Note: A lot of places across Spain have a minimum requirement of 2 or more for the kitchen to prepare any paella but just like the name, the Miracle wants you to order individually or to share two different varieties of paella. My foodie tastebuds are very satisfied! Near the end, the manager came by to say "Etas Bien?" Indeed it was! While it might not stand out from curbside appeal, it's definitely a standout experience in the quaint little town of Tarragona!

The eating area has a lovely comfortable feel, like somebody's large living room who has invited you for dinner. The house specializes in Argentinian beef and Spanish rice and seafood, and it delivers in spades. For starters, we had a huge bowl of simply steamed mussels and an Argentinian beef empanada, all delicious. Main courses were "arroz con mariscos" for two (rice with seafood) and a very delicate Argentinean chuletón, a tender steak that came with perfect potato fries and red peppers. There was a bit left of the rice because the portion was big, which was taken back to the hotel and made for a perfect small dinner! Desserts were the panqueque con dulce de leche and a cheese cake with a fruit sauce, both superb. The cheese cake is not the NYC type, rather the European variety made with ricotta, but just as tasty. In short, meals at Cal Coco are made with simple ingredients, cooked expertly but without fuss and served piping hot from the kitchen. Service by the family owners is prompt and full of warmth. Both Torredembarra and Cal Coco are a surprising treat if you are in the Barcelona area.

Les Vinyes served up a delicious platter of perfectly-cooked peppers, which paired very well with our chilled wine. We then had the lamb ribs and the salmon "tacos" for our entrees. The tacos are definitely NOT tacos as you would expect in America - they're much better! Think of a cracker served with a large chunk of raw sushi salmon with guacamole and hummus... mmm. The lamb also was a great choice, and looking around the restaurant, I didn't see a single dish that looked unappetizing. We then ended with some of the house desserts. When we left, people were filling the place, so the locals definitely know where the good food is at. All in all, we ended up paying less than $50 American for a three course meal with bread and wine for two people, which I think is a great deal.
