Saturday visit, checking out a place we have been by but never stopped. Today was the day. Here is what we liked: * Definitely that small town local hang out vibe. Mix of older patrons and younger. * Variety of seating - we chose the bar. * Couple older guys next to us, looked grumpy but were incredibly nice and had a good conversation * All your normal beer and alcohol selections. Nothing fancy. Beer was cold. * service at the bar was friendly and attentive * Got a sample platter with all the fried foods. They were as you would expect What could of been better: * The house made battered mushroom were heavy on an almost wheat type of breading. This place was nothing fancy, exactly what you would expect from a local dive. Noticed they had some awards posted for the pizza- guess we have to come back and try it. read more

I ordered the Kraken Burger Challenge but I didn't do the 15 minute challenge. I wanted to enjoy the burger and fries. Nothing outstanding about either. Good though. I may have been able to beat the challenge, maybe another time. Service was very good. Kelly the bartender was friendly. Met the new bartender Brook. Nice young lady. I DO NOT recommend letting the barmaids boyfriend talk to you. Her name is Jamee, his name is Dave. Jamee will NOT believe you even if you insist you are not interested in her marriage problems or her Boyfriend. Get up, Walk away, Tell him "NO!" be heard telling him "No!" or next you'll get attitude from Jamee that never stops, and eventually your employer will be harassed until you are fired. That's what happened to me. Jamee's boyfriend is overly friendly, she hates it. They have already hurt the bar business before and it goes unpunished, then she and/or her friends harassed Spentech as well thinking I didn't make it clear enough that I was not interested in her boyfriend, her husband or her problems. Think about it logically, this bar maid either harassed a multimillion dollar engineering company herself, or had someone else do it, all because she thought I as twice a week "eat, drink & leave" customer liked her boyfriend, who wasn't even my type. I had to eventually contact police once I got fired because a barmaid threatened my employment over jealousy issues. Is sitting in the wrong place during lunch or dinner wearing a company jacket really worth the risk? No, the food isn't that good and having bartenders known to threaten and harass the customers at random is a safety risk nobody needs to support. Don't let them hurt your employers out of spite or jealousy. I learned why people prefer to go elsewhere the hard way, but I ended up with a better job and knowing why only a certain type of crowd stays true to Captains Quarters, the kind good honest folks stay away from. Marry Lee will allow her workers to lie, stalk & threaten customers knowing the workers acted wrongly and it will continue. That is bad business which nobody needs to put up with. read more

You know what you see is what you get. My expectations weren't high but I figured hey it's lunch, who cares. Ordered sampler platter. Everything (mini tacos, wings, onion rings,) sooooo over cooked. The oil tasted old and burnt. Then ordered Stromboli and it was basic and average also ordered chicken Alfredo flat bread pizza and it had some indescribable funky after taste. Literally ate one piece. Ordered bottle beer, barely cold. On the upside; all the patrons knew each other and were happy. The barmaid was excellent, she was taking care of the entire place with ease and was very friendly. She seen I didn't eat the pizza and took it off our bill. The floors looked very clean. So in short it's just a local neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name. I'm sure the food would be the bomb if you were drunk. Probably won't be back. read more

There is no excuse for the poor service we had there,,, half the order was served, the other half took 20 minutes later to be served,,, and nothing but excuses from the barmaid.. We drive by this place pretty regularly and have noticed that the parking lot stays pretty full. The patio is always hopping in the warm months too. We were looking to try something new, so I pulled up the Yelp reviews and decided to give it a go. It's a bar. Like a bar, bar. It's dark, beer was cold, food was average bar fare. Prices were very reasonable, especially the beer. They have a stage and have bands sometimes. They also have a bike night. The bartender and patrons at the bar were all super friendly. I would not recommend this place for small children or anyone who has an issue with foul language. I will go back, even if it's just to "people watch". read more

Should have trusted my instinct and left when our group of 7 we came in for dinner and drinks and the waitress said we had to give her our credit card or pay cash for each drink as they brought them out. WTF! 6 people got their entrees 40 minutes after their orders were place, I had to wait an hour! Waitress said that the cook could only cook one thing at a time. My Philly Cheese sandwich was burned meat, my wife's quesadilla was small and lame. Lousy beer selection, waitress sat at a table texting while I'm waiting an hour for a simple sandwich. Captain's Quarters now offers Live Band Karaoke on Thursdays! You can sing or jam with the band! Being a rock star for the evening is such a great stress reliever! I had the good fortune to be accompanied by Reichlin Small (Big Rich). If you can get Big Rich to accompany you, please do so because he is awesome! Big Rich plays more instruments than you can count. Totally worth the trip if you are lucky enough to experience his musical genius in action. Beware of the water, though. Burton's water source is of the well, therefore, not the best tasting if you are not used to the flavor associated with this water source. I choose safe, water-free options such as whiskey. Eat prior to your visit because there are very limited food options. Nachos seemed to be the safest option for me since I am a vegetarian. Captain's Quarters is a great venue for live music and traditional Karaoke. They also have WiFi for those who must always remain "connected". read more

I drive by this place a lot and was always curious what it was like inside. If you hang out in Flint, it's a mix between Timothy's Pub and the White Horse. The place definitely had it's regulars and there were quite a few bikers. I didn't quite fit in but I didn't feel like an outcast either. A 22 oz mug of Sam Adams Octoberfest, $4! Can't beat that. The pool table seemed to be the hot spot and the table full of drunk 60 yr old raunchy ladies totally made my night. God love em'! read more
