Dya know whats great about this shop?…read more well ill tell you what the shop is first i suppose, its a place that does printing and one of he things they print are those really nice canvas prints that are just like big canvas squares with your favourite picture on them. They turn out really well here for a reasonable price and the guys working here are really helpful and know their stuff too. Anyway on to the cool thing, well i think its cool and maybe a bit nerdy on my behalf! they have a ginormous printer and you get to see it all working! so cool!

Q gets a patient smile and told that the studios are currently celebrating their 25th anniversary in business. Boy do I feel silly. The walls are adorned with the studios work, mostly portraits from what I can see and jolly nice ones - I suspect they could even make my own family look like well adjusted members of society. How much of a perfectionist is the guy I met? He asked that they be allowed submit their own photo of the premises instead of me taking my usual quick snap... because they are photographers and it should look right. How the heck did he know about my singular talent for including random cars and sometimes busses in my review pics? I guess I just don't look like a pro!

I have mixed feelings about Gallery 23. I went there with a groupon voucher for 100 euros with of…read moreframing for 30euro. I haven't been to a framers in a little while but I expected to get two pictures done for this - with maybe paying a little extra. In the end I added 38 euro to the voucher to get one regular sized and one small picture framed, so I'm not sure if the value of what I got really reflected the voucher - although I'm not sure how much this just reflects me forgetting how much framing actually costs. Essentially I paid 68 euro which is what I would expect to pay for the regular sized picture, so looking at it that way I got the small one for free. The other negative thing I would say is that speed is not something to expect. I wasn't in a hurry - having meant to have this framing done for about two years - but I was told not to expect it done soon, and that they would call. I never did get a call and one day several months later I remembered that I had left pictures in to be framed! yes, there is a pair of us in this scenario! When I called they were ready and waiting for me. On the other hand I have to say the framing job was really excellent. They're really good at picking out frames that bring out the beauty in the pictures, and I was really pleased with the pictures when I got them back. It's probably the best framing job I've had done. So I would say if you don't mind paying a little bit more and waiting for the right thing, then this could be the place for you.

He's also got some great stories about the art world if you get chatting. There's crayons and paper to keep kids occupied while their parents choose frames, and you can see the framing materials and work being done, so it's pretty interesting and authentic. Baggot Framing strikes me as a really friendly, well run business.
