I have been seeing Dr. Cantrell and her compassionate staff for over 15 years. I moved to Portland in 2013, and I still drive down to see her for all of my dental needs. Because of my commute, they have been flexible so I am able to still continue services. I will not be seeing any other dentist except Dr. Cantrell until I'm forced too! The front desk staff is always incredibly welcoming. Linda is so sweet whenever I call and has been amazing at managing my appointments for all these years. I'm always quickly checked in with hardly any wait time. The hygienists are gentle when cleaning, give honest treatment plans, and I always leave with a bountiful dental doggy bag. I have little to compare because I have been loyal to Dr. Cantrell for over a decade and will not be changing dentists anytime soon. read more

The wife & I have been going to this office since Dr Egger (Cantrell's father) was there in 1981. No complaints from either of us. They do not take all insurance plans but that doesn't make them a bad place. Maybe some of these people who are so offended & crying need to find a "safe place" to go instead of going to the dentist? I am appalled that Yelp is currently showing 2 extremely negative reviews of Dr. Cantrell's hygienists and has "not recommended" 2 extremely positive reviews of her and her office. (I read ALL the reviews, even the ones they don't recommend.) My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Cantrell for about 9 years. After we moved to Portland in 2012, we have continued to drive 120 miles to Eugene to keep her as our dentist. That's what a great dentist she is. We enjoy but don't particularly care about the pleasant, kind receptionist or the friendly, amusing hygienists. What we value is the level of competency of the dentist herself. I have had old fillings replaced, new ones done, old crowns replaced, and new ones put on. I've had some cosmetic work done as well and it looks fantastic, especially after years of having a previous dentist mess it up year after year. We also no longer have dental insurance and have to pay out of pocket, but it's worth it to us to know that our teeth are properly cared for. Dr. Cantrell has continued to see us even when we went through a bad patch when we literally could not pay her. So the combination of her excellent skill level as a dentist accompanied by an extremely pleasant staff is one we continue to value. read more

Dr. Cantrell was very very nice and her receptionist and assistant were accommodating, but I had a horrible experience with my "hygienist" who didn't clean my teeth, but probed my teeth until I couldn't open my mouth without feeling intense pain. She complained that I had a narrow pallet, when every other hygienist/dentist I've had has never had a problem with it. She was sighing and grunting the whole time, I felt very judged and uncomfortable. She very obviously didn't know how to use the equipment in the room very well. She was shaking the whole time and continuously blamed the products she was using for inaccuracy when it seemed to me like she was just unsure of herself using them. The x-rays were an extremely painful experience, that she did not comfort me threw as I silently cried from the pain, the awkward mouth piece making me breath threw my nose cause a mixture of tears, snot, blood and saliva all down my face and on my x-ray vest as she continued to fuss with the machine. Mid-way through she dropped my mouth piece on the floor, picked it up and gave it a rinse. I was a little taken aback. This piece is made of plastic; I would have hoped she would have just gotten a new one AND changed her glove she picked up my old one with...gross. After all was said and done, she proceeded to clean the machine first, then my vest, then left the room. I would have really appreciated a napkin or tissue to take care of my face and neck. In fact I would have thought that it was first priority instead of the equipment. I don't wish to see her again. Overall not a good experience. read more

My partner and I both see Dr. Cantrell, and have since 2007. Their receptionist Linda, is amazing. Michelle is my hygienist. My partner has seen both Barb and Michelle. We appreciate the work of everyone at this office. My partner has strong teeth and never a problem. I have sensitive teeth and almost always have some weird sensations or pain during the year. Dr. Cantrell and Michelle suggest products and give me trials, and each time the product has improved my situation. I can't stand the hygienist flossing for me (after a cleaning) and she always let's me do it with a smile. The whole office is caring and competent in our experience. read more

Dr. Cantrell must have learned her professional gentleness from her father, who was my dentist for thirty years. I have always had complete and competent cleaning and exams. They gently encouraged me to increase my flossing practices. This was followed by uplifting compliments on my daily care during following exams. When issues of cracked fillings would come up, they were happy to discuss options ranging from raplacing the filling to doing a crown and the benifits of both. I have been happy with the care I receive at Dr. Cantrell's practice and would recommend them to anyone. read more

I have been going to Dr. Cantrell for at least 12 years now; my twins have never known another dentist. It doesn't matter which hygienist we get, they are all friendly, extremely competent, and very much put my children and I at ease. When we've had emergencies, she's been very accommodating at getting them in, and has spent much more time than was necessary to ensure that broken teeth are better than new and that the kids are happy and content. Can't imagine anything like what Justine described. It's a small office and feels like family. We've switched insurance and I'm paying out of pocket to see her. read more

my daughter and i have seen dr cantrell probably for the past 30 yrs (me 30 her about 20). we started seeing her dad who had the practice till his passing when she took it on. her dad was so understanding he let me pay off my daughter's $1,400.00 cost of braces over a year and a half. dr cantrell is wonderful too. they are like an extended family to us. my grandsons are even patients of hers and have been for most of their lives. they are 20 and 15 at the moment. i went through cancer treatment a few yrs back which caused us to go into major debt. dr cantrell understands that and allows us to pay what we can when we can. which most months is nothing. and when i can it is only 25.00-50.00..keep in mind our bill is over a 1,000.00 and has been for years.. no other dr i know of would do that. and never adds interest, fees or penalties. our balance is pure principle and we have had a high balance for at least 3 yrs. i am indebted to her. she still sees us for cleanings, fillings whatever we need while i try when i can to make a payment. Linda the receptionist (who just retired..Boo will miss you Linda) was so awesome. like a ray of sunshine. Lesile is always great and when i was going through treatment she was so understanding and kind. Michele the hygienist is a hoot and laughs at my jokes till her sides ache i am told. She does a great job at cleaning my husband's and my teeth. she will clean them then blast them and floss. i literally have no complaints about anyone or anything concerning this dental office or the people there...so this family has a combined total of 89 yrs with this dentist. and have no complaints. listen to those who have seen her more then once or twice to know. perhaps it was a bad day for the dentist or the patient. but 1 time is not enough to judge. oh btw i have called dr cantrell at home, late at night a few times and she is never upset about that. again she is kind and understanding,. and 1 time she even told us to meet her at the office and we did. was there from probably 9 till 11pm dealing with my dental issue..again what dr would do that ever? read more

I first went to Dr. Cantrell's office 5 years ago. At the time I was in my late thirties with no cavities. I was initially very happy to find her because her office staff was so kind. However, that quickly changed. They told me my teeth were so good I only needed cleanings once a year and when I did go in, I was shocked at how quickly and how poorly they cleaned my teeth. The hygentist, while very nice, never even bothered to floss or clean my back teeth, did not find receding gum lines, and to make matters worse, they all laughed at me when I asked about why I bite my cheeks so often when I chew. I finally gave up on them and started seeing another dentist in town. By that time I had 4 cavities, nearly needed a route canal and had never received a complete set of xrays in over 3 years ! I am truly appalled by how terrible this dental office is. Don't let the nice secretary fool you, this is a very, very bad dental practice- the worst I have ever experienced in my life. I recommend that you stay away. There are other very good dentists in town. No need to put your teeth and health in jeopardy. read more
