During the…read morepandemic, they converted from a restaurant to strictly takeout which has served them very well. Recently, I have tried several dishes for the first time. Keep in mind, we've been going here for many years. It's never too late to try new things. Let's see how the recent visits turned out. As usual, we placed our orders online with no problems at all. For my most recent selections, I picked two combination plates (Mongolian Beef and Beef Szechuan Style). The staff already knew which orders I picked up when I entered inside. It's really cool when folks already know you given the many times you stop in. Definitely a great feeling when you get friendly vibes. As far as both orders go, they were good. They do overload a bit with veggies, but I can't really complain. Both were spicy but nothing that was overpowering. And they had enough fried rice in both plates. The egg rolls could be a little better but nonetheless I was satisfied with what I chose. Asian Grill will continue to be a go-to for online pickups. Till next time :)

Certainly, our General Tso's Chicken and House Special Egg Foo Young were. They were both pretty good, but need a kick in the pants to make the mange more compelling. The Secret Sauce to achieving that is to request, "Hot Oil." That is a red Szechuan Chile Sauce that adds burn to any dish. Mixed with our chicken and egg pancakes picked up the heat just enough to allow both sweet and heat to play well on the tongue. It made both dishes delectable. Service was fine, although our server seemed to be covering the whole house. Felt empathy for her, but she held up well and never lost her pluckiness. Nice to have white linen and heavy utensils on the table, although we asked for and received chopsticks for our edification. BTW, Port Arthur is a part of the city of Dalian in northeast China. It was heavily damaged in the Sino-Japanese War of 1937-1945. Four Cantonese Stars for one of the better chop houses in Hampton Roads.

So much so that he plans to return. Upon entering it was quiet, and clean. The restroom was also very clean. The food was really good and the bases were tasty. If hot pot is not your thing, that's ok there is hibachi and other items. There seems to be something for everyone. I opted for hibachi and it did not disappoint. The food portion was small but rightfully so because there is more to go through on the menu. So I appreciate the smaller portion. One thing I which there was more of or available is dessert options. Service was amazing. Our waiter was so attentive. We used the iPad system to order more and we never had issues with the items. They always came out fresh and or piping hot. Pricing was very comparable to other hot pot locations. Great hot pot spot!

The place wasn't busy yet. They have table and chairs and booths. The decor was typical of that of an Asian restaurant. The area and bathrooms were clean. It is a bit smaller than most hot pot places. The menu was extensive. I was impressed with so many options. We did not know that the table grills were not open yet or we would have modified our ordering with less food. The broth was very flavorful. The cold bar had many different sauces and some fruit. You have to get your own utensils which is fine, but it can get crowded with more than one person up at the bar. It is all you can eat so we wanted to try a little bit of everything. This proved to be a mistake because the portions were so big. We felt bad for ordering so much but 1 portion was the size of a dinner size. The sirloin and potatoes were my favorite. My boyfriend loved all of the seafood. I got the crab legs. Do NOT recommend. You could tell they were previously frozen and the meat was very sticky and stringy. We did end up paying to take home some meat we didn't cook. It was definitely worth the price, we pan fried it at home and it was delicious. We would definitely go back. Both of us would order less and maybe try the hibachi and hopefully the table grill will be open. I believe he said the end of November. Lesson learned, always ask about portion sizes! Overall, you most certainly get what you pay for, plus more.
