First misdiagnosed the issue; second broke open a pipe which flooded my downstairs with sewage; third in trying to fix the damage he caused, the plumber splashed purple primer all over my cabinets and appliances (if you know this plumbing chemical, you know it is indelible); fourth refused to fully fix the damage; fifth when I spoke with the owner Joe Capps, he yelled an obscenity at me and hung up. The plumbing staff are capable, courteous and seemingly knowledgeable. They come equipped to do any job although also well.prepared to upsell you on a number of items. On the other hand, the customer service at the office is ATROCIOUS! I called to speak to "Glenn" on a Friday afternoon after having a service call earlier that day. My service call was to address a job that was under warranty; I originally spent over $1600.00 for basic plumbing work. Unable to address my concern, Glenn said he would return my call later that day or Monday. He failed to call me back that day, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. Never having received the courtesy of a return call, I followed up with another call a week later and was connected to Glenn. We spoke briefly until Glenn answered an inside line and held a full.blown conversation with an employee while I was left to listen without so much as an "excuse me" or "please hold" or any acknowledgement that he moved on and left me hanging. Ultimately, after near ten minutes of listening to Glenn's other conversation, I had to hang up in spite of the fact that my issue was still unaddressed. I have yet to receive a call, message or any communication from Glenn or Capps Plumbing since that time. It has been weeks. DO NOT spend your money on plumbing services from Capps ; they FAIL when it comes to customer service and satisfaction. They were very friendly and were out within an hour and got the issue repaired quickly. They cleaned everything up nicely when they were done too. They come equipped and they do good job overall. However they will unreasonably overcharge you for emergency services. I understd emergencies and I understand efforts, but charging over $600 for 45 minue job with no equipment to replace (just labor) is ridiculous. They do understand that I have no choise since they are here and it's emergency. But they use this situation to rip you off and I dont find this fair. I personally dont like greedy businesses which would use your circumstances and suck money out of you. Capps was really wonderful. My mom has an old house in Arlington Heights and pipes had clogged with tree roots causing some pretty major nasty back-up/flooding in the house. We called Capps on the recommendation of a friend. From the first phone call the guy on the phone identified the problem over the phone and told me he could have someone out same day between 1-4pm and I called after noon. Another gentleman called to tell me our plumber would arrive in about 15 minutes which he did (about 1:30). Sean was pleasant and courteous and thorough. He listened to my mother, did a great job and was very helpful in his explanations. I would highly recommend him and the Capps team (they show up with a large truck full of everything they need!). My water heater stopped working, Capps sent someone to check it and found that the flame was out but could be ignited to bring the water heater back to operate. A suggestion was made to replace the thermocouple. I agreed, however, the charge was raised a couple of times that reached $500. I will never use this company again. read more

Joe Capps is a bully and a bad person. He treated me very unprofessionally because of my English accent. Some of their plumbers are not good for anything. They tell you that diagnosis is $68 but if they touch anything it will go up to $95. You cannot reason with Joe Capps to make him understand your issue. Joe Capps says that all his plumbers talk with him before starting the work which is a lie. You cannot be on phone line with Joe Capps for more than 10 seconds as he starts to insult you and yell at you. He then starts to tell you how he is right because of 30 years of plumbing experience he had and all that...If you tell him that your problem is not fixed although his plumber came to fix your problem and charged you an exorbitant amount of dollars, Joe Capps will tell you that the original problem is fixed but now we have a new problem and insults his way out touting his 30 years of plumbing experience. Next time when I had a problem, I called ABC instead and the difference is heaven and hell..I will stick to ABC in the future... I strongly suggest not to call CAPPS plumbing mainly because of Joe CAPPS...More than money it is an emotional strain on yourself, reasoning with Joe CAPPS on any issue after the work is done... I recently had a leak in my faucet ,it was a Saturday and harder to get a plumber. Capps sold me a Moen faucet that they said was chrome and similiar to the one I had that was Stainlesss steel. I was busy making lunch so I took the man at his word. We signed the papers then he left and I picked up the pull out faucet to clean up and it was so light it was like a toy. Turns out it was a $99 chrome plated faucet I could have bought at Lowes. I understand people have to make a living but a 600% mark-up is highway robbery.That of course was just the cost of the faucet. I called him and he was smug and said I could have refused the faucet which I certainly would have had I been told exactly what it really was. Horrible service. Had a clogged shower drain and I specifically called capps because they advertised the free camera inspection. When they came to my house they did not even bring the camera and I specifically requested the camera before beginning the work. However, the plumber insisted he rod the pipe in order to fix the issue. Once he got everything set up and started rodding the pipe, he noticed that he could not plunge the tool any further. He then noticed that the pipe was going in a direction where he is not be able to get the rodding tool down. Hence the reason why I requested the camera because I thought this might be an issue... he then tells me he cannot proceed with the job and requests that I still pay $285 for a job he could not even complete. He could have certainly prevented this in the first place by bringing in the camera like I had requested. I had a issue with my bathroom plumbing a few weeks before Christmas. I called Capps Plumbing and Sewer. I am so grateful I made the call Capps Plumbing and Sewer. They sent workmen over and they tried their best to get the water to move in my sewer pipe. They then pulled my toilet and tried to rod from there. It did not work the tree roots were entrenched. They explained everything to me in detail. They wanted to make sure I knew what needed to be done to fix the problem and assure me there was no other alternative. I agreed to the plan. Within a half hour JULIE was out marked off all utilities . By 9:00 AM the back hoe was in my driveway and they started to go to work. It was like 12 degrees out. I forgot to mention when they left my house the night before they cleaned everything up. And they left things better than how they found it. They worked all day. Everyone was so courteous, nice, helpful explained every step of the way of what was happening or what the next step was. The job was done. They said they would be back when the Village approved the work. Next day they were out again after the Village approved it. They put all the dirt back swept my driveway clean I couldn't believe how clean they were and so knowledgeable. I would give them 10 stars if I could. My plumbing is now working so smoothly. I had a leaky pipe & also a shut off valve that was leaking water into the basement. I called Capps based on flyers I had received in the coupon magazines. The 2 sons came out & they were very nice & put on protective footware before entering. They charged $68 just to come out! What happened to free estimates? The valve that was leaking was just a loose nut, so they tightened and charged me $95 just to tighten a nut! I had them give an estimate on the leaky pipe & they based it on being an old copper pipe that completely needed replacing & that the job would take 5 hours with 2 people. They called the office & wanted to charge me $2,450! I called 2 other plumbing companies and both quoted the same job for $300-$350. Capps is way over priced & I'm thankful I didn't fall for their over-inflated quote. I'm angry at myself for paying the $168 to have a nut tightened! Sorry, not falling for this. read more

Have used Capp's Plumbing 4 times in the past year in situations ranging from an emergency to preventive maintenance and sump pump installation. In every case the plumbers were on time, wore booties over their shoes, completed the job in proper fashion, used quality products and left the work area clean. I was very satisfied with their work and they answered all my questions. I have referred them to others who related they were satisfied with the work performed. I have used other plumbing companies who did fine work but were more expensive, not saying that Capps is cheap, but they are more reasonable than others and I trust their workmanship. They have staff that do follow up calls on the service call within minutes of the plumber leaving to address any customer concerns. As far as service goes they would get 5 stars, the only reason I gave 4 stars is due to cost. But in the end you get what you pay for and so far I am happy with them. read more
