In 2014 he did my left hip, in 2019 my right hip and in 2020 my right knee. All were total replacements. I could not be happier with each result and recommend him unconditionally. All of my surgeries were at the CJRI at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. While there I talked to several nurses and PT's. All agreed he was one of the top 2 or 3 orthopedic surgeons doing hips and knees in the area. He appears to do a very large number of hips and knees which is one of the things one wants in an orthopedist doing such procedures. My experience, and theirs, was that he combines an excellent surgical technique with a warm bedside manner, spending as much time answering questions and explaining all options and answering questions. I also found all the group's staff to be exceptional, from the PA's to the surgical schedulers. I cannot recommend Dr. Kennon more highly.

In an "hour-long" appointment I was lucky to get 2 minutes of face time with the doctor, who didn't seem particularly interested, just wanted to move on to the next patient. To add to the profit-drive factory farm feel, OAH (and OASC, which, somehow, is a completely separate entity from OAH - although of course they don't explain that to you) have extraordinarily opaque billing practices: In the 2 months since my surgery I have received bills for hundreds of dollars from at least 4 separate "companies" and counting. Along with assorted smaller bills. Follow up care has been disappointing - again, essentially zero time with the doctor (Dr. Stephen Davis) and, instead of referring me to PT or giving me exercises to do, Dr. Davis told me to look up exercises on YouTube. Not really the medical expertise I am looking for, or paying for to be honest. The only good thing is that the Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center is a beautiful facility. The OAH offices (Plainville, etc.) are your typical doctors offices, nothing special, if anything a little more worn and dated than I expected. In all, would not recommend unless they are your only option.

If you're looking for PT who will help you heal AND set you up for a life with less pain, see…read moreRichard at MovEvolution! Richard is an amazing physical therapist and is kind, patient, and knowledgeable and checks in with me each session to thoughtfully understand progress and any changes he should make to the plan. He combines various methods to give my injury/body what will help the most and helps me understand the what and why. I came to Richard after a very painful backpacking trip where I injured both ankles (Oh, how the swelling made my ankles disappear!) and had low back pain that was making it hard to walk comfortably. I knew I needed help healing, but I didn't understand what a very skilled and 'big picture/whole picture thinking' physical therapist could do. After just a month, I've been blown away at the results and process - he actually gave me hope that the pain I'd been dealing with would eventually be gone and I'd be even healthier and stronger than before! While I was convinced quickly to work with him I did want to understand my options before choosing a therapist so at the end of my first session, he told me listen, if you do decide to go somewhere else for PT and all they do is tell you to stretch your calves to heal the ankle, you should leave/don't go back to them. It is like he predicted the future, I went to [insert PT company name here] and all they told me was to stretch each calf for 2 minutes a day and come back in a week...I was already sold but just had to laugh at how clearly Richard's years of experience came through.

They are attentive and intuitive in diagnosis and treatment, and have done a great job not only treating the injured muscles and ligaments directly, but isolating and treating instability at the ankle which had caused the injury in the first place. They have also been very conscientious about maintaining a COVID-safe environment, making sure masks are worn and surfaces promptly disinfected.
