Great antique store and auction house that just opened up in Via Port Rotterdam (old Rotterdam…read moremall) across from food court. Attended one of their auctions on Saturday that they have every two weeks. Prices at this auction were on the lower end and the quality of the items was great as well. The front of the store was a regular antique store with items for purchase ( mostly furniture and clothes). Prices for these items seemed to be reasonable as well. Auctions have a 10% buyers premium with 2% added if you are using a credit card. Their business hours are Wednesdays thru Saturday 11am-7pm. Sundays 11am-5pm. Auctions are every other Saturday starting at 1pm. I will definitely be back as their auctions are so fun.

I wish I could give this place a negative rating. It's not a professionally run company, it's just…read moreone man who likes to tell you how great he is rather than actually doing anything. In my case, I am the executor of an estate which had items to sell directly or through an auction. A friend found out about this place, spoke to the owner, and passed the information to me. I contacted him directly to get information on my options, and he said he would come to the property to look at the items. However, when I called to set up a date and time, he never called back. Subsequently the friend spoke to him again, and he made arrangements with the friend to come out (without contacting me). On the day that he visited he grossly misrepresented the value of items, gave a speech about his company (the third time I heard it, talked about auctioning the items, then made an offer to purchase everything as long as I didn't need a receipt. However, when I called him to accept, he refused to call me back and called my friend instead. As I am the only one who can sell the items, my friend called him back in my presence, and so got to hear how he didn't like the way I spoke to him and asked all my questions, like 'what is your commission structure for auctions" and "how long would it take until they were in an auction", which seemed reasonable business questions to me. He also backed out of the purchase for reasons that made no business sense. Do not trust anything he says. This is not a company, it's a way for this person to stroke his ego.

I have been in here various times over the years when purchasing jewelry, having it reset or…read moreresized. The owners (John and Lucy) are absolutely lovely to work with. They are very friendly and listen to what you are looking for when it comes to picking the right piece. My first experience here had to be about 10-12 years ago. I had purchased an inexpensive Claddagh ring in 9K gold on a trip to Ireland back in the late 1990s. The ring cost about $150. My Claddagh was really special to me because I'm part Irish and it was purchased on a vacation. The ring came with a created emerald (fake), but I somehow managed to knock the stone out and lose it. I went to a couple of area jewelers to get quotes on fixing this inexpensive stone and ring. I was shocked by what some people wanted to charge me! I came to this shop and John charged me a LOT less than what the other stores quoted me for a repair and resize. Fast forward to the current day, my Claddagh ring looks great and the stone is still securely in place. I think this speaks to the fact that John clearly does quality work. I stopped in this week when I was back in Albany. I assisted my friend in purchasing an engagement ring here. It was still a pleasure to come here and no pressure. We were shown various diamond options and I think the pricing was fair compared to the expensive mall jewelers. While I was in here I talked to John and Lucy about my own engagement ring. My husband purchased it elsewhere, but it's a 6 prong Tiffany style setting. I had bent one of the prongs about two years ago. I was lucky, John fixed it for me that day, it only took about 10 minutes. After my ring was repaired, cleaned and polished, it looked GORGEOUS. He did such a nice job fixing it up for me. I went to see my sight impaired grandmother the next day and she even commented on how she liked my ring. My mom also loves coming in here too and has had a couple of great visits with jewelry repairs. She also found John and Lucy to be very pleasant. I especially like that this is a family owned and operated business. I moved out of the Capital Region in 2014, but I always recommend this spot to my friends when they need a jeweler. Wish I could find a place like this where I currently live.

Trying to find a legitimate…read moreNintendo repair place that would work on the Wii seemed to be impossible... perhaps Nintendo just doesn't authorize it anymore. But, we wanted a working Wii so my wife called around and discovered this place. They couldn't repair our game system but sold us a replacement one (minus the cords and stuff which we already had and thus didn't need) for around $20, with a 30-day warranty. We took it home and it works. So, we are back to playing the Wii. Wheeee! They also sold retro toys, board games, video games, movies, and other "nerdish" things. It was a fun walk through, though you could easily empty your wallet and walk out with some nifty things if you aren't careful.
