I used South River Auto Service for about seven to eight months as I was working in the Edgewater…read morearea. This auto service is by far the worst experience I've ever had. My last and final visit; I brought my car in because it was having transmission problems. I received a call from Dan (the owner) the following day, and he said "your car needs a transmission, good luck finding one." So being very concerned I said, "what should I do"? He went on to say "well there's something called the internet." Okay, what does that mean? "You're going to want to find a transmission for us to install. I have my best guy out looking for one; he found one in a junkyard, it's $900 and it's a crapshoot." So two weeks of searching and looking for a place with a solid transmission that would be compatible for my car, I did manage to find one and Dan from SRAS said they would be able to do the job. They installed it and when I picked up the car he said "it drives good and shifts good." So I paid just about $2,000 to South River Auto Service and was under the assumption everything was fixed. Approximately four months go by and the transmission that Daniel Eisel and mechanics installed was already destroyed. If SRAS had been honest and said we will not be able to complete this job; I recommend you take your car to a mechanic specializing in transmissions. Especially, after all the money I spent and what I got in return. (i.e. Essex/Glen Burnie transmissions offer a 1-year/ 12,000-mile warranty on rebuilt transmissions and a 3-year/ 100,000-mile warranty on remanufactured transmissions) You will overspend your hard earned money if you take your car to South River Auto Service. Oftentimes, your car will not be fixed properly and you will be left with many issues to come.

I had both my cars here for the MD State Inspection, and it was fantastic. Scheduling the…read moreappointments was very easy, the person I spoke with on the phone was helpful and polite. The service was above and beyond. They text you a link so you know when they've started your work and when they've finished it. Then I received an email with a document including the breakdown of the entire inspection with notes and pictures. It was unexpected but so nice to have a report to look at other than just a verbal "pass" or "fail" from the mechanic. The inspection was reasonably priced (we paid ~$90) and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get their inspections done.

I was…read moreexpecting the worst but their correct diagnosis was a loose serpentine belt caused by a cracked belt tensioner. They replaced the tensioner and it is running fine now. My two negatives are that it took 4 days to complete the repair and the cost. As I mentioned, repair shops like to get their replacement parts from the dealership. Ostensibly to provide a warranty. In this case, an aftermarket tensioner would have sufficed and a $500 repair became a $1000 repair because the tensioner purchased from the dealership was $450. Good work but be fully specific on what you expect.

After a test drive I advised it is for my wife and asked if I could put down a deposit for the vehicle so my wife could drive it first. I expressed we were extremely interested in the car however I pressed on time. They advised they would not do it and made zero attempts to assist in the sale. The only option they gave was buy the vehicle. This is the only dealership I have been to that does this. So I in a rushed state we had to put a down payment of the vehicle since they refused to hold it any amount of time and we had to buy it. The next day we returned to pick up the vehicle. It was at least washed but didn't even come with a tank of gas, which I felt was silly and showed the amount of care they have for their customers. Only nice thing about the whole process was being able to do the forms online since I had to work so that's why I gave it two stars.
