I often end up in Capital Cabs because they have one of those numbers you can't forget and they also seem to be the most common amongst the taxi ranks in the city centre, plus they have those big taxis that we can bundle 8 people into for a bit less money! Its a bit hit and miss with the drivers, some are super friendly and love a natter, others are less cheery, and you can't really blame them for that at 2am dealing with the tenth trip of drunks! On multiple occasions (4-5 times) over the last 6 months, I have booked and pre paid for taxi many hours in advance, only to have none show. I work nights for a supermarket, as part of the food delivery chain. I rely on taxi service to get me to work, to allow me to help food orders be delivered, including to vulnerable people. No decency to contact me to let me know taxi won't be on time. Yesterday evening was last straw, again no contact to advise taxi will not be on time, when I called to track, phone picked up and put straight back down. Stressful enough to be putting mine and my family's health at risk by still working during this pandemic, never mind not having my work transport show up. Even when they have shown up, most of the time the taxi driver just moans about how they don't see money from my fare for 2 weeks as I have paid contact-less by pre booking using the app. And to top it all, they still have my money from pre booking a taxi that never showed, as they take a larger than fare booking fee in advance, and take over a week to refund back to my card. Normally, drivers show up 10 minutes before your scheduled departure, which is a bit annoying, but it's better than being late, I suppose. Having used Capital for 5 years and only them, after today's service I will never use them again. Twice I booked a taxi on their app- I received absolute NO notifications that either bookings were cancelled. We waited 20 minutes, in the cold and rain and I have bad sciatica at the moment so i was in excruciating pain waiting. Finally I rang, when there was no updates on the app. I was polite and explained that there maybe there was a problem with the app to be talked over and interrupted by THE most ignorant, rude dispatcher! God knows what this woman is doing working in customer service! She'd be better off working somewhere you don't have to work with people!! She would not let me talk, tried to fob me off with excuse and was the most unhelpful person I have ever come across! She wouldn't even let me talk to explain the situation properly!! Capital Cabs are yet to ever let me down. They always seem to have a car available in my area exactly when I want it! The longest I have ever had to wait for a car to arrive is ten minutes! The prices are on par with the other cab services in Cardiff BUT this company offers the added extra of having a card machine on board! This is great if your in a hurry and you just haven't got time to mess around trying to find a cash machine! The drivers are all very nice and I feel safe getting into one of these cars whatever the time of day! Store their number in your phone now....02920 777 777... banned me for cancelling a taxi 1 minute later, very rude and unprofessional, I would highly recommend to avoid these, never had a problem before whilst speaking to others but whoever that woman was on the phone needs to be sacked, I'm assuming she is the manager as I emailed a complaint to admin and still received attitude in the email. read more

You know what's it like you spend a couple of hours getting ready, putting your make up on and getting your hair all set to impress the fellas and then you get a cab and you have no cash so you have to run to a cash point machine in wet 70 mph winds. But the time you get ot the club you look like you've come in fancy dressed as vampire's bride. Ok - that scenario doesn't happen to me that often but it is a common problems my partner used to have until Capital installed credit card machines in their taxis - about time I say! Don't think that because you have booked a taxi from them in advance that it will arrive anywhere near on time. I booked a taxi the previous evening for 8.15 am and eventually it arrived at 9 am and I missed my doctor's appointment. In the meantime every time I called to check on progress I was told it would arrive in another ten minutes. If they had been honest I could have tried to get a taxi from another company. read more

Really disappointed with this service. We booked a taxi for 6.25 pm (booked the day in advance because we knew it's gonna be busy due to the rugby)- we needed to be on time as we booked tickets in the comedy club and they won't let you in if you are late! The taxis we booked (for 10 people) were not on time! When we rang them we were told that they are really busy and that there was nothing they could do for us to get the taxis to us quicker. I told them that we pre-booked all the taxis and they said that if there was none of their taxis in our area (Heath) 10 minutes before we want to depart, they are likely to be late! I tried to explain that this was bad service and wouldn't happen with a rival company but they didn't have any of that and would insist on the fact that there was nothing they could do apart from sending us 3 taxis for which we would have to pay more as they wouldn't cover the difference to what we booked! A truly awful experience. I booked a taxi for five people for 28th. Nov. 36 hours before, thinking that I wouldn't have a problem. I confirmed the booking 10 mins before it was due to arrive - all OK, the next to be allocated. 15 mins after it was due they told me that there was nothing in my area. 10 mins later thay told me that they could.nt guarantee a time at all. What's the point in booking? I won't use them again. No idea of customer service. Awful, awful! read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I've never had problems with taxi services in Cardiff but on Saturday night (4th July) when I arrived I had the most appalling service. Firstly, when we stopped he added an extra £1 onto the fare on a £6.40 journey, bringing it up to £7.40. We requested to be dropped off near Albany Road so it shouldn't have been such a high fare. Then, after handing over a £10 note and clearly asking for my change the driver quickly got back into his seat and drove off. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Completely ruined our night out! Had to call 4 times to get 2 cabs. Repeatedly got told the wrong type and colour of car that was turning up. The first cab drove off and was really rude, refusing to wait for the second even though we ordered together. Called up and was told we'd be sent two more and they'd wait for each other. The subsequent three cabs were rude, late and went so far as to ignore us completely and keep whistling when we asked him a question! worst taxi company in Cardiff. Not only are the divers rude, but also the people in the office are arrogant and disrespectful. I gave the driver £10 and expected change back. He refused to give me back any money and claimed that this was the price I had to pay. [I usually pay £5 for this way] Once I asked him where his meter is, he couldn't show me and said he doesn't have one. Then he just drove off. I called the office to complain about him, but instead of helping the customer, this woman started yelling at me and blaming me for what happened. Her only argument was that she "knows that guy" and "there were never any problems". She was also not able to help me in this situation. Apparently at capital cab it is ok for taxi drivers to be rude, to refuse to give change, to not use the meter and they get the support from the office for their wrong behavior. Never again.
