The line through TSA was super short when I got here for a flight. The agents were all super friendly. No lounges, just a lot of benches. It can go from super empty in here to super packed really quickly. Boarding and landing is outside in the elements. Good thing I came when the weather was dry. There are shuttle buses to downtown via the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority. It was free when I visited. Taxis and rideshare (lyft and uber) also available. Car rental through Hertz and Windmill close-by. Operated seasonally (spring through early fall). Airlines include: American, Jetblue, Delta, Cape Air.

I came in and asked for a fuel truck, for a top-off. He said, "ohhhh, we can't do THAT now. We are busy" I said, oh, ok... well, when you have a chance. His response, "I don't when that will be," me, starting to get pretty annoyed "well, when you get free, just top it off!" He says, "oh, we need to know exactly how much fuel you want, we can't just 'top it off'. I said, wow, you've got to be kidding me, we'll just go somewhere else. He said, "maybe you should" We left, went to another airport to top it off and came home. We've never experienced such rudeness and outright TERRIBLE customer service as here in Cape Air at PVC - and I've traveled the world as a professional pilot for many years.

After a long travel day, dragging luggage that distance is definitely not ideal, so be prepared for a serious walk if you're renting a vehicle. Also... no Starbucks? Absolutely wild. For an airport, that honestly feels unbelievable. Sometimes travelers just want something familiar, quick, and dependable before or after a flight, and not having one was definitely noticed. The airport itself is currently under construction in some areas, but that had nothing to do with the rental car location or the lack of a Starbucks. Those were simply the biggest inconveniences of the experience for me personally. Other than that, the airport experience was decent enough, but definitely wear comfortable shoes and plan accordingly if you're renting a car.

This is resulted in crowding at the gates and into major inconveniences like the only bathrooms being at gate12 so if you're at gate one or two it's quite a walk to get there. Today's adventure started early in the morning because I had a flight at 8 AM so we arrived around six. I had a rental car and absolutely no idea how to get to the place to drop it off. The signage is poor at best after a few misfires, I finally found it and then begins my morning exercise. It is far from the rental cars to the terminal so the walk is quite formidable. They do have moving sidewalks which helps, but it just seems like an inefficient system for an airport of this size. The efficiency of the airport is excellent. One of the best TSA I've ever dealt with. Quick efficient and friendly. I use CLEAR plus and it literally took seconds to get through. But with an early flight, it would be nice to have some breakfast and the choices are dismal. There's a Dunkin' Donuts with a line that pretty much includes everybody waiting for a flight. There are two restaurants which are empty and there's no doubt in my mind that that is because of high prices unlimited food choices. Two eggs $24, chicken and waffles. $24. They're stuck on that steep number for not much of a breakfast. Would love some breakfast choices. We will see when the construction is over. All in all the efficiency of the airport, both at arrival and departure is excellent. That is why despite the problems while construction is going on and the long haul to get the rental car and return it it is still a four star experience. With a couple of tweaks, it could be five stars.

Security was done in a matter of seconds despite being "randomly" selected to go through the milimeter wave scanner. Options were plentiful for food post security, including snack, water, coffee, along with dine-in restaurants. Seating was plentiful at the gate with complimentary wifi along with tables that were perfect for reading or working

The #8 Vineyard Transit bus picks up across the street and from there you can go anywhere on the island. Lot of neat planes flying around, and biplane rides are available in season if you didn't bring your own. Word to pilots who haven't been here before: since there is no official taxiway diagram, print out a copy of the google maps image for taxi assistance. There are three runways and a bunch of taxiways, and with the tall grass it is not hard to get lost once you're on the ground. When arriving or departing VFR, give MVY tower a call and they'll authorize transit through their Class D airspace. Also, avgas is easy and reasonably priced, considering they're on an island.

I had the great hill ribeye at $26. It was good. I asked for medium but it was well done. Still good. Small portion tho and was very fatty despite being pretty burnt on ends. The cool thing is you get soup or salad with an entree and two sides. That makes the 26 bucks worth it. Kale soup was AMAZING. The bread served was those crappy rolls and they were cold. But once in my soup tasted great ;) The other guest with me had the Cobb salad. The chicken portion was small and it had a lots of salad on a little plate. Given they are new all the little things that I thought they improved on seem to be part just opening. Hopeful with time they become five stars! Once outside, the car rental bus signage was also very good and the busses ran very frequently. After my visit was over and I returned to the airport, the opportunity to use the Touchless TSA screening worked perfectly. They are not using those modern bag scanners that slow the line down so everything moved so quickly. I saw some "cool" food vending machines that had hot meals from White Castle, California Pizza Kitchen, and The Cheesecake Factory. The main parts of the airport were very clean and they have moving walkways that will take you to the terminal area where the individual gates are. The staff at the gate spoke clearly and boarding started right on time. I had no delays and would happily return to this airport again. FYI: There is a nice kiddie play area right next to gate A18 if you are flying Delta.
