clothing. They have some great clothes but they're all a bit out of my price range and, as it's not a big shop, they don't have a good range of sizes.
