Scheduler was quite rude and hung up on me when I attempted to reschedule a pre-colonoscopy virtual appointment. Initially, she refused to cancel it because 'it is so far in advance' so I explained that it was set up without my approval and I cannot make that appointment. She finally agreed to cancel and then hung up on me. I started to wish her a good day and to enjoy her weekend but she was long gone. She should realize that she is not tasked with doing favors - it is to provide professional, courteous patient services. read more

I have been going to this office for about 7 years and always find the front desk staff to be unkind, unfriendly, and rude but recently, I had an actual horrible experience with them. I wrote to the office about this experience but have not heard back from anyone to acknowledge my message or my experience. I think the reason front desk staff can behave this way is because they know that they can get away with bad behavior and they have the support of the Administrator and providers. I hope my review is helpful to anyone considering using their services. "I am writing to let you know that I have been through hell and back to try to get my prescription for Pantoprazole renewed. On August 16th, CVS Care Mark requested that you renew my prescription. It wasn't until the week of September 3rd that I found out (because I had to call, myself) that you hadn't bothered to authorize the prescription--two and a half weeks late. By the time your office responded, I had almost no medicine left and didn't have enough time for CareMark to send me the prescription. I leave for an overseas trip in a few hours and it took my five phone calls to your office and 3 or 4 to CVS to finally get authorization. Now I'm having to pay out of pocket for the medicine. I am sorry to say that I will never use your services again nor recommend you to anyone else. It's a shame because everyone at the office was so friendly." read more

This place isn't run well. I sacrificed my Christmas to prep for colonoscopy on 12/26. I haven't eaten or slept in 36 hours. I was instructed to arrive 45 minutes before scheduled procedure. Out of respect, I arrived an hour early to ensure I would not be late. I have been waiting an hour. This is in the morning so how an experienced medical staff in a well run facility could be running this behind schedule this early in the day is astounding. It is the height of disrespectful to their paying customers. Can you imagine what would happen if I arrived an hour late. I'll update this post later when I actually know how late they actually are - it is an hour and counting so far. I just have to warn others that this has to be the worst practice of the Capital Digestive Care Company, because not only do they call you a day before a procedure and let you know after five years that you have a past due balance, but then they refuse to cancel your appointment, in order to assess a fee and make money from an appointment that they refused to cancel. They prescribe solutions/prep kits that actually irritate your body before the procedure. I discovered from a family member that they performed my colonoscopy completely wrong. Then, to make matters worse if you have an allergic reaction to a local anesthetic before a procedure, they don't offer another alternative anesthetic; you just fall asleep in pain and agony! They are just the worst practice so be warned before you attempt to make an appointment in this office. I am not certain if it is the staff, office managers or the doctors, but the practice is run very poorly. My suggestion is to try another practice within Capital Digestive Care Company. read more

I don't know why they are getting low ratings. I had a procedure a couple of years ago, and everything was fine. And more recently (March 2020), they did me a big favor. My terrible insurance company doesn't cover a standard pre-procedure medicine. Instead of forcing me to have an inferior product, Capital Digestive Care found me a free sample of the one they want me to use. A big thank-you from me to them. As for the office staff, which seems to generate complaints from Yelpers, I would agree that response time is slower than I'd like. But the responses are accurate and sensible when they do arrive, so I'd rate it as pretty good. read more

If you look at some of the reviews for this practice, you will see a common theme.....'the doctors are wonderful but the office staff is terrible'. Well, that's my opinion too. I have been a patient of Dr. Kreisberg for a long time and IMO he is excellent. Unfortunately, I have had to find another gastroenterologist simply because the office staff is so bad that I have been unable to make an appointment. After two calls that degenerated to screaming on the telephone, I have given up. Too bad, this is an excellent doctor but I can't deal with the staff any more. read more

Adele Winley was a terrible practitioner. I waited an exorbitant amount of time for my appointment. I had to ask multiple times about follow up as well and even got the run around about my copay. When I had pain symptoms after, she would not speak to me or do anything to help me and I played phone tag with the medical assistant. She then lied and said I didn't do something when I did and was verbally degrading to me. Stay away!!!!!!!!! I was treated the worst I've ever been treated by any practitioner ever. It's not how you treat someone especially when they are sick. It's shameful!!!! If I could give this place negative stars I would. read more

This place is a joke. Unless you have a form of cancer, they will not help you. Especially if they run two-three tests that come out normal. It doesn't matter what your symptoms are, they don't care. In terms of efficiency? Non-existent. I received my bill following my endoscopy and went to the website link provided on the bill. Somehow, my payment went to the wrong vendor. Instead of taking responsibility, they in no way have helped me to get this resolved and want to blame me! Yet, I somehow manage to pay my other bills correctly. Dr. Kreisberg is a wonderful doctor: kind, caring, immensely knowledgable, thorough, and a true professional. I do not know any of the other doctors in the group, as my family members are all seen by Dr. Kreisberg. I see that others in yelp are commenting on some administrative incompetence in the office; I cannot comment on that as I have generally had a good experience but this likely 100% due to the care I have received by Dr. Kreisberg himself. But I do feel that despite the difficulties that other yelpers have described, all of which, I have no doubt are legitimate and founded, it is worth it to be a patient of Dr. Kresiberg's and other caring doctors in the group (many of whom I believe are mentioned in other reviews below). read more

Dr. Kreisberg is the most amazing caring doctor I have every come across. Having ulcerative colitis, fibromyalgia and endometriosis I have been to lots of doctors. Dr. Kreisberg has been with me for 6 years and I would not have survived these illnesses without him. He has always been so encouraging and supportive. One thing that I appreciate the most is that he takes the time to make sure you understand and are comfortable with everything that is happening. I highly recommend him to anyone experiencing any gastrointestinal issues. Ie. stomach pain, indigestion, heart burn, diarrhea, etc. The receptionists are also very kind and helpful. My medications are always filled promptly through CVS. I use the auto-refill option so i don't even have to think about it. It's there at the pharmacy waiting for me by the time I run out. read more

A complete disaster from start to finish. The only reason we went with the group is because we wanted to receive care from Dr. Musselman, who is an excellent doctor. That's where the excellence ends, and Dr. Musselman would do well to find a better group to associate with. Before scheduling a procedure, I was forced to make an appointment with a physician's assistant. The incompetent staff at the office refused to let me join my spouse in the consultation room until I complained loudly and threatened to walk out. We were told that we would get a call to schedule the procedure within five days of our visit. It is now six weeks later, the office finally called, and were unable to offer us any dates with Dr. Musselman. We're not even sure whether he is still with the practice. The scheduling coordinator was completely incompetent, and really couldn't care whether we received any quality of service. Six weeks ago, they were blaming everything on their "new computer system", and they're still doing it now. This excuse was plausible 20 years ago, but it's bullshit now. We may proceed in working with this tragic farce of a company so that we can get the procedure done this year and have it covered by our health insurance. As usual, the quality of our care is compromised because it all comes down to the profit margin of the insurance company rather than our physical health. God awful wait and incompetent staff, but knowledgeable doctor. The receptionists sent us to their Rockville location for a 10:15 appointment and we get there at 10:10 to find out the appointment is at this Silver Spring office, even though we called twice to confirm the appointment was in rockville. So, we ended up getting here at 10:30 and had to wait until 1pm to see the doctor because the receptionists messed up and "squeezed us in." Doctor Schindler was very good however and answered all of our questions and is very friendly and experienced. The staff on the other hand is extremely rude and every single one of them was glued to their phone texting (despite multiple "no cell phones!" signs) and talking loudly to each other when their supervisor was not around. The office runs too slow,after 1 hour I approached the desk to tell the receptionist that I was leaving. I don't usually give a whole hour because my time is valuable. They brought in to the office after vital signs and weight check. Then I sat in a room and waited for the doctor. **THIS REVIEW IS NOT FOR DR. KREISBERG, AS I UNDERSTAND HE IS AN EXCELLENT PHYSICIAN.** The staff, however, is awful. SCHEDULING: Scheduling was easy. I provided my insurance information and confirmed the appointment via text message. DAY OF APPOINTMENT: I was running about five to ten minutes late, as I'd had a serious personal emergency and was essentially falling apart that entire day. A receptionist from the doctor's office called me when I was exactly two minutes away. I made my apologies for my tardiness, informed her that I'd experienced a personal emergency, and assured her that I was very close. The receptionist with whom I spoke was a bit snippy, but I was fine with it, as tardiness is an inconvenience. The conversation was relatively polite. I arrived in two minutes and parked my car. However, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out which entrance to use to get into the doctor's office. The building is a bit labyrinthine if one is unfamiliar with it. Once I found the proper entrance, I raced upstairs and announced myself. I was met with blank stares and rolling eyes. I felt like I was more of a nuisance than a new patient, and I was treated with disdain -- an experience I've never had at any physician's office in my life. After audible sighs and side eyes, one of the receptionists (whose name I didn't get, but who has medium-length, medium brown, straight hair and olive skin) looked at the other and rolled her eyes...again...and decided to page the doctor to find out whether I could still be seen. She handed the clipboard to me and asked me to fill out the paperwork. I gave her my insurance card and license. NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE?!: As I was filling out the paperwork, the same receptionist announced aloud that I didn't have insurance. I recently resigned from a job with the federal government so that I can focus on building my fledgling solo law practice, and I knew that my insurance would not cover medical visits beyond a certain date. However, three sources -- Human Resources from my former job, my former supervisor, and the insurance provider itself -- informed me *in writing* that I was covered for 31 days after departure. Further, I'd had a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks prior to trying to see Dr. Kreisberg, and I encountered absolutely zero problems with "termination of coverage." I explained this to the receptionist and was met with another blank stare. On the verge of breakdown, I maintained my composure and quietly picked up my phone to call HR at my former employer's executive office. No answer. The receptionist offered to call my health insurance provider and after a few minutes, claimed to have confirmed that I no longer have health insurance and that it was terminated on March 18th (a Saturday? Also not true because my paperwork wasn't processed at my former job until March 30th). She then told me I'd have to pay $180, just to be seen by the doctor. Honestly, the stress was too much for me to handle at the time while also trying to hold myself together. I've always held stress and anxiety in my stomach, and I've had issues with my stomach for as long as I can remember...which is why I was there to begin with. Anyway, I told her it was okay, and I left. AFTERMATH: I went outside and cried in my car for about ten minutes out of pure frustration. From beginning to end, that encounter was beyond unpleasant and felt almost adversarial, especially on the heels of the emergency I'd just dealt with earlier that morning. As staff for a healthcare provider, I'd imagine that it is part of one's job to be compassionate and maintain a professional, welcoming demeanor -- being ten or even 15 minutes late for an appointment as a new patient should not elicit the reception with which I was met. It is also necessary to assist patients competently. The office had my insurance information for at least a full week before my appointment; if there were actually an issue with my coverage, why was I not informed before coming in for my appointment? I called the office later that afternoon to try to straighten things out. Of course, I spoke with the same receptionist, who forwarded me to billing. I left a message with the staff at billing. No one has bothered to respond. CONCLUSION: I confirmed with HR today that my appointment should have been covered by my insurance. I have no idea how the receptionist at Capital Digestive Care reached the conclusion that I was not covered by insurance on the date of my appointment, and no one from that office has attempted to contact me to help me understand how that was possible. Though I cannot say so conclusively, that determination felt punitive rather than rooted in fact. The encounter I had at the Capital Digestive Care fell far below what anyone should expect from a physician's office. read more

We are fans of Dr. Roderick Kreisberg and the entire practice. My husband has experienced UC for 10 years now. He has seen the best doctors available, even the doctor who conducted the studies for VSL#3 (which is now made right here in Rockville) that is a special probiotic just for UC pts. After moving to the area, we did not know where to turn for my husbands UC care. He settled for a doctor who seemed to care but with the onset of a flare up, this doctor did not listen to my husband, who is also in the medical field and knows what he is talking about when it comes to symptoms. On a move of desperation, we found Capital Gastro and my husband was immediately admitted to Shady Grove hospital for 2 weeks. During this time, we had the opportunity to meet 6 or more of the physicians in this practice. Although each one had their own treatment plan, none of the doctors were too proud to not listen to my husband or myself and address all of our different concerns. Once my husband was out of the hospital, we started seeing Dr. Kreisberg at the Silver Spring office. He has been greatly attentive and thorough in the care for my husband. He includes both of us in the conversation as he realizes that both of us are in this journey of health together. We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Kreisberg and the team at Capital Gastro. The doctors have made a difficult situation bearable with their guidance and care. The areas of improvement are for the front office staff.
