I recommend Captain Dave as I ove fishing. The staff was very friendly and few was knowledgeable. The Captain was extra kind. This must have been my 5th time on a commercialized fishing boat including Ocean City Maryland 2 and half years ago and once in Hawaii 2years ago...all three trips equals 5 fishes that i have caught "all on my own". All I can say is this is cool and fun thing to do and to go with a good crowd of mixer of all ages can be a different experience. The only thing I would avoid is a windy and a rocky day. If you was to fly would you choose a day filled with many wind tunnels to fly? Kehehehe...not pleasant, then not for me... In my experiences in fishing I had more luck when I went on private boats amongs 3 or 4 close friends hands down. It is different level of comfort. The fish finder can be used to single out a location which is better catching fun than going through a commercialized course with random chance of catching something especially with so many lines in a given place given time. If you are a beginner i would recommend this so you can get good practice. I m not totally against it...try your luck it may be on your side. Do pick a goid day and time matters hint: tides

Incredible first experience. Captain dave and his son joe were great! Very hospitable and service oriented to all guests. Made sure we were stocked with good bait and kept putting us right on top of the fish. Captain dave is a pro.

The trip was beautiful, the deckhands helped us with every little part we needed on the fishing pole, and there was a lovely little cook making $3 hot dogs and $4 hamburgers.

I had no idea you could go fishing off the coast of Sheepshead Bay!…read more This is a group fishing boat that has everything you need. For $100, they'll bring you out from 6:30am-2:30pm, provide the pole, hook, jig, and explain everything you need to know. If you caught a fish, they provided buckets, and at they ends they gutted your fish for you. Everyone working on the boat was very genuine, really helpful, and wanted us to have a great time. In the middle of June you're looking for Bluefish, porgy, striped bass, and fluke. We went on a new moon, and apparently on new moons and full moons, the gravity shift changes the current and makes fishing more difficult. Long story short, we didn't catch a lot, but we had a great experience. They also gave us extra fish to bring home which was really nice. If you're in NYC and want to go fishing, this is an accessible spot to go!

It was a stormy cloudy day with rain on the horizon and really choppy waves. I was told that it was not a good day for fishing. The captain tried very hard to find us fish and it was one of the best fishing trips ever. I went with my brother and father for my father's birthday. We got 2 buckets full of porgies on a "bad fishing day"!!!! I can only imagine what a good day would look like with those experienced fishermen. Thank you!!!

Okay, so I just came on here to read the reviews out of curiosity & send the yelp link to my cousin…read morewho I want to bring fishing. I personally have been fishing with Brooklyn VI for years with a large group of friends. I have never sought out another boat because of the following: - They have a cool and helpful staff. - If nothing is biting, they ALWAYS tell us to stop and drive out deeper to find a better location. - I literally always have to STOP fishing because I catch too many Blues (don't have the freezer room). The first time I fished with them I caught 9 big blues. I always catch a bunch and then chill the rest of the trip and talk to friends who are pooped. On one trip, my son was about 9 at the time - he caught 3 or 4 by himself and the staff of course pulled the fish in for him. -They clean the fish for you which saves me so much trouble. I don't want to call anyone a liar but I will say, after what, 7 years of fishing with Brooklyn VI, I've NEVER seen the shore when we start fishing, never! I WILL say that I've only fished the weekend 7pm trips so I can only comment on that.
