I currently have three children, two biological and one stepchild, that attend Capital City Tae Kwon Do. In addition, we also have many friends whose children also attend, and we all of have nothing but positive things to say about CCTKD and the way the school is run and how the students and parents are treated while there. The owners are extremely professional and expect each student, as well as parents, to behave in a respectful manner. There are certain rules that students must follow as part of their training, and none of those rules are harmful to the students in any way. In fact, the rules are designed to help students be the best versions of themselves, and to carry themselves in a respectful way. I love that our children are taught lessons that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. I love that they are encouraged to help out in their communities and to make a difference in others' lives. I love that they are encouraged to spread their wings and try new things. I also love that when we walk through the doors, we are treated like family. I do not worry about our children's wellbeing when they walk through the doors. The owners take pride in each student's accomplishments and work hand-in-hand with them. They encourage the students to do the best they can, but also provide structure that children need in order to thrive. In addition, CCTKD is a great option for parents with children who have ADHD. My son was diagnosed years ago, and at times it has been challenging to get him to focus. Since becoming a student at CCTKD, his grades have improved, he's more helpful around the house, and he's able to focus better than ever before...all without the use of medication. I strongly advise any parent with a child like mine to check out their establishment. You can even try out a class to see how your child will respond in that atmosphere, which is great. Finally, I want to address the issue of contracts. Currently, my stepson is a second degree black belt at CCTKD. He was under contract for his first degree, and now is under a new three-year contract, as well. Before any contract was signed, we had a discussion with my stepson about what a contract means because we feel he's at an age now to fully comprehend what the ramifications are if we break said contract. He understands that we are paying a monthly fee for three years, even if he's not there. It does require dedication from not only the student, but the parents, as well. When you sign, you are agreeing to follow any rules and stipulations listed. If you don't agree with what is said, you shouldn't sign it. If you do sign it, that means you must abide by said contract. And if said contract states you must pay a monthly fee for the next three years, then you have to. If that's not a commitment that you or your child want to stick with, then I wouldn't recommend signing. I have signed many different types of contracts over the years, and all come with their own set of rules. As a freelance writer and blogger, I know that when I sign on the dotted line, I'm agreeing to whatever the company I'm working with has set forth for rules. And I know that if I don't follow through, there will be ramifications, one of which could mean I don't get paid. So, whenever I sign anything, I make sure to read what I'm signing so I understand it fully, so there aren't any surprises down the line. That is why my husband made sure to review the old and new contracts thoroughly before committing my stepson or us to anything. And if there is any confusion about the contract, the owners are more than willing to discuss it with you. I can say that based on our experience with CCTKD, it's a worthwhile commitment that will provide your child with many years of wonderful memories and lessons they will treasure forever. read more

My son who is extremely hyper and has sensory processing disorder started taking classes here a few years ago . Just after a couple weeks of classes I had his teachers asking me if his doctor had put him on medication because his behavior was so much better and he was able to focus more in school . I told them no , it must be what he's learning with the Blanchettes . I couldn't believe what a difference TKD there made in my son's life . My two daughters joined within a month or two and they've enjoyed learning . Not only are they learning a martial art , they are learning self disciple , respect and how to deal with people in a respectful way . I cannot say enough good things about this place and the Blanchettes . They are truly wonderful with the children. You can tell that they really care about the kids in how they teach them and how they listen to them . However , they are also stern and expect a lot , especially respect from all their students . My kids plan on completing their studies to their black belts . At testings I have heard such great testimony of kids that are now 16-18 that have been with CCTKD since they were very little and how Master B and Mrs B made such a positive and big influence in their lives , each story was heartwarming and sometimes sad as some of these children had lost parents and had struggled on their journeys but each one was thankful for what they called their other mom and dad ( the Blanchettes ) Anyhow , at first I was doubtful that this TKD would even help my son but I was in disbelief and surprised to what a wonderful difference it has made in my child . read more

My son has been enrolled in the after school program for several years now. The owners are exceptional people, very professional, and are great with kids. I have no reservations about sending my son there. Reading a few of the old reviews - I see people complaining about black belt contracts. I have signed one for my son, and have no issues. From a business prospective they have to plan training, time and materials. All I can say is read the contract ahead of time - if you don't like it, don't sign it. In my family's case, it was a good deal as we plan to keep our son enrolled here for years to come. The skills, confidence and discipline my son has learned and gained here are exceptional. My boy has ADD (does not have the "H" component, just has trouble paying attention), martial arts in general have been proven to help with this, and Capital City TKD is no exception. His focus has improved and even his school attentiveness has as well. In all I would highly recommend parents in the Concord / Penacook area consider this program. read more

I definitely recommend CCTKD! I have been going since I was in the third grade and still continuing through college! Not only has Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B taught me Tae Kwon Do, they taught me so many great values and discipline I will cherish throughout my life. My 2 children have been going here since we moved from Massachusetts approximately 4 years ago. Being new in the area and having kids that have already been in Taekwondo for 5 years, I did a Google search for a new local school. After reading reviews, I decided to give CCTKD a call. I spoke to the owner, Master Blanchette, explained the situation my kids were in. After a very good conversation with him, I learned that they would be able to start where they left off at their previously contracted school. We took them for an introductory class and we immediately knew this was the place to continue their training. We then signed our contracts, and have been going ever since. We are now into our second contract. We now have 1 black belt student and the other one will be testing for their black belt by July! I can't say anything bad about these 2! This place is not only amazing but it's my village and it truly takes a village to mold strong, courteous, respectful children in today's day and age. Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B hold all of the children and adults accountable for their behavior and actions and teach the most important lessons of the day and you can see that in the middle and high school black belts that help teach alongside the Masters on any given day. My 10 year old son just told me the other day, that he is so thankful that I found CCTKD and signed him up for classes three years ago. I have no doubt in my mind that Capital City Tae Kwon Do is where my son learns his important life lessons, those lessons far more important to his life than being able to read, write and compute. Absolutely amazing! Our daughter has been going here since 2015 and she absolutely loves it! Master and Master Mrs. B are both amazing caring wonderful people. Our daughter has loved them from day one. They take pride in their teachings and in their school. Right now it has been hard for our daughter during Covid, because she has been unable to go. We do have a contract with them because she is a Junior Black Belt and she wished to continue on, however because she hasn't been able to go, they have been AMAZING in working with us regarding the contract. That is how much they care for their kids! I know that they are currently open because of their love and dedication. They work hard to keep the facility clean and everyone safe and healthy. This school is amazing. My son went to this school for ten years and in that time they helped his father and I teach him respect, self discipline, determination and perseverance. I 100% believe that Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B have helped my son transform into the person he is today. For many years I was a loyal customer. I lost faith in this establishment after what was essentially a misunderstanding. I was berated and yelled at in a way that made me feel uncomfortable. I pulled my children from the program and I was sued for $10,000 since we had signed a contract. Unfortunately, we were the 4th family they have taken to court.
