Lots of food vendors and a hodge podge of crafters and yard sale type of items. It was quite interesting to see how the food vendors incorporate Lima beans into their dishes. The festival was quite crowded and there were a lot of ppl there. There was live music and a Lima bean queen, King, and I think princess contest. At every festival, I am most excited about the food, of course. I got a pistachio and Lima bean muffin which was excellent. The aromatic flavors of the pistachio were amazing. The Lima beans inside were a little strange and didn't add much to the muffin besides a weird hard bean texture. I also bought some Kobe sliders with a Lima bean aioli. The aioli didn't add much flavor either. Not a strong Lima bean presence. Lima beans don't have that much flavor to begin with so there wasn't much to expect I guess. I didn't try any other Lima bean specialities bc I wasn't very hungry plus the lines were a little insane. I did notice that the ppl selling Lima bean chili was quite popular. There were also a lot of Lima bean merchandise for sale: t shirts, hoodies, hats & caps, and bags. We didn't explore that much bc we were socializing with some friends at the festival. Oops. Oh well there's always next year! Overall, I had fun and the hubs was impressed with this festival. Most of the ones we've been to so far were pretty dinky and boring. This one was lively and bumping! I sure would hope so since it's their 30th annual Lima bean festival. Come check it out next year bc we surely will!

Great beach in Cape May obviously for the sunsets but for a couple other reasons as well…read more I believe every Monday-Wednesday-Friday they lower a flag honoring a veteran. During the ceremony they play America the Beautiful, the National Anthem and Taps. It's a great thing to witness and an honor for the families of the veterans represented. They also have a few shops and Mini golf course here. Every year I stop here there seems to be more things to do here. The old cement ship is still here too.....there seems to be LESS of this every time I visit. If you're in Cape May this is a great stop for the flag ceremony and the sunset.

Sunset Beach is a must-visit every time I go to the Jersey Cape - have watched the ship off shore slowly be reclaimed by the elements. It has also been interesting to watch the little shops slowly expand and update from year to year - now featuring plenty (usually) of parking, a mini golf course, a small but nice restaurant, nearby concrete WWII tower converted to a museum, etc. I have noticed that the Cape May Diamonds® are thinning out a bit compared to the late 70s, but there are still plenty to find - which makes this a great location to take the kids & the great thing is you don't have to spend a dime if you don't want to. Also, there is a reason for the name - great location to watch sunsets out over the bay! Highly recommended!

It's not a city I would like to spend too much time in. It's sort of a hybrid between Atlantic City and Cape May, but it misses the main point of both, which in the first case is gambling, and in the second case is peaceful beautiful resplendent Victorian charm. But one place in Wildwood is worth spending time. On the boardwalk. The boardwalk is very cool in a very old style way. I prefer the ones in Seaside Heights, AC, Coney Island, and others, but still. Yay Boardwalk.

Ghost in the Graveyard, a variation of hide & seek, was popular. I also love history, and this cemetery I played in had early settler & revolutionary war graves. It's not unusual for me to seek out an old cemetery when traveling, so I was delighted when fellow Yelper Dee M told me about this sacred, nearly forgotten place. I am pleased to report that since her visit, local organizations have worked together to restore and maintain this place. They have cleared fallen trees, pulled weeds, trimmed grasses, repaired tombstones and made a memorial to fallen, unknown African- American civil war soldiers. They have done a very good job and should be commended for their work. Most of the headstones are 19th - early 20th century, with a mix of familiar and unique sentiments. Most are marble or sandstone, with the unfortunate weathered appearance. A few are now VA supplied granite, and still fewer likely granite replacements placed by descendants. You will not see grand, elaborate sculptures or tall spires, that was the way of the very wealthy who wanted to be noticed. These are much more, er, normal markings of the time. It's a serene space, sacred and beautiful in its own way. You can drive down a short dirt road to reach it (being mindful of private home driveways), or you can park on the side of the road and walk back. I highly recommend bug spray in warm months.
