Rackley's offers some of *the best* service and staff of an auto shop I've ever encountered!…read more Veteran employee Zachary, up front, deserves more than 5 stars on the scale of professionalism, knowledge, friendliness, and work ethic. He is very communicative and he handles his workload like a champ. Over multiple visits I've sat in the shop for many hours and he works nonstop to make sure everyone's issues are handled even when there's a line out the door. Zach always answers my questions with poise. He goes above and beyond as well. For one job Zach helped work out some pain-staking details with a warranty company to cover shoddy work I had done at another shop, something he didn't have to do. Rackley's was able to fix this problem in a very quick time frame..."very quick" considering how many other vehicles they had on their docket! (Something to always note as a customer!) Nick, the tech who's worked on my car, is also extremely professional and friendly. He's got a lot of passion for his job. Nick was/is a perfect match for me since we both like the same make vehicle. Likely, Zach matched us up on purpose. Great! All around, Rackley's makes sure I am fully taken care of and driving a safe vehicle. Everyone I've met at the shop is happy, and fun and easy to talk to. They have a loooong line of loyal customers out the door almost all the time and I completely understand why. I'm so happy to have found these guys. I've been to them a few times now and each time I am satisfied. Cannot recommend Rackley's enough. Thank y'all so much! Absolutely awesome.

Rackley's is shady. I called Rackley's on a Monday to schedule a time to drop my car off and was…read moretold to bring it in Wednesday morning. I dropped my car off Wednesday morning and was told "we can't get to it today but we'll call you tomorrow". I left Rackley's with instructions to let me know the cost and nature of repairs before performing any work and was assured that this would happen(it didn't). I get a call later from Zach to ask why my car is there(again) and am told(again) that they'll call me and let me know what they find. After hearing nothing for three days I call Rackley's on a Saturday to find out what's going on with my car and am told they finished the work(!) and that someone will totally call me Monday morning when it's ready to be picked up. Of course, Rackley's fails to call Monday morning so I give them a ring a couple hours before they close and they tell me my car still needs work(?) and that after Zach checks on something they'll call me right back. Rackley's never calls back and I have to call them, yet again, and tell them to stop whatever they're doing and that I'm on my way to pick up my car. I'm floored by the lack of communication and professionalism from Rackley's and despite living within walking distance will never use them again.

Daughter went off to college at UNCW. I usually do most repairs myself but the distance was an issue. Glad we found a Honda specialist! When we replaced the Civic with a Nissan Cube, Auto Tech proved to be THE place again! Nissan wanted $450 to replace the valve gasket because you have to remove the intake manifold to get to it. Auto Tech did put for under $200. I've trusted my daughter's car her all throughout college. No up charges and honest repairs done right the first time! Thanks Chris and team! 12/4/2020 Update Chis is amazing! We had a recent issue with head gasket failure. Essentially the previous work performed by Auto Tech was flawless but the part failed. The problem is my daughter graduated UNCW and is now living in Charlotte, 200 miles away! What a quandary! Chris went above and beyond by contacting the NAPA supplier and through his network membership with NAPA, offered a remote NAPA warranty solution where a shop here in Charlotte was paid to perform the work. Kudos to NAPA for standing behind their product and special thanks to Chris for standing behind his commitment to customers, even though we are 200 miles apart! This is customer service and integrity at its best! I feel any other shop would not have gone the extra mile to make things right! Christmas came early for my daughter this years and "Chris" played the role of Santa "Chris" Kringle!

Decided to try this place out since some people recommended it on Facebook. Wish I never had…read more I made an appointment at 3:30pm two days in advance and talked about what I needed done: oil change, maybe filters, and to look at issue of a drive belt and tensioner since it has been making a noise. They close pretty early at 5:00 p.m. so they didn't mention anything about time constraints. When I arrived, the owner Rafik seemed to have forgotten that I even made the appointment. And actually when I arrived there was no one there to help me until their next door neighbor that they apparently share the computer with had come in and didn't even acknowledge me either. Then finally Yasmin, the front staff and Rafik arrive to help me. They have a very small waiting area but I figured I wait it out since they would close in an hour and a half of my appointment. They have a door that separates the working area from the waiting area. At least once every like 2 minutes, so many people were going in and out and would just slam the door. I have never come across people that had no disregard for the loud noise that slamming a door makes! Every time the door slammed, the noise would reverberate through the walls. It was so annoying I waited outside on their one table but then it got too cold so I had to go wait back inside. It didn't help that there were two of their kids there, who were some of the people going in and out through the door frequently. So they ended up taking longer than an hour and a half to do everything which was fine. Yasmin tells me that I need to have my front rear brakes as they only have 15% life left and the filters changed. I decided to hold off on them. They told me my car is done so as I'm in the middle of paying and getting my car back, I hear my car running in their work area and the same noise it has been having. I ask Yasmin why is my car still making that noise. And then Rafik comes out to tell me that I still need a lot more work done on my car, including the water pump and that this is an emergency procedure that needs to be done right away. When Rafik and Yasmin tell me what needs to be done on my car, they sound very confident and can make you falsely believe that they know what they're talking about. So Rafik says this will be a long procedure, which is not convenient with my schedule. They don't offer a loaner but Rafik was nice enough to offer to pick up my car and drop it off for me. He lives in Carolina Beach so it would be easy for him to do that as I live in Carolina Beach as well. This is when I find out that Rafik used to be the same owner as Pleasure Island Automotive on Carolina Beach. Pleasure Island Automotive had some bad reviews so it makes me second guess Rafik's recommendations. I decide to go to Stevenson-Hendrickson Honda to get a 2nd opinion. Stevenson-Hendrickson Honda is where I usually get my work done and I regret cheating on them. So Honda tells me the only air filter I would need to change soon would be my cabin air filter which I can wait till my next oil change to do. My front brakes also don't need to be changed right away, I still have a little bit of life left in them-The brakes were at 4mm. There's also nothing that needed to be fixed with the water pump. Well, I can give Rafik the benefit of the doubt and say maybe his recommendations were just his personal opinion. Regardless, their recommendations will rack up an expensive bill that can break your bank. The only good thing about the whole experience was they gave me a discount for being a first-time customer. Too bad I won't be a repeat customer!!

I have been taken advantage of in the past at other dealerships so I tend to not trust them (example: I was quoted a $400+ extensive repair only to learn somewhere else that I needed a $75 relay part with less than $100 in labor). Our neighbors recommended Performance Auto to us so I brought the car over there. Pricing aside, the guys there are so great (I've mostly dealt with Chris). I felt like I was being spoken to honestly and treated with respect. My daughter's car was successfully repaired in a timely manner and we were very happy. Weeks later, MY car breaks down days after a 100K mile service, costing over $700 at the dealership which repaired it. I had the car towed back to the dealership to find out what had gone wrong only to be given a new diagnosis with a major repair of well over $1000. I decided to instead have the car towed over to Performance Auto. They confirmed that the diagnosis was correct but also gave me some other important information and recommendations around the repair that the dealership failed to mention at a much higher price tag!! So I had 2 cars in 6 weeks, all around the holidays, that had major repairs completed at Performance Auto. I paid significantly less (25-30%), was treated with respect and communicated with throughout. Unless we have a recall that requires us to take our cars to someplace else, Performance Auto is our new go to guys!
