The tour winds through the charming, rustic streets of Ketchikan before making a splash--literally--into the harbor for some incredible waterfront views. The live narration was fun, informative, and full of puns that kept us laughing the whole way. Our guide shared interesting facts and trivia about the town's history and culture, and we were lucky enough to spot bald eagles soaring overhead. The mix of entertainment and sightseeing made it easy to decide where we wanted to go next once the tour ended. If you're in Ketchikan and want to get your bearings (or stay dry), this tour is a must. Only fun people allowed--and it shows! Captain Jonathan and Allyson were amazing!

Great experience!!!!…read more Booked with them directly instead of the cruise ship. Yes, I'm like most don't want to risk getting left.... however, if you plan it right by shuttling downtown shortly after docking and book an early tour, it certainly works out and saves you money. Stacy called me first thing in the morning and wisely moved my tour up 1/2 hour since NCL was casting off ridiculously early. That was very kind of her and shows the forethought of the company, because they didn't have to do that. Could've reasoned... "that's the time you booked, oh well." But that really says alot about them. Great tour, friendly and well trained staff. Highly recommend!!

We walked casually through the forest while learning about the surrounding area and wildlife. We saw some eagles on our walk and eventually came upon the boardwalk near the salmon hatchery where we happened upon a black bear with its recent catch of salmon. After being mesmerized with the bear we walked further on the boardwalk to spy a ton of eagles perched in the trees and along areas in the low tide. Many full grown and juvenile eagles were spotted. Next we headed to watch a totem being carved them onto the blacksmithing area. Because we spent extra time with the bear we had a tad less time to wander around the grounds before boarding the bus again and heading back to the port. I thoroughly enjoyed the educational aspects of the excursion as well as the live appearances from the wildlife. It was an intimate tour with 11 of us total plus Ella. We really enjoyed the beautiful day outside along with wildlife spotting!

As we approached the hatchery, Emily was informed there was a black bear eating salmon in the area. We ended up watching the female bear eating, resting, catching salmon, and walking next to us ( in a safe distance of course). It was such a wonderful bonus experience! The gift store was well stocked, and price was reasonable. Highly recommend!

If you go in their gift show you can see a video of the boat in the show. I had my doubts about this excursion. I wasn't really looking forward to it as it didn't seem interesting to me. As it turns out I loved it. My favorite bit was seeing all the eagles up close. We didn't see much wild life on our Alaskan Cruise. We saw two harbor Seas at the glacier and the back of a whale on the same boat. So seeing the eagles was a rush. We weren't promised eagles on this excursion. As it turns out you will see the eagles where the salmon our during salmon season snacking on fresh salmon. Since we were there the week of June 9, 2025 before salmon season we saw eagles. Dut to the boat goes into indigenous waters they are allowed to feed the eagles frozen fish. This only works when it's not during salmon season. As during salmon season they prefer fresh salmon. They would through the frozen fish in the water and the eagles would scoop them up. It was execrating. We saw so many eagles and I got so many good shots of them on my point and shoot camera with a zoom. This was the highlight of the excursion. I am a selfie lover and I even felt comfortable handing my camera to staff members and other guests and getting even better pictures of us. This was the perfect excursion for great pictures. We went on the second deck and a staff member was taking pictures of people with the Bouyes and giant crab traps. We sat on the first deck. It was pleasant weather so we didn't need there long rain coats, but I believe the people on the top deck had them as it was a little windy up there. We had 3rd row seats and that was perfect. The first row was designated for handicapped and allowed for wheelchairs. We had 2 people in front row seats in wheelchairs and they were very comfortable. During the crews talks they stopped and let us hold the crabs. One was a standard crab and another was a box crab that we were allowed to hold and take pictures with. I also got to hold a starfish. I though it would be prickly but it turned out to be very soft to the touch. The crew showed us how they pulled in the crab traps and talked about their experiences being on the crabbing boat. It was very interesting. I loved the hands on experience of it all. In the end I was really glad I went on this excursion. It was expensive, but in the end with all the hands on and great pictures we came away with it was money well spent. I'm all about the pictures.

Date of tour: July 18, 2025…read more Really enjoyed this all-women(!) crew on our visit to the Dawes Glacier. The boat was clean and spacious--there's nothing worse than being on a boat that is packed to the gills with people--with two levels to enjoy and outside areas as well, including a third level that was opened when the boat was not in motion. Everyone was friendly and the snack and drink options were plentiful and for the most part, affordable. Given the captive audience, I appreciated that they weren't outright gouging us during our journey. They also offered up some free items as well, which was also quite unexpected. Crew interacted well with the passengers, asking them how their cruise has been and where they were from. The collection of glacier ice to be used in the making of drinks at no additional cost was a nice touch, even giving the kids cups of glacier ice without a charge was something you rarely see in this day and age! There were some things that could be improved, though: - The captain scolding the crew over the public address system was unnecessary. Apparently the other boat forgot their net and we needed to pass it over to them but the crew was busy helping passengers and didn't want to make the lines longer by going to fetch the net and pass it over. Confident that this could have been handled better. - The free donut holes were awful. Like puffs of stale bread that sat next to sugar, hoping the wind would blow some sweetness onto them. I know, it's free, but still something that should not have been served. - Hearing a crew member awkwardly navigate the tipping section of the credit card machine literally 50 times the exact same way. Saying, "You can just hit skip. If I do it, I'll get talked to about it." There are so many other ways to handle this that don't come across like she's going to be beaten at the end of the cruise.
