BEFORE Aurora : Brassy, dry and drab (and a lot of root growth).
Carolyn F.

Great experience with student, Aurora Saradjian. My hair was a "grown-out" mess ( my own fault-heavy workload). Since I'm planning a lot of travel over the next two months, I asked Aurora her opinion on the color that would hold up longer while my hair was growing in. She matched really close to my natural hair color, covered the grays that I had, and gave me a incredible scalp treatment. The prices are phenomenal!TIP: this is a learning academy so Services will take a lot longer as the student checks in regularly with their mentor or teacher. Do not think you're going to get in and out in an hour or two if you're doing a full color. Plan on staying a while: bring a book or magazine, whatever. Definitely worth the trip.I saved almost $150 and I am very pleased with the color Aurora gave me.

I spent 6 years of my life at Marist and I don't regret any single part of it... not even when…read morethose student loan bills come in every month. As an undergraduate, I was an English major, concentrating in literature, The English program there is underrated, in my humble opinion. Marist is known as a communications/business/fashion school, and rightfully so as those programs are incredible. However, it should get more attention for its awesome little English department, staffed by some of the most amazing educators I've had in my 19 years of schooling. I was an avid reader before, but they completely changed my outlook on literature and ultimately inspired me to pursue becoming a professor myself. I returned later on to get my Masters in Education there. It's a young program (I think I may have been the second or third class?) so it's not perfect, but I also think that education is a hard subject to teach without hands-on experience, which they ultimately do require. Again, I was mentored by some awesome educators, so what more can you ask for from a college? Oh, and I did live on campus for three semesters. My first dorm, Champagnat, was renovated a year or two after I was there, so I don't have anything constructive to say about it since I haven't been in there since '01. My second dorm, a suite in Midrise, was nice. I know they were featured on a morning show about the luxury of their dorms, so there you go. The cafeteria is decent, the cafes around campus are good, they have a kickin' activities center and the library... oh, the library. I'll be here for another 8 paragraphs if I go into the awesomeness of the library, so I'll just say that I spent many a relaxing afternoon by a big window overlooking the Hudson reading the 47389423489 books assigned to me as an English major. Ah, Marist. Good times. I miss you.

I am an NYIB graduate from a more than a few years back who has been actively working in the field…read moresince my graduation day thanks to the education and preparation I received at this wonderful school. From the caring and supportive teachers to the flexibility of being able to attend a session that fits your schedule (day or night, full or part time) NYIB was the absolute BEST school I had visited before venturing into a career in esthetics. Having worked in the field now for several years, part of which I was the operations/hiring manager for a luxury spa, I can always tell which new estheticians come from NYIB. Their graduates are more well versed in treatment techniques, have more knowledge of the important sciences involved in skincare and have a much more professional image than those who have attended other schools in the area. An esthetician with a resume that listed NYIB as their school ALWAYS went to the top of my interview list. They now offer an advanced esthetics program as well as frequent workshops, a few of which I've attended, and they have a makeup team that participates in fashion week - so, from what I can see, the school has only gotten better!

Honest Review from ex nail tech student . Yes I did actually UNFORTUNATELY attend this school. They…read moreadministrators don't care about the students or if they even learn anything. The nail technician kit was basic and overpriced ofcourse in the tuition. In the end you have to buy more quality supplies. On my first day the teacher, Mrs.Roxy was annoyed that I was beginning my course and she didn't even bother interacting with me. She just made me read for 4 hours. I was there for 8 hours (two classes back to back). Only one teacher was kind to me Mrs.Cristal. She actually knows how to teach, and has a full understanding of the book, she is truly knowledgeable and talented. Anything you asked her, she easily answered. Mrs. Viri, who was a previous teacher years ago but came back during my time there, doesn't even know anything and doesn't bother correcting your errors. The current "Teacher" Silvia? Isn't even an actual teacher. She was a fellow student who would cry in class, couldn't understand the theory aspect of it and ofcourse because Mrs.Viri was her teacher who became her friend, she let her pass and do exams multiple times and never actually even learned how to properly do nails. You'll never actually get a teacher who knows if you go during Spanish classes. Ms.Yazbelle is a good teacher but only teaches in English if you're able to go, but the other two Mrs.Viri and Silvia will only "teach" you in Spanish, but like I said you won't actually learn anything. Often times as well you'll be left alone in class and have the cosmo teacher there. They don't care if you learn, they're there to let you clock in those hours cause it's money for them. If you complain they'll be rude to you. They also treat certain teachers bad. Low pay for the teachers that's why most don't care to teach you anything.1 ALSO ITS IN BRIDGEPORT! So if that doesn't scream RED FLAG to you I don't know what will. When I'd attend night classes it was awfully scary, drunken drug addicts outside, I feared for my life honestly. Especially for my teacher because the receptionist and owner would leave, as long as they're getting paid they don't care about the safety of their students or teachers. I only attended to get my license as I learned abroad how to properly do nails. So if you're going here to actually learn don't waste your time and do your research for a better school.
