We visited Cantaritos La Tequilera in El Arenal after a full day of tequila tastings. Our guide recommended this spot because it's less crowded than some of the more touristy restaurants that serve similar drinks and food. The place had a relaxed vibe, and since we came on an off day, the service was incredibly fast. The restaurant itself was very clean, and the location was stunning--situated right behind an agave field, offering a beautiful view.
The Drinks - Cantaritos
If you've never had a Cantarito, it's a must-try. This traditional Mexican cocktail is served in a clay cup and typically made with tequila, grapefruit juice, lime, orange, a splash of soda, and salt on the rim. It's refreshing, citrusy, and the perfect drink to enjoy in tequila country.
The Food - Tacos We Tried
We also ordered a couple of tacos, and both were packed with flavor:
* Taco Gobernador - A griddled adobo tortilla filled with shrimp machaca and melted cheese. The combination of the smoky adobo flavor with the shrimp and cheese was fantastic.
* Chili Taco - Shrimp machaca and cheese wrapped in crispy bacon, served with Mexican salsa and chipotle dressing. This taco had a great balance of textures and flavors, with the bacon adding a nice crunch and smoky richness.
Overall, Cantaritos La Tequilera was a great recommendation. The drinks were excellent, the food was flavorful, and the setting was beautiful. If you're looking for a more laid-back spot to enjoy a good Cantarito and some delicious tacos, this is definitely worth a stop when in El Arenal! read more
