This is because, until he retired in 2008, Yorkshireman Harry Slater was the owner and chief-cook and bottle washer! However, now that he has retired the coffee shop has gone to new ownership but not very far because it has been bought by one of Harry's former Chefs - so you can be sure the high standards which Harry set are being carried on. Inside is clean and very attractively laid out, small but perfectly formed. You can order up an all-day breakfast any time from 9am onwards, or pop in for lunch or early evening meal where a really good choice of menu is available. Baking and delicious sweet puddings are also available along with the usual hot drinks and cold soft drinks. The coffee shop tends to close for a few weeks over the winter but if you have a special occasions you'd like catered then they are more than happy to let you book the room for private functions - at a very reasonable cost. There is no licence but you can bring your own wine and beer for a private function. You will find the Pier Coffee House aka Harry's Coffee Shop down in Kyleakin Village just past Cameron's shop. In my 5 or 6 days in Glenelg, I stopped there for coffee and/or cake nearly every day. It's a small place, but well worth a visit. They also sell locally made crafts in a yurt next door, as well as any excess vegetable from the onsite patch Kate grows for herself. If you're interested in biking around the area, there's also a bike rental down the road, but you'll have to go through the coffee shop to get details. Its a lovely neighbourhood hub, staffed by two people who clearly love the area and are happy to give advice on what else to see or do nearby.
