What a stunning campground! Sites are clean and large, also surrounded by trees. The bathrooms were immaculate. There is a great trail to the beach, and the sunsets are stunning. Camp host and volunteer are very nice! I'd love to stay here again!

Was able to stay a night at this gorgeous campground. Nice gem in southern OR coast. Usually don't venture this far south as we're usually visiting Portland and northern OR coast. Beach was amazing and not a soul on it as we had it to ourselves. Also was able to get last minute cabin which up north is usually booked months ahead.

The lookout point at sunset, 2 minute walk from campsite.

I had a great time here!! The volunteers were so friendly and helpful! It was super clean and very well maintained. Showers were HOT (which is always nice after a few days of traveling). It is absolutely beautiful, right along the coast. There is a beach trail and a lighthouse to explore.

Nice quiet little park. Bring your own firewood, they run out at times.

This is probably one of the best places to camp along the Oregon Coast. It can get a bit noisy…read moresince the campground is right next to Highway 101, but the bubbling brook, the mountains which surround the park, and the trails and streams which lead you directly to a small closed off beach, all make this place worthwhile. It's just close enough to Port Orford that you can drive over in under 10 minutes to get breakfast or dinner and yet you can feel like you're a thousand miles away from anything on the beach which has hardly anyone there except the odd seal whose head will pop out of the waves. The layout, with the mountains, the valley, the brook and the beach, it reminds me strongly of another one of my favourite places on Earth, Olympos, Turkey, only Olympos is strewn with ancient Greek and Roman ruins among lemon and pomegranate orchards and tree houses. That's not to say that Humbug Mountain doesn't also have a special energy of it's own. At 1700 feet it's one of the highest points along the Oregon Coast and the mountain itself is well worth a hike. The trails are kept very well and the hike runs about 2.5 miles to the top. And what a hike it is! You'll enter a beautiful, lush temperate rainforest, mossy trees, ferns everywhere, giant Pacific pines as you make your way to the top. Apparently Native Americans once used the mountain as site for vision quests but many people have forgotten the fact. The view at the top is somewhat blocked now since the trees have grown but it's a reminder that it's not the destination that counts, it's the journey there.

Stayed here one night recently but only a brief stop, so this only pertains to the campground. The…read moreonly section open was the smaller (low numbered) loop. This loop is quite tight with little to no privacy (depending on the site). The larger (closed) loop definitely looked much more appealing...but we were grateful that at least they were open. The dump station and restrooms were open, restrooms clean. Although I much prefer more spacious and private sites, the grounds were well-maintained. Nice trees and a lovely creek, but unfortunately the highway is very close and we could hear traffic the whole night.

I wanted to be close to town to enjoy the fabulous seafood in Port Orford. The campground is 2 miles up Elk River Road from 101. There are also plenty of sites that are more remote, as the campground consists of 350 acres. The bathroom and common kitchen are attended to regularly and are very clean. Highly recommended!

Warning: If you have a big coach you will receive scratches, both on your sides and roof top, this…read moreis because of the very over grown tree branches. We have stayed in over 450 RV Parks while traveling full-time in a 42-foot coach. This was our first visit here staying three nights (site 38). (1) Dust, some parks are so dusty that even after just a couple nights your unit needs a bath, the dust on our coach was above average, this was because the sites are placed amongst beautiful pines trees. The roads are dirt, sand, and loose gravel, which did not help either. (2) Level pads, big coaches need paved or thick gravel pads that are level. We give this park 5-stars for the level pad, but only 3-stars because the pad consisted of loose gravel & dirt. This park has space very generous space between sites with trees and bushes between sites. Sites come equipped with a picnic table. Note: we did observe several sites that were not as level as ours. (3) We live in the age of WIFI technology and there is nothing to stop any RV Park across this country from investing in doing WIFI properly. For some users such as ourselves, WIFI is an important feature. This park receives 0-stars for their WIFI. The park did have wifi, but due to the many trees, you would need to be staying in a site near an antenna to receive a signal. Unfortunately, the site we were in, did not receive wifi. (4) Maneuverability, some parks have very narrow roads which make backing up and turning difficult, we found this park to be limited in the maneuverability department. The roads themselves were plenty wide, but the overhead tree limbs were an issue. We were staying in a pull-thru site but due to the tree limbs, we had to back-out and completely back the coach down the lane to avoid hitting the low limbs. The park staff are aware of the situation so hopefully they trim-up the lower limbs. (5) Satellite, as you know satellite reception is impossible to receive when there are large trees present. Forgot receiving satellite here, so many beautiful trees! (6) Phone Service, we have AT&T which did not work here. (7) Dog play and potty, plenty of space to walk your dog, but no designated poop/walk areas. Bring your own poop bags as none are provided. (8) This park is older, has only 30-amp sites and tall coaches need to beware of the low tree limbs. Despite that, the park is quaint and quiet and situated among beautiful trees. If quiet and solitude are what you are looking for, then this park would be perfect.

When the lady in Ray's Food Place suggested my companion and I check out a BLM campground - I…read moreadmit, as a Northern Californian - I had my doubts: images of dusty, dry, rattlesnakey territory without toilets, tables and no fires allowed instantly filled my brain. However, we did not want to sleep under the fog so we headed north to Sixes and turned east. After following a curving riverside road - we found ourselves at the camp host's site and the sign in board. The camp host popped out of the window of her RV to greet us and give us an orientation, pointing us to a spot where we could camp. This was the most POSH BLM campground I have ever seen: neatly manicured green grass bisected by a flat gravel driveway, concrete picnic tables and fire pits on each site, well behaved Douglas firs sprinkled around. The site was $8 for the night and $5 for as much wood as we wanted to load in their wheelbarrow and haul back for the night. Most folks in the campground seemed to turn in early - including the couple camped near us with a cat and a dog in their tent (woof! mew!). Even the most drunk guy there seemed to go down at sunset. We slept in the open with a view of the Milky Way traveling across the sky - and I got to see two shooting stars. There was NO fog, no noisy traffic - just the sounds of the creek nearby and some birds who thought 3:30am was the right time to start greeting the dawn. No showers, either but that's what a creek or river serves when you camp like this (unless you leave at 6am like we did!).
