We stayed in room #3 that has AC, This one is an en-suite bedroom. Room 3 seems to be the smallest one compare to all others. We did peek into room #1 and it was larger. Pros: #1: close proximity to English Bay and #1 rated Stanley Park. Within walking distance to many restaurants. Stanley Park has Brewery that is within 5 minute walking distance from the Inn. #2: free parking spaces (3) in the back if space is available. must request ahead of time. #3: very romantic, cozy setting with lots of furnishings to go with name like English Bay Inn. Had port wine with several glasses to use. #4: Yes, the breakfast and the friendly staff serving you in the morning. The staff is very personable and paid attention to details. Cons: #3 being the smallest, we did not have enough room to open the suitcase fully but somehow managed it. If you are big, you will definitely hate this room. Overall, we will definitely stay again and recommend to others

We just checked out, and during this time of the year (May) there are beautiful flower blooms and weather to go with the charming house. My parents booked unit 6, the attic. My husband, son, my brother and I had unit 5, the basement. For Unit 6, you enter into a seating area, then go up another flight of stairs to another small seating area, the bed area and a pretty good sized bathroom. Our basement until (in photos) has a small kitchen, small dining room, and two sleeping areas. My brother was with us just one night so he took the back bedroom, and when he left our son took the bedroom. With either situation the basement was enough room for us. If you are visiting with a child, I'd recommend booking the basement to keep the rest of the house quiet for the other guests. The only downside for the basement unit is that you don't get the wonderful breakfast with it. My parents and my husband and I switched off going to breakfast on different mornings since the attic unit does include breakfast. They thoroughly enjoyed their omelet breakfast and declared that we'll enjoy our turn the next day - and we did enjoy it this morning! We had muffins, fruit salad, and delicious Eggs Benedict with corned beef, small salad, sprouts and grilled tomatoes. A gentleman sitting in front of me had the omelets the day before and asked for fruit and cereal instead today, and they happily supplied him with what he asked for. The house is obviously an older house. It's nothing like staying at a brand new five star hotel, but you can say that's all part of the charm of it. When I visit Vancouver again, I plan to book with them again as long as they have availability. The Inn is also very nicely located. You can walk a short block down to the bay and take a nice walk one way to Stanley Park (the entrance is one block north), or walk south to a popular beach and restaurant area. If you are driving, make sure to request a reserved parking space (there are only 3). I'm a fan, and if you enjoy character and supporting small quality businesses with caretakers who want to make your trip enjoyable, book with them!

I booked the one night deluxe executive king room, which has a soaking tub and a balcony, from their website and used their PNW resident rate offer. It included valet, turndown service, full access to their fitness and steam room. And right around the corner from Vogue Theatre where we had tickets that night for a show. Location was so convenient. All in all, good price compared to what third parties were offering. In the special notes I had wrote we'll be celebrating a birthday and we were surprised in our with chocolate covered strawberries and a birthday card from the staff. Lovely surprise. Check in was a breeze. I received an email that morning to basically pre check in- enter ID info & credit card so once I get there they will just hand me the keys. Couple mins after entering our room, staff member knocked on our door and offered to fill our ice bucket. That was a first for me and a nice touch of luxury. Front desk & staff was so welcoming and attentive. They would always greet you "Welcome Home". Check in 3pm & check out 12p. Had time explore around the city for coffee & breakfast with time to relax in the room before the drive home.

The decor has a blend of modern lighting and appliances while keeping an antique flare with the brick wall detailing and antiquated heater. It's also ideally located in the city right by the train station and close to a lot of great tourist points in Vancouver. Our room was beautiful and clean--nice bay window lounge area in the room and the bathroom was completely updated with under sink lighting too. Beds were incredibly comfortable and we loved how soft the pillows were. The only negative callout I'd have about the rooms is regarding the old school heaters and no instructions on how to operate it. Now the downside overall was just consistent miscommunication with the staff. While they're nice, they tell you one thing then come to find out they mean something completely different. For example when they say our breakfast reservation is for 7am, so we're up and ready for breakfast only to come out and hear from the front desk staff-- "sorry we actually meant 8am". An entire hour difference is significant and incredibly frustrating when you're timing your morning around a flight but it all worked out in the end. That's just one example among a lot of little other miscommunication from the staff but we only stayed one night anyway so not a big deal. The free breakfast is amazing though and located just at the restaurant next door. There really is only one option (eggs, toast, bacon, potatoes plate) or oatmeal but the breakfast place was absolutely delicious. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in the area.

After the first day, they didn't clean our room. We think it's because they were planning to clean it in the late afternoon, but by the time we got back, we used the "Do Not Disturb" sign, and didn't want it cleaned at that point. Nevertheless, we did NOT complain to anyone about it. We figured we'd wait and see if they cleaned it the next day. The next day, as we were leaving in the AM, a staff member came up to us unsolicited and apologized for not cleaning the room! We were shocked, because obviously, we had not said anything to anyone. So that was above and beyond customer service as far as we were concerned, and deserves to be mentioned here. Rooms: They are probably bigger than most in downtown Vancouver. As others have said, all the rooms now have personal bathrooms in them, rather than shared bathrooms. We had one of their nicer rooms with exposed brick in it. However, the reason why I can not give them five stars involves the heating. Because this is an old building, the heating is radiator heating. Now we had zero problem with that, because we've lived in older places in our lives that heat using a radiator. However, because the building is so old, the heating was hard to control, and took time to actually kick in. One person who worked there even told us that during our first day there. So when we wanted to turn the heat on, it took some time, and then when we wanted it off, that took some time too! The thermostat was behind our TV, so that was a little challenging too. I was going to write that there is no A/C in this place, but I saw an earlier Yelp review that says they provide portable units in warmer weather, so if that's the case, then that would be fine. But there is no central A/C in a place like this. The other curious thing about this place was that you couldn't take the stairs if you wanted to take them instead of the elevator. They did have some outside stairs you could take, which seemed to me to be an old fire escape at one point. But I certainly didn't want to go outside to walk downstairs. All that being said, because there aren't too many rooms there, there is virtually zero wait time for the elevators. In the five days we were there, there was only ONE time that we had to take the elevator with someone else.

Someone named "David" from the hotel reached out by phone and text, offering me $300 to remove my review. He didn't/wouldn't give his job title, so I don't know if he is a manager or what, but what he asked me to do clearly goes against the Terms of Service of Google/Trip Advisor and Yelp! Companies can't threaten or bribe reviewers. I declined the $300. When he called, I told him I was at work and I had to go but he tried to keep me on the phone for a full 20 minutes. I asked him the reason why he wanted me to remove my Four-Star Review and he said it was "affecting the hotels reviews." It was an honest review and NOTHING but glowing but he still wanted it removed. He told me the part they didn't want was that "you get more for less" at the Metropolitan or Sutton Place hotel. For me, its never, not once, ever about the money. I turned down the $300. Integrity is EVERYTHING. So now every smile I got from the staff, I have to assume (what I thought was genuine), but now contrived or fake. I feel Icky to have stayed here knowing they BUY REVIEWS! A complete Fraud, and asking me to go against the Terms of Service of the Platform...and a glowing review at that. I am including my review untouched and unchanged. Our Parkview room was great, providing an unbelievably good view of the water and surrounding cityscape. The Coal Harbor location was also a plus for us, providing easy access to surrounding neighborhoods via walking, public transit or ride sharing. My only ding on the Loden was that the bed was too soft for my old body, causing me somewhat of an achy back. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning.

We stayed here three nights after our Alaska land and cruise trip on Princess…read more We paid about $1300 CAD which is still a good deal for downtown Vancouver. We have a double queen with a private bathroom but they do have much less expensive rooms with shared facilities. There were multiple shower rooms on each floor with keycard (and locking) access if you need an affordable place to stay. There is also laundry on several floors- $2.50CAD for wash and dry. They also had an iron and ironing board set up in those facilities, but you have one in your room as well, at least we did. You really need to check out the different spaces that exist in this building, for example there are two large kitchens on two floors and two kitchenettes on two. Take a peek at those pictures so you could do some cooking here if you needed. There's also a fitness center on the 4th floor. And don't miss the rooftop, seating area and garden in honor of Grace Tee. So pretty and peaceful up here!! They have coffee in the 'nook' off the lobby in the morning too.

I went for private bathroom & it was still affordable, very happy with this hotel, even the location was perfect...just far away enough from the ghetto areas but close to everything like transportation wise. The front desk service was nice and friendly( I only wished they didn't say the room numbers out loud during check in). And they answered all questions happily.
