We had a great time on the Dolphins, Drinks & Sandbar tour with Siesta Key Watersports. We didn't…read moresee any dolphins, but wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, and it didn't ruin the experience for us. We took the 1 p.m. tour during a busy holiday weekend, so I would probably choose a morning or sunset cruise if seeing dolphins is your main priority. The sandbar stop was the highlight and the main reason I booked this tour. The water was warm, and we found lots of living sand dollars. My son loved exploring and searching in the water. We also heard that manatees passed near the boat while I was out on the sandbar, but unfortunately, I missed them. We purchased the VIP upgrade, which included priority boarding, alcoholic drinks for the adults, and soda or juice for kids. If you decide you want to have drinks after you get on the boat and didn't get the upgrade, you can add it when you're on the boat. The larger tour boat had plenty of shade and space, and it never felt crowded. The bathroom was easy to access and clean. Captain Dan and Brandt were friendly and helpful, and Captain Dan's commentary about the wildlife and waterfront homes made the ride entertaining. Even without dolphins, this was a fun afternoon on the water, and I would recommend the tour--especially for families who want a boat ride that also lets them get out and explore.

Our tour guides were Chad and Joey who made for a great ride out into the ocean. Good information was shared along the way and when dolphins were located on the tour Chad was excellent at pointing them out along the way. A bald eagle nest was also seen complete with a bald eagle perched overlooking the ocean. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous and the tour was just the right amount of time to be out on the water to enjoy the boat ride. We don't drink so purchased the tickets without the alcohol included but then were welcome to bring on our own drinks and snacks for the ride. The playlist of music out on the sunset tour was top notch and apparently dolphins have a good affection for Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" as when that song came on the dolphins came out in force. Highly recommend Siesta Key Watersports!

My wife and I are visiting from Maine and wanted to explore offshore so we researched boat rentals…read morein our area, chose Cortez Watersports and are SO happy that we did. Booking was super easy and the rental process was thoroughly explained. We invited two other couples to join us and found the pontoon boat that we chose to be spacious and comfortable for the six of us and one dog. We arrived around 8:45am to check in and carry our belongings down to the dock where everything was loaded into the boat for us which was nice. We were then given an explanation of the area map and a tour of the boat. We had an amazing day on the water where we saw several dolphins, found dozens of sand dollars, parked at some sandbars and caught a few fish. We arrived back at the dock at 5:00pm and unloaded our stuff onto the dock where it was loaded into a cart and wheeled to our vehicles for us which we really appreciated. The fine folks at Cortez Watersports were friendly and catered to us beyond our expectations. We would definitely visit them again and highly recommend that you consider them for your next on the water outing.

We recently visited Kids Empire in Bradenton, and overall it was a mixed experience with both…read morepositives and drawbacks. Check-In & Pricing The check-in process is straightforward, but I highly recommend completing the waiver online before you go--it makes the entry much faster, especially when it's busy. Pricing, however, is on the steep side. Admission was the same almost $20 for my 15-month-old as for older kids, even though they barely used the equipment, including the toddler area. There are also attempts to upsell you on crane games and ride-on motorcycle machines, which adds to the feeling that the outing can get pricey fast. They sell food and drinks inside and prohibit outside food or beverages, which further pushes you toward additional purchases. Crowds & Atmosphere We visited on a Monday morning during a school holiday, and it was fairly busy. We stayed almost four hours just to feel like we were getting our money's worth. The temperature inside was surprisingly cold--uncomfortably so--and the disco room was not only freezing but also extremely loud. Cleanliness & Safety For the most part, the facility was clean. At one point a child had an accident in the play structure, and staff cleaned it up quickly--though unfortunately, our friends stepped in it before it was noticed. The bathrooms were clean early on but developed a noticeable urine smell as the day went on. In the baby area, someone had eaten Doritos in the ball pit, and my toddler kept finding orange crumbs, which was pretty gross. Safety-wise, some of the climbing structures need attention. The tower had open holes that felt unsafe, especially for smaller or less coordinated kids. Supervision & Environment Most parents seemed attentive, but a noticeable handful were either working on laptops or absorbed in their phones, leaving their kids to roam unattended. This isn't fully the facility's fault, but it does affect the overall atmosphere and safety - especially for smaller children. Food Policy The food available for purchase is mostly junk food--chips, Takis, sugary applesauce pouches, etc. Because outside food isn't allowed, we had to step outside so our kids could have healthier snacks. Unfortunately, the immediate outside area isn't in the nicest neighborhood, and there's nowhere to sit. At the very least, a bench outside would be a thoughtful addition for families trying to accommodate dietary needs or simply avoid feeding their kids junk. Overall Kids Empire offers a large, engaging indoor playground that kids enjoy, and it's reasonably clean. But the high price, upselling, cold environment, safety concerns in some structures, and restrictive food policy make it far from perfect.
