All of the employees were lovely, both in Boston and Martha's Vineyard, which is a nice change from the usual attitude I get from airline staff. The plane is itty bitty (10 seats, including the pilot's) and you have to climb in. They load all your carry-on baggage into the front and wings of the plane. Each piece is weighed, and they ask for your weight as well. They will seat you so the plane is balanced, so you might not be sitting next to the person you're traveling with (although you'll never be much more than an arm's length from anyone on the plane...). Planes are not my favorite. This little one is a bumpy ride and you're surrounded by windows. There's no ignoring that you can see out the front window and see the runway rapidly approaching! If you get motion sick, take something. read more

I flew from Boston to Nantucket return last weekend with Cape Air and it was a fantastic experience. I did a terrible job planning my flights and ended up in Boston several hours earlier than my Cape Air flight - not a problem! They put me on the next flight out... and what's more it seemed as if all the employees I dealt with actually enjoyed their job! I found the pilots particularly funny... Now, I must admit I was a bit nervous when I was asked how much I weighed (I assume they do this to calculate the amount of fuel needed) and even more so when I saw how tiny the aircraft was (see picture). It was quite windy out and the aircraft did bounce around quite a bit. However, the views of Boston and then Nantucket were absolutely stunning. The actual plane is tiny and flies fairly low (compared to larger planes) so you will get spectacular views. Definitely a very cool experience. I would recommend Cape Air to anyone, especially to those visiting Nantucket. read more

There is no other flight you will take that will be as fun or as beautiful. Some would not dream of taking a seven passenger Cessna from Providence to Martha's Vineyard. Boy what fun! It was 25 minutes long, and quite possibly one of the most memorable flights I have taken. The pilot seated himself once we on board and said, "Sorry, the plane is too small to provide any food, but I have some tic tacs, you can pass around if you want." The view from the Cessna is amazing -- Newport, New Bedford, the Elizabeth islands, and that gem of the Atlantic - The Vineyard - awaits you. Do it at least once; it's so worth it. read more

Aside from the bumpy landing in the 8-passenger plane, I give them two huge thumb's up! After all, they are polite, reasonably priced, and easy to deal with....how many airlines can you say THAT about?!! The extra nice part is that they do flights in conjunction with JetBlue that make it less expensive by HUNDREDS of dollars to fly from California to Martha's Vineyard, saving me several hours on a bus and an hour on a ferry....nice! read more

Really nice people involved with Cape Air make traveling a treat. I've flown in all kinds of weather over the years, including thick fog one night that made us all feel very claustrophobic and scared. You could not see one thing out the window, even as we approached Boston. Watching the pilot was very reassuring. He just chewed his gum and nonchalantly looked around as if he could see everything. It's obviously a stunning way to see the coast line when the sun is shining. You fly over gorgeous parts of New England to get to Martha's Vineyard. Fun to spot your house and other significant land marks. I have bad knees and sometimes get wedged into a seat that presents a bit of a physical challenge but all of the flights are short, so I just deal with it. Once my bag was lost by another airline on a connecting flight from Burlington, VT. As Cape Air was my final airline, it turned out to be their responsibility even though they were not at fault. They tracked down my bag, which somehow made a little side trip over to Europe, and delivered it to my front door four days later. Nice job, Cape Air. read more

We flew Cape Air from Boston to Martha's Vineyard. It was daunting and exciting to fly in such a small plane. It also turned out to be a fun and surprisingly smooth ride. The plane looks like a chihuahua among Great Danes. The flight crew is efficient and courteous from terminal to terminal. I was giddy like a little kid. I even filmed to takeoff. I know we'll be back on Cape Air. read more

We used to fly cape air regularly. However, more often we experience rude (or just over worked) employees and unreliable schedules. Never, dose a flight actually depart on time, and 9 out 10 times we are seeing a schedule change less than 30 days out. We unfortunately have been left empty handed more times than we can count as a last minute schedule change typically means our reschedule flight is now departing before our connecting flight even arrives. In the end we are just tIred of this airline and how it is run. It's unreliable and causes more stress and cost than it's actually worth. Riding the Peter Pan bus or the Plymouth and Brockton bus is significantly more comfortable, 100% more reliable, and often, just as fast (when you include layover and/or check in time) and is only $30/person vs $300-$500/person. Do yourself a favor and stay away from cape air and ride the bus and enjoy the ferry! read more

Very disappointed in this airline's customer service personnel in Nantucket, who border on incompetent in explaining a unintelligible policy for not advising about the airlines overbooking policy Confirmed on a 2:30pm flight to Boston yesterday, but when I arrived at the terminal was told I was in "Zone 2"meaning' only the first 8 people get on the 2:30pm flight and everyone else is bumped to the next flight. Take the high speed ferry to Hyannis next time and save money and headaches. read more

Ticket agents on Marthas Vineyard are very nice and helpful, they get 5 starts!! the phone agents are nothing but useless... It has really gone down hill. It's a big drama every time you need to make changes, much easier to go in person to the airport if you are on Marthas Vineyard. read more

Completely not worth it unless you can't handle being on a boat. You'll be liable to waste more time and money than taking the ferry + the bus (or even a cab) last time, I flew with these guys it was only a few hours delay. yesterday our flight departure time from Vineyard came and went. The screen kept saying on time even after the departure time had passed. I even called their toll free number and they told me the flight had already left?! Eventually, the airport staff finally made an announcement that all flights to Boston were delayed 3 hours. 20 minutes later she said all flights were cancelled. Ended up having to take the ferry and pay $183.01 for an Uber to Boston Logan. If Cape had been at all aware of the weather, they could have cancelled the flight hours before departure. We could have saved hours and just got on the ferry and taken a $37.50 bus. Never even received an email or anything from Cape saying my flight was re-scheduled or we're sorry blah blah etc. read more

I love these guys. Small operation on a small island where everybody and their mother wants to come. The amount of work that these guys do to get their planes airborne is incredible. Worst Airline !! Avoid at all costs! Extremely poor customer service and communications as well as no concern for customer. I have been " bumped" off flights numerous times at the last minute while waiting to board and was not allowed on. Flights delayed and cancelled. Cape Air is awful in every way. Lets' see: forgot to bring airline over for flight; so, missed all connections; incorrectly checked luggage using wrong baggage claim system; so , lost luggage; claimed passenger was lying about having luggage and even being on the flt to begin with; then found that passenger was actually "forgotten" so no plane was available and another flt had to be taken; found passenger was indeed on flt; found that gate agent had indeed mis-coded luggage and LOST it; but no offer to help find luggage or re-book for missed connections; no offer of compensation for losses for missed flt or lost luggage...what part of this is "quickly or easily"..or, honest and helpful...or professional....luggage still lost. (thank you USAIR for stepping up and re-booking missed connections that were Cape Air's fault). ...still missing luggage. read more

Probably one of the worst airlines I have ever flown and the worst I have ever been treated as a customer. Spent 3 hours trying to contact them late last night about my flight cancelation. They canceled my flight then booked me on a very early one and then when I showed up they sent me through security with a fake boarding pass. they told me they had no reservation even though I was holding a valid boarding pass. The man at the counter was clearly busy but had no time to consider my problem and refused to work with me to fix the ticket. I think I will take the ferry/bus in the future read more

One star is being kind. Cancelled flight, again, from Boston to Rockland. Another expensive night in a Boston hotel and out to find another way home the next morning (bus). Cold hearted, uncompassionate staff. This expense was all on me. I am just thankful it was not from Rockland to Boston. I would have been out far more money if I missed my connecting flight. Most airlines do not refund you tickets under these circumstances. This is very stressful as I require wheel chair assistance. Very stressful and expensive under any circumstance. Give serious thought before using this airline. I will not use again nor will I ever recomend it! I had a airport shuttle driver tell me that he had been an employee since the 70's and that cape air is always cancelling flights and the passengers are often left to find other ways to their destination. read more

Cape air is one of the most unprofessional organizations I have ever dealt with. I'm a platinum flier on a number of airlines and made the mistake of choosing Cape air for the last flight of the day to get from Viequez PR back to San Juan PR - big mistake for a 20 min trip. There was a little weather earlier in the evening in San Juan, but because the pilot lived in Viequez, and was an hour behind his route, he canceled the last round of flights back and forth to the island. These were the only flights canceled by Cape Air into San Juan that day on any of their routes. Because of this (on the Saturday of Thanksgiving), everyone on the plane had to buy new tickets on their connecting airlines; and book new flights from San Juan back to the states on the busiest travel day of the year (Sunday of Thxgivng)... I'm not sure how much it cost the other folks on the plane, but between Airfare for 3 and another hotel room it was over $1200 in costs for me... not to mention having to try to find an open hotel and being stranded at a closed airport (since he didn't cancel till there were no other options) in basically a 3rd world location - in combination with having a 'not so happy' wife and 3rd grader. Further when confronted with the evidence (being a heavy flier, I know how to look at flight logs into and out of airports) - that no other flights into or out of San Juan - including another 3 flights on their own airline that night were canceled, they refused any reimbursement and again claimed the cancellation was due to weather - rather than the actual pilot error. read more
