My sister and I eat at Captain D's at least three times a month, so we have plenty of experience with the brand. We normally visit the Riverdale location near our home, but because we're temporarily staying in the Newnan area, we've visited this location twice already. Both visits were excellent from start to finish. We ordered through the drive-thru each time, and the customer service was outstanding. The weather has been extremely hot, and we each ordered a drink with our meals. Without us even asking, the employee included an extra cup of ice for each of us. It was such a thoughtful gesture that really made our day. We both ordered the 2-piece fish and fries with an order of fried shrimp. The attendant asked what condiments we wanted, and we requested tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Not only did she make sure we had plenty of tartar sauce and malt vinegar, but she also added ketchup and cocktail sauce without us having to ask. That kind of attention to detail is rare. Another thing that impressed us was that our bags included everything we needed--straws, plastic cutlery, and all of our condiments. Unfortunately, that's not always the case at the Captain D's we usually visit in Riverdale, where it's common for something to be missing. Best of all, our food was hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly on both visits. Sometimes it's the little things that leave the biggest impression. Friendly employees who pay attention to the details can turn an ordinary drive-thru visit into a great experience. This team definitely did that. As long as we're in the Newnan area, we'll keep coming back. The service here is terrible! It never use to be this bad. Fast food should be fast food. Not wait ten minutes before someone speaks to you and then wait 30 minutes at the window... second time it's been like this. ALWAYS remains delicious!! From the shrimp, catfish, slaw and green beans...ALWAYS GOOD!!

This is still a well maintained location. Still a good value for seniors. Sound track is good if a little Loud. Portions have gotten smaller. They portion out the green beans in little Styrofoam cups...you don't get much. HOWEVER, there is a problem at your cash register and she is about 80 yrs old and cantankerous as hell. Downright crabby and mean. Couldn't hear us at all or couldn't remember as we were giving her our order. She acts angry at you for asking for anything. Let me know when she retires. Since the chain has changed ownership, it has gone completely downhill. From reducing the amount of side items by putting them in cups, to cutting one side from the dinner options on the menu all together. The seafood portions have also gotten ridiculously small as well. The main kicker for me is they dont post the source of the seafood they are using, so you have no idea where it came from, possibly China? Who knows. If you like getting ripped off, and served questionable unsafe food, this is your place. read more

Captain D's is an different kind of restaurant. The interior isn't as lively as the newly remodeled Wendy's up the street. The food isn't as fancy as it either. You're not going to see any pretzel bread fish sandwiches or Lobster bisque. What you do get is a quaint selection of menu items at a very affordable price. The staff there are very kind, pleasant to talk to. They don't force anything on you and give you plenty of time to think out what you actually want to order. The only time they offered anything extra was at end of my order. We dined out and it took about 5 minutes for my order to be ready (there wasn't anyone in line in-front of me and I had ordered 2 different plates). The food itself (depending on what you order) is hit or miss. I had went for the Lobster Bite, White Fish, Shrimp, and Crab Cake meal that came with a choice of two sides (mine were french fries and Marconi and cheese; the mac dish cost an extra 30 cents) and two hushpuppies as well as a the Lemon Pepper White Fish meal which included a piece of grilled white fish on a bed of seasoned white rice with a choice of two sides (pics I put up depict the coleslaw and fried okra). Meal A (the first set of items) are ALL DEEP FRIED. Given that, the food was as good as you could expect. The amount of calories, fat, etc probably were astronomical but it all tasted pretty good. I wouldn't recommend eating that on a regular basis. The crab and lobster I think were imitation. The meat had a similar consistency to imitation. The Mac and Cheese was good, but the amount received for the up charge didn't seem worth it. The overall meal was great and wasn't oily. Meal B (although wasn't mine) I managed to get a few bites of it and it tasted fantastic. The rice and fish were cooked correctly and there wasn't any extra water coming out of it (how you'd normally see it if it weren't properly cooked). The fried okra was slimy and needed a bit of salt. The coleslaw was alright, average really. All in all, the grilled menu is where you really should be looking towards if you have to eat there. read more

I always forget this place is here but after being disappointed by numerous seafood places in town I decided to see what captain D's had to offer these days. I pulled up to the window and was greeted by the nicest lady I have ever encountered at a drive through window. She upsold me on a $2 order of butterfly shrimp and boy was I glad she did. Captain D's is open till 10pm!!!! If your in the mood for a late night dinner for a great price check this place out for sure. We can feed a family of 6 for under $40 which is a pretty great deal of you ask me. The shrimp are yummy, hush puppies amazing and fried clam strips are right on point ! The corn is yummy and on the cob. I can not say enough great things about Captain D's......the tarter sauce is really good, loaded baked potatoes are delicious and fried okra is the bomb. Dude, this place really stands out. Very high quality food for incredibly low prices. I had the huge fish sandwich ($3.99) and it was indeed huge and the best fried fish I've had in recent memory. I ordered a 2 piece fish meal today. The two sides I ordered with it were hush puppies and fries. The fish and hush puppies were delicious. However, the fries were horrible. They had a weird flavor to them - I ate two and threw the rest out. Not sure if they were expired? I won't be going back after the nasty fries! read more

After driving 15 min for a call in order, I went in got my stuff and went home. Yes, I will never leave again without checking my order. No extra (paid for) side of shrimp, stale 3 or 4 day old corn on the cobb, no green beans. The only good thing was the fish and hush puppies. $38.57. Could have eaten at Red Lobster for that amount. One of the best fast food restaurants I've been to for fish. I had the flounder and shrimp skewer combo. Absolutely delicious. It was on a bed of rice and I got a baked potato and corn on the cob. Some of the BEST rolls I've ever eaten. We took half our food home for dinner and it was just as good several hours later. Fran, the cashier was delightful and friendly. I went through drive through Friday night ( 7/17/20 ) and ordered two meals. As I approached the window J noticed an ungloved girl taking cash from a customer. I was next in line and did not see any sanitizing taking place before she took my debit card. There were 4 young employees grouped together after the window. Everyone's mask was below their nose. A young man stand there had his mask covering only his chin. I looked back into the kitchen area and saw the man preparing the orders had on no mask at all! My food was then bagged by the money handler who also gathered my condiments and put them in the food bags. One of the baked potatoes nearly fell out of it's cardboard box on my way home. There appears to be little to no precautions being taken at this restaurant to protect their customers. The food seemed to have been prepared for some time and was greasy and not fresh. I can truly say that I have never had a bad experience here, and I have eaten at this location several times. This is without a doubt a great alternative to our fast food burger joints. The food is affordable and always consistent. I have eaten at many Captain D's and this may be the best of the best. The people are great as well. I used drive thru on Friday night about 9:15 p.m. One vehicle ahead of me. It moved on. I waited at speaker for 10 minutes- no response. Yelled into speaker--no response. Honked the horn--no response. So I drove to window. White female staff member informed that my truck did not set off buzzer. Ok--she then informed me that thier equipment was down and could only take cash. Ok-- I gave her my order. "Deluxe Seafood Platter w/ broccoli and loaded baked potato, Clam Appetizer, medium Diet Coke. And I am a Senior." She replied. "No discounts, equipment down.- $13.79" Ok.. My order was not correct. There were no Stuffed Crab Shells- I received chicken strips. My baked potato had no sour cream and butter. The oil that the food was fried in was old which made the crust on the clam strips, shrimp, whitefish, and chicken brown, hard, and greasy. I could not eat my dinner --it was terrible. And since "the equipment was down", I received no receipt- no info for survey. Do NOT eat here. read more
