Very nice people. They are helpful, and they have a great selection of products. Much preferred over the corporate placed in town.

I saw this place on the Internet, so I drove over from Abilene. I bought a nice Resistol straw hat, and I am well pleased with it. They had a nice selection of straw hats. This is not a giant superstore. It's a one of a kind country store. You always wanna try a hat or a boot on to make sure it fits.. ordering online hoping for the best is risky. read more

Took my favorite but well worn hat and 2 pair of boots. Excellent job on the 1/2 soles and heel caps were expertly done. They have earned my boot repair business and I get a fair amount worked on yearly. The most impressive job was on the hat they blocked for me. I have had this hat for over 10 years and it got worn a lot. It fit perfectly but was getting worn out. Capital Hatters measure the hat ask some questions and 6 weeks later I picked up an expertly cleaned hat with a new lining and sweat band. It looked brand new. I wish I took some before pictures, but I have been recommending them to all my friends. They have a great selection of straw hats as well as felts. They do a custom hats. I am very likely to give them a try there as well. read more

I had a Wolvervine work boot that was uncomfortable in the inside heel. Without even handling the boot, Capital Hatters said they couldn't repair anything INSIDE a boot -- only soles and heels. The boots were still in good condition except for this one issue, so I took them home and closely inspected them. I found that the heel liner had become unglued and folded down such that the heel of my foot was standing on it. I applied contact cement to both surfaces and folded the heel liner back into its proper position. Now the boots are fine. I conclude that if a boot repair shop could not have repaired my boot, they couldn't repair much of anything. Maybe they do good work on soles and heels, but if they didn't want to work on my boot merely because it was a "small potatoes" repair, they should have said so. read more

Went in for a black hat and they had absolutely nothing in stock and everything was on the backorder 6 to 7 months for a custom hat. I understand it's a custom store and they're pretty famous but need to have some black hats in stock. read more

I went in to see if my favorite wristlet could repaired, and much to my surprise, it was repaired in less than 10 minutes! The gentleman that helped was very nice and wouldn't let me pay for his services. I highly recommend them. read more

I was in town for work and wanted to check out some cowboy hats and boots. I walked in to Capital Hatters and was greeted right away. The smell of the store was amazing, you the know clean smell and leather !? Anyway, both the men in the store working were such gentlemen, who I now refer to as The Cowboys. Anyway, I ended up purchasing two hats for my sons on The Cowboys recommendation. They offered to ship it home since I showed worry on how I would carry them on the plane. They arrived home in perfect condition!! And I have to say, my boys were so happy to wear them! I couldn't be more happier with my experience with Capital Hatters and I think anyone visiting should stop by and check it out. read more

Need a new hat or your boots resoled? Well step right up partner, this is the place. My neighbors son works here, so we're just a visiting. Tommy wanted his cowboy hat styled a little different, and Cody did it while we watched. I lead such an exciting life. Good selection of hats, from reasonable to outrageous. The huge leather shop can probably do anything you want. They do good work, so give them a try. read more

Another great experience at capital hatters!! They fixed my fathers hat to fit my son's head. Thank you so much.

This guy must have all the customers he needs. He acted like he'd just as soon crap on my head rather than sell me a hat. I'll never step foot in there again. Must've interrupted his lunchtime. read more

We went to get a couple new hats and had an awesome experience! Very friendly service! Definitely recommend!!!

WOW. Upon the recommendation of a neighboring rancher, I mailed an old 1960s silver belly Stetson off for cleaning to Capital Hatters in Stephenville, Texas. Owner James Andrae did an utterly superb job --- the very best workmanship of any ever seen! Instead of a dirty, beat-up ol' cowboy hat, we now have a meticulously cleaned, perfectly rolled and shaped, fine Western hat, fitted with new sweatband and classic, grosgrain exterior band, also a luxurious, slightly darker grey, new satin headliner that's downright gorgeous, all by itself! The finished work shows sheer artistry that really couldn't be bettered. Even the brim's edge-bevelling was properly attended in a neat-yet-conservative manner. New hats, custom-created hats, or old hats restored --- all priced quite reasonably, too! --- I earnestly recommend Capital Hatters of Stephenville, Texas. read more

They have a great selection of hats at great prices! We have always had excellent and friendly service.

Felt very unwelcome, the guy we spoke to didn't seem to want our business. I recommend another store to get your next hat.

Nice store, looks like they do go work on hats. Very rude to deal, pretty much the general gist I got from everyone else that has been there. Highly recommend just going somewhere else that would appreciate your business. read more
