Had a great experience today when my wife and I rode our bikes in Madison, Wisconsin. We started our trek at a parking lot along the Capital City State Trail on Lake Farm Rd. located about 5 miles southeast of the city. The trail, which opened in 2000, is constructed of smoothly paved asphalt and well is maintained with lanes identified by clearly painted lines.
As we headed into the capital city, the scenery transitions from plenty of trees and foliage to the splendor of the banks of the beautiful Lake Monona. At this point , the Capital City State Trail becomes the John Nolan Path for the balance of the trip into downtown "Mad Town".
The city of Madison, with a population of more than 250,000, is Wisconsin's State Capital as well as home of the University of Wisconsin Badgers. I've been to Madison several times over the years and always enjoyed this college town.
The city is actually sandwiched between Lake Medota and Lake Monona and these glistening lakes provide boundless recreation to this area of the Cheese State. Today, we totally enjoyed biking around Lake Monona as part of our 10 mile ride. Highly recommended. read more
