I needed a TIPM (Total Integrated Power Module) put into my Jeep. This shop was the only one who could get one in a timely manner. It arrived in a week. After it was installed, it needed to be reprogrammed, so they had a technician from Fitz's come out the next day to program it. I had to get a new TIPM because my driver side headlight went out. After it was programmed, the headlight still wouldn't light up. A TIPM is very expensive- it runs all electrical things in the vehicle. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. The manager, Charles called the District Manager, Jeff. Jeff met me there on the day that Fitz's was there and promised me that one way or the other he was going to get the problem fixed. Jeff really stepped up to the plate! He is a vehicle electrician, has experience with electronics in aircraft and cars. So, he knows his stuff. The next day, he spent about 1 1/2 hours working on my vehicle and had isolated the problem. But he needed to take it to another CarX shop, for the right tools. He followed me home and then took my Jeep to the other shop, and had the job completed in a little over an hour. All at no additional charge to me! So, yeah. I'm happy! Jeff, Charles and the other employees at this location are very professional and they have the tenacity to see a problem through until it is fixed. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Had a Carx ( 11420 Tesson Ferry) appointment at 9am to do an emissions test. I got there and they said they had no one to do the test. They said the person didn't show up. Ok things happen. BUT WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CALL ME!!! So I was sent to another Carx (Lemay Ferry thank for taking me) and because I didn't have an appointment I have an hour+ wait. When I talked to the service manager and asked why it would take so long. He said he had a lot going on it would be at least an hour. And then he said "I told them that". If I had known that I could of went home and waited. This is the second problem I have had with the Tesson Ferry Carx. Don't go there (Tesson Ferry Carx). Drive another 5 minutes and go to the Carx on Lemay Ferry. read more

Had great service. Had transmission flush done. The guy doing the flush actually showed me what the fluid looked like before, during the flush, and after completed. I called around for different pricing and they had the best price for the service and offered a free tire rotation as well which no one else did. Highly recommend them. read more

Had some much needed work done to the car. They call me and tell me a badly need rear brakes (I doubt now) and he quoted me a price of $99. I was billed $159.99 and they added an undisclosed rotor machining fee of $40. read more

Went here to get car diagnosed and they at first thought it was the converter. Than they stated and I quote " the timing belt is off a couple inches and needs to be reinstalled". They'd give me a break and do it for 300$. Mind you, we had told him this part had been replaced five years ago and if this was the issue that we would have had problems with it a long time ago I would expect. Anyways, took it to another mechanic and what they explained made much more sense and it was not the timing belt. So, if you can don't go to this place other than for an oil change or something simple. They screw you over to milk money from you bc you don't know better. read more

I just bought a new car. Three days later my check engine light came on. I called the warranty company and was instructed to take my car to Car-X...this location being the closest to my home. I called to set up an appointment and spoke with the manager, Rich. While he was not rude, he was not very friendly. I worked in customer service for many years and feel it is a very important part of running any successful business. Anyways, I dropped my car off and asked to be called when they figured out what the issue is. I waited 5+ hours with no call. I decided to call them and again spoke with Rich. After inquiring about my car he mumbled I didn't need to worry because he had contacted the warranty agency and they gave him the "go-ahead" to fix the problem. I asked him to tell me what the problem was, just so I knew. He continued to mumble something about an airflow sensor. I thanked him for his time and later that afternoon picked up my car. The NEXT day the check engine light came back on!!! I called again hoping to speak with someone nicer than Rich. This time I spoke with Jeff. He was GREAT - super nice and accommodating. He told me to bring my car in and they would take a look at it. Being a Saturday I knew they would most likely be busy. I called a few hours later to find out that it was the same problem - the mass airflow sensor. Jeff informed me the part they replaced the day before was faulty and that my air filter was saturated with oil from the "blow out," (whatever that means). He said they were working on it and would call me when it was ready to pick up. When I picked up my car I spoke with Jeff again he told me they replaced the sensor but not the air filter! I was kind of taken aback...why would they not have done that as well? To me an oil saturated air filter doesn't sound like a good thing. He told me that I could buy an air filter and replace it myself or have someone else do it. And while I've hear they are inexpensive and easy to replace, I don't feel like it's something I should have to do myself - when I brought my car in to be fixed. They didn't even ask! It was almost closing time so they wouldn't have had time to go back and do it, I guess? So, I left glad that it was fixed but a little annoyed about the whole air filter thing. So, this morning I had to drive someone to the airport and I was in my car for maybe 5 minutes and my check engine light came on AGAIN!! For the third day in a row!!! I was in total disbelief! I am so disappointed! I am taking my car to a mechanic who will fix my car the right way and not do the bare minimum to get my car out of their shop. I will never take my car here again nor will I recommend this business to anyone. read more

I live in rural Illinois--about 50 miles from this Car-X and will drive all the way to this shop again for any and all service I need on my vehicle. Dario was wonderful, caring and very upfront and honest with me. They completed a lot of work for me on my car and got it all done within one day. I had been an occasional customer of this place for a number of years, mostly for exhaust work since I did most of my brake work and other auto work myself. I do not own torches or a lift which is what you really need for exhaust work. Get a full time career, get married, get a house, kids, etc and spare auto DIY time gets scarce so brake work gets taken to shops. This is what soured me forever on Car-X. I have never felt more nickeled and dimed in my life which I why I make time to do my brake work again. They charged $30 per side to repack wheel bearings on my truck. Folks this is literally plopping the bearing into a tin of bearing grease and shoving it into your palm to work in the grease. Eight years olds can do this and I can for no cost at all. I can also get lifetime pads and/or shoes for $25 at O'Reilly's instead of $90 or $100. O'Reilly's will also turn my rotors and drums for $15 each instead of $45 each. I also do my own shocks and struts. I am thankful for stainless steel exhaust on cars made in the last 20 years so I don't have to have a reason to go to Car-X for that. I went there once when my Camry was acting like it had a transmission problem. The clown mechanic working there tried to convince me I needed serious transmission work. I new better and took it to the Toyota dealer where real mechanics work. Turned out to be a bad EGR sensor causing uneven throttle response at low speeds. Way cheaper than a new transmission. Car-X lost a regular customer for life. Good thing I am mechanically inclined and forced myself to make time. read more
