Ms. Tina is serious about running an amazing and safe school. No matter what the issue may be, we as parents are all informed as soon as she is. Ms. Jessica is her current teacher and I believe she has amazing patience and has taught my daughter so much. She is kind and works with each and every one of her kids to make sure they are happy and learning. I am always so grateful for morning drop offs (my little one doesn't always make it easy when i need to go) and when we get home, she shows me all that she has learned for that day. The other teacher I want to mention is Ms. Becca- she's pretty much my rock haha. She was one of the teachers that has been around my daughter the longest (or so it seems to me). She is able to match the tone of whatever mood mine is in and able to work with her. If she's having a bad day, Ms. Becca seems to always turn it around. They have great hours that works with our schedule and pricing comparable to other daycares we looked at. But here, the kids get great meals all day, which was a huge plus for us. We've had teachers Aniah, Kat, Ale, Chelsea, Isabel, and miciyah, and they are each wonderful. Even the teachers who don't have my son know his name. The playgrounds are great, and the facility is safe. I love that they offer the live camera access. They have learning plans each week and we appreciate that. The school is always clean. I am so happy with our choice in kiddie academy. Highly recommend.

It's quite a change in his academic progress and his enthusiasm for school. He says Yayy every morning when I tell him what day it is, and that's school day. He started reading when he was four and a half. I don't have to ask him twice when it's reading time at home. Somehow Challenger got him to feel like he is having fun when he reads or works on the worksheets. He is able to explain to me errors he makes on his worksheets at school, and able to show me corrections. I am happy with his academic growth at this school. I like that the school entrance is locked at all time. You can't get to the front desk before you get approved to pass through the locked entrance There were couple times I had issues with admin. At first, I didn't know the school required uniform shirt and pants. I only ordered my son uniform shirts and went to buy him pants from a clothing store. One day he came home in someone else's pants with no note to explain why his pants were changed. When I called, that was when I was informed about the mandatory uniform. I was upset at how they made him change into different pants at school, and how they didn't have the courtesy to call me to work out the uniform issue. Another time was when I received a past due notice, and a warning of my son's school termination if the past due was not taken care of by so and so date. I was not made aware of the due. When I called the school to take care of the amount, I was told that it was from the one day that we picked him up late. Ms Brenda always calls me back in timely manner. For how happy my son is at this school, I can look past all the admin issues I have had.

Today I picked up my child and was informed he had been kicked in the head by another child on the playground and a few hours later he was BIT on the arm by another child that still wears pull-ups and looked like he should have been in a toddler classroom. if I post every detailed incident that my child has been through I don't think many parents would feel safe bringing their child here. I'm in a very tight situation because my child missed the cutoff to attend kindergarten and now he will have no choice but to continue moving from daycare to daycare until the new year starts for elementary school. She loved all her teachers and she still asks to go back and visit them. :) The administrative staff is fantastic and supportive (for both parents and children). They communicate well, go above and beyond when they can, and have always treated my children with kindness and respect. The front desk staff has also been helpful and professional whenever I interact with them. Unfortunately, my experience with ownership/management has been extremely stressful and disappointing. I was informed after the fact that my daughter was allegedly not supposed to attend on Wednesdays and was then told I owed nearly a year's worth of backpay for Wednesdays -- despite never being informed of this policy beforehand by the school or Urban League. During this time, Urban League was transitioning to state control, leaving me with no clear point of contact or guidance. I was suddenly demanded to pay a large amount within a week, which caused significant financial and emotional stress, especially as I was not working at the time. I requested itemized documentation explaining these charges multiple times. Requests for clarification were met with delays, no urgency, or no response at all. More recently, I noticed I was charged during a period when the school was closed, which raised additional concerns. I reached out multiple times last week and again this week with no response from the owner. I was placed on hold for 30 minutes without any follow-up or reassurance. I ultimately had to leave work and come to the school in person just to try to get answers. When I arrived, I waited an additional 15-20 minutes. When the owner finally spoke with me, the conversation was extremely frustrating -- I was repeatedly talked over, the discussion went in circles, and I was unable to finish explaining my concerns. Questions about why my daughter's records show she "started" before she was even born were brushed off with explanations that should have already been resolved, as I had raised these issues before. Additionally, parents were not notified in a timely manner about a child in my daughter's class having strep throat. I was informed about this a week later, which is unacceptable. Whether it's one child or multiple, parents should be notified the same day a contagious illness is identified. I feel stuck in a difficult position because while I deeply appreciate and trust the teachers and staff, the way ownership handles billing, communication, and parent concerns lacks urgency, transparency, and accountability. Parents should not have to chase documentation, wait endlessly for responses, or feel dismissed when asking reasonable questions about their child's care and finances. My sincere hope is that ownership begins to treat families with genuineness, urgency, and authenticity, because the staff and children deserve better support from the top.
