We headed out to the canal which was calm and cruised up to Sandwich. The ride took about an hour and was enjoyable. We were able to relax on the deck and talk. In Sandwich we had a very nice lunch at the Pilot House. After lunch we walked out past the Coast Guard station to stop at the visitors center. The visitors center had an interesting movie on the making of the canal. After the short film we walked out to view the ocean. We then strolled back to the dock where Captain Trent and his mate Corey were waiting to take us back. The return trip was just as pleasant. We were able to watch all of the people fishing on the shore and biking in the trail. A great day was had by all.

We return year over year to have Wendy and her team store our boat for the winter and perform all our maintenance. Each season, they give the boat a thorough look over and provide us an outstanding report of the condition and anything to be on the lookout for. We have them sand and bottom paint regularly and each season they have our boat looking pristine, on our trailer and ready to go. Anytime we have a question, Wendy and her team are prompt in getting back to us, no matter how rookie of a question it is, many times the same day. This current year we were debating about switching bottom paint. Wendy was super helpful and responsive to my emails about different types of paint and costs associated with making a switch as well as pros/cons of each. Full disclosure, we did purchase our Cap Cod DaySailer from them a few years back, and I can say they made the whole boat purchase, building and customization process amazing. We routinely received photos of our boat as it was built and even got to visit a few times to see her at different stages of completion, pick out our own tiller, and even spoke to the folks in the shop about a custom wood inlay on our tiller, which had never been done before, but these wonderful craftsmen/women made it happen! Additionally, Wendy helped set us up with an array of spare parts to have on hand for our DaySailer. They were fully stocked and we purchased a spare parts bag from them that had all the crucial things that we'd be likely to break and could easily replace. In addition, they have all the parts for the boat, since they are the class builder, and are routinely featured in the DaySailer magazine. Check them out if you're in the market or need help, what a huge help they have been! Keep in mind, we have a new DaySailer, which differs from models of years past, for those needing help with older boats. Either way, if you need help, I know these folks will do their best to help you out themselves as best they can or, at the very least, point you to the right folks in the boating industry that can assist you with your specific model of boat, DaySailer or not.
