A deeply painful and hurtful experience -- please care about yourself and read before booking. I've waited a few months to write this review because the experience was genuinely traumatic, both physically and emotionally. And to be honest, I hesitated to write this review, especially after seeing how the salon responded to other negative reviews. I was already traumatized by how rude I was treated in this salon and did not want to go through that again. But I'm writing this in the hope that no one else has to go through what I did.I went in for a hair color service on January 18, 2025, that involved bleaching, and what followed was the worst experiences I've ever had at a salon. The process took over six hours, and during that time I repeatedly told the stylist, Michaela, that my scalp was burning and was on pain. She kept saying it was normal and didn't take it seriously. When I got home, I noticed my roots were still wet. My husband looked at my scalp and was shocked -- it was red, inflamed, and covered in hives, many of which had likely popped up during the stylist's rough blow-drying and brushing at the end of the process. The next day, my forehead visibly swelled -- like an egg had formed under the skin. I rushed to quick care, where they diagnosed severe chemical burns on my scalp. I was put on a week of antibiotics and warned to monitor for signs of infection or fever ( Dr's after visit notes are shared in photos). It was truly frightening. I returned to the salon a few days later -- not to argue or cause a scene -- just to share what had happened and ask for a partial refund out of fairness. I wasn't demanding a full refund because I understood she had used product and time. But instead of any compassion or concern, I was met with yelling, legal threat, and complete hostility, even though I remained calm, friendly, and respectful the entire time. I felt cornered and completely dismissed, as though my pain and health didn't matter. The level of rudeness and aggression I was met with was so overwhelming that it left me emotionally exhausted. I did eventually receive a partial refund, but the way I was treated made it feel like I had to fight for something I never should have had to. To make things worse, the color I ended up with wasn't what I asked for -- it was brassy, yellowish-red, and my hair was left dry and damaged. Based on what Michaela explained before the service, the roots were supposed to be 6A (dark ash blonde) and the ends 9A (light ash blonde), but the result was far from that, as you can see in the photo I've shared. I'm sharing this not out of anger, but in the hope that no one else has to experience what I did. If you ever experience burning or pain during a hair service, speak up and don't let it be dismissed. If you choose a salon, make sure they prioritize your safety and well-being. No one should leave a salon experience physically injured, emotionally broken, and then be blamed for speaking up. [It has been about a year or so, and I wasn't going to write a review, but too many people around me continue to have bad experiences at Canopy in Moscow, so I finally figured I would share mine.] I walked into the shop to book an appointment for hair trim and color. I wanted to show the stylist my hair, as well as pictures of what I wanted to do. I wanted to go from light brown/dirty blonde to a white-blonde with darker roots. We talked about the process, made a plan, and booked an appointment. Leaving the hair salon after my "consultation" I was feeling good about my upcoming appointment. Fast-forward to the day of the appointment. I walked in, sat down, and the stylist started working. Most of the time my back was to the mirror and everything was going fine until I was turned around to face the mirror.....my hair was nothing like we had discussed - definitely NOT white-blonde - and my roots looked like they had not been touched. Instead, my hair was a mess of brassy orange and yellow, and it was SOOOO dry and damaged! My heart sank. I tried explaining that this was not what we had discussed in the consultation and showed a picture again. The stylist scoffed and told me that it would take many appointments over many months to reach that color which surprised me, because this had not come up during any of our talks, and my hair was originally light brown/dirty blonde, not black. Despite my efforts to have my hair fixed, the stylist insisted I had received what I planned/booked for, and I was charged over $600 for the appointment. I went home feeling defeated, ugly and upset. The next two days I refused to leave the house without a hat, so my husband started reaching out to find stylists who could actually handle a white-blonde hair job. Long story short, WE FOUND ONE! (She's amazing!) My first appointment with my new stylist to fix what was done at Canopy was quite emotional. She took photos of my hair so I could see the issues, and when she lifted hair up in the back there were large sections that hadn't even been dyed, and my roots were VERY uneven! My hair was various shades of yellow, orange, and brown. I showed her the same picture I had previously shown at Canopy, and she assured me it wasn't a problem. Three hours later my hair was a beautiful WHITE-blonde and incredibly soft!! (Please note - it did NOT take many appointments over many months to have the color I wanted....) My main advice? Don't be like me. Do your research before visiting Canopy! I cannot stress this enough. It ended up costing me an ADDITIONAL $800 to fix the damage and color disaster caused at Canopy. I will never go back, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. read more

She said this is protocol and since you didn't do that I will not be cutting your hair. I did let her know that I would be writing a review on how unfriendly and unprofessional she acted. At a color removal consultation, Michaela suggested a "one and done" method. She would remove the brunette coloring from my hair then put in a temporary color of a mid-tone blonde to help me transition to my natural salt and pepper hair color (more salt than pepper). I agreed as I did'nt want to make my color transition a long drawn out process. Boy do I regret that decision. I was in the chair for 6 hours. My scalp was red and sore and my hair is now dry, brittle, and damaged. I've had to use high intensity protein conditioner on my hair but I've had a lot of breakage anyway. I set up another appointment with Michaela a couple of months later for a hair cut thinking she would like to see the damage that was done. When I arrived I explained that I wanted a hair cut to help fix the broken ends. She denied she had me in the chair for 6 hours last time until she looked me up in her system. Then she refused to give me a haircut! She said I was defensive or something which i was not at all. I had simply explained that I needed a haircut (which I was going to pay for). I understand she had the right to refuse anyone, but I thought she would like to see the result of her "one and done" process. If anyone wants to transition from colored hair to your natural, my friend is doing it the best way- her hairdresser touches up her hair each month but leaves a little strip of hair without new color. She began leaving it her natural color at the nape of her hair and is slowly leaving more and more without color each month. It looks very natural without the "grow out" line in your hair. read more

I've never left a bad review, and I truly have the upmost respect for people in the service industry, but my experience here was awful and I just hope if you're coming from out of town you go somewhere else. I think they have consistent and loyal patronage from locals and don't feel the need to make anyone's visit pleasant. The owner Michaela was just outright mean. She was upset that I didn't book enough time, but I had called a week ahead to say what I wanted (which was just a shampoo, blow dry and style-- beachy waves to be exact, nothing fancy) and the receptionist booked me in. The worst part was when I was sitting at the shampoo bowl and she went into the back and started talking with her employee and said some really mean things about me. I almost cried and then she came back to ask why I wasn't having a good time...I ended up leaving the salon after an hour with wet, frizzy hair. Do not go to Canopy! I had an appointment with the owner Michaela for a cut and color and left the salon distressed and defeated. At my color consultation I showed Michaela pictures of what I wanted and even pointed to an Aveda swatch. I wanted a light strawberry blonde but I left the salon with bright red hair. Think of "poison ivy" bright red hair. It is no where near what I asked for and I am utterly shocked that someone who has been in this industry for so long could screw up this bad. Additionally, I said I didn't want my face framing pieces to be cut as I have been trying to grow them out for quite some time, yet she trimmed them anyway. Some of the conversation that took place while I was in the chair was completely unprofessional. She bad mouthed customers, other businesses, the list goes on. I left the salon a mess and called back later to say I was unhappy with my results. Her response was unprofessional and she turned it around on me saying "this is what you wanted". My boyfriend went to Michael saying he was growing his hair out but it was shaggy and needing a style. It was about 4 in on top, 3 in on the sides. Michael apparently gave him "the best haircut of his life" and my bf was delighted. Then Michael noticed he had a side cowlick. He asked to use the clippers to trim the sides a bit....and cut most of his hair off down to the scalp sides and back! He was stunned, and embarrassed to show me his unwanted fade when he got home. Let's say the final cut didn't flatter him. He had a rough time getting and losing a great cut in a matter of minutes. He wasn't sure where the communication went wrong. Have a consultation with him and he will Treat you to a full relaxation hand massage while you blissfully breathe in one of an assortment of Aveda's fragrances "Chakra oils". I left with a great color,cut and hand massage and although it is expensive the experience is worth every penny! P.S. My husband loved the result and wants me to always have my hair colored and styled at Canopy Salon in Michael's very talented hands! I have been going to Michael for a long time now, but he gave me the best haircut of my life on Friday. I decided I wanted to cut my hair off. I've had long hair most of my life but with starting college and breaking up with my boyfriend of three years I went through a rough time. Months later, I felt on top of the world but it felt like my hair was still carrying memories. I called Michael to make the appointment and was greeted so warmly and told him my idea. He got me absolutely pumped for my cut. I went in, and he was totally empowering. We chopped it off and he gave me a cut that fits my heart shaped face and large forehead perfectly, really playing up the good features of my face. I LOVE every time Michael has done my hair but this was the bomb. Michael has also colored my hair many times. It always looks great for months and he helps me pick out the perfect colors. Also, since it's organic dye, it smells great, like eucalyptus and flowers. Went to get a hair cut and highlights. I asked for shoulder length and light blonde hair. Left with chin length and dark brown hair. I was so shocked and dissatisfied. I called to speak to the manager the next day. They told me the manager was on vacation for a week. I called back the next week and was told a manager would follow up with me. After three weeks of no call, I called back and the manager was "on vacation" again. I wasted $200 and WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN! read more

I went to a lady who just recently started there.I don't know her name because she didn't introduce herself to me. The whole time she was cutting my hair she was bashing other salons I was thinking how unprofessional she was by doing that. After the products she put in my hair made it greasy and I'm 33 years old I know what makes my hair greasy and she continued to put it in anyways! Went to check out and my haircut was $50!! Horrible! I have been an avid Aveda customer for more than 10 years and this is the first time I have had an unsatisfactory experience at any salon. I recently moved to the Inland Northwest and located Canopy Aveda Salon on the Aveda website. There is an Aveda Salon in nearby Pullman, WA but I chose Canopy because I enjoy downtown Moscow. Michael is the co-owner of the business and he is the person who colored and cut my hair. I took the time to write this review because not only was this a $300 experience where I am not happy with the results, but additionally Michael was quite temperamental and downright unpleasant at times which is ultimately why I will not return to Canopy Salon. I first came to the salon for a color consult and Michael and I discussed exactly what was the best plan for my highlights, etc. (He also asked me why I keep my hair at this particular length and then strongly attempted to convince me to get a short haircut.) I brought along with me the Aveda recipe which my previous stylist had used with success over the past 4 years and I showed it to Michael. I made it clear that "a natural-looking blonde" was still what I wanted and he proceeded to tell me improvements he would make to this recipe. So then I made my appointment for the color at a later date. So then at this second appointment with Michael, he began by roughly combing out my shoulder-length wavy hair with a fine-toothed comb and I said "Ouch!". He then curtly asked me if I am a "tender head" and proclaimed that he does his work because it's "fun" and if the experience "stops being fun" for him he "has turned people away before". I thought perhaps it would be best for me to stand up and leave the salon at that moment but I unfortunately I chose to trust him and remain in his chair. Instead, I asked if he would use a brush on my hair and he managed to use that tool without hurting my head further. I do appreciate the meticulous work Michael did in applying the color and I am well aware of the time and detail this process requires (as the price tag reflects). However, the result is not at all what I wanted. Now instead of a blonde needing a touch up to my highlights and low lights, I look like a brunette attempting to have a few blonde highlights. Certainly disappointing. Brown hair. Not blonde. I have been blonde my entire life. I look in the mirror and I just don't look like myself... My husband agrees, as does my mother. After my hair was washed and blow dried I was surprised as he then began to cut my hair (when I made my appointment I specifically stated that I wanted color only). I should have stopped him before he went to work any further with his scissors but again I was trustful. I informed him that I had given a great deal of thought to his short haircut recommendation but that I really love my shoulder-length hair because it feels feminine and pretty. And unfortunately now, my hair is quite shorter and extremely thinned out. In time it will eventually grow back and thicken out of course but it will be a long wait. If Michael's personality was at all agreeable I would feel free to let him know how I feel about my experience at his salon. I actually have a lengthy career background in customer service and I believe in constructive criticism. But I am not an argumentative person and I, quite simply, don't need the drama. Especially when I am able to find much more pleasant and qualified hair stylists in the area. I should also mention that during the conversation that Michael and I had during my lengthy time in his chair, he also berated his demure colleague Will concerning trivial matters that could have been discussed privately at a later time. I felt badly for Will as he, in contrast to Michael, was remarkably pleasant and showed very good customer service to me. read more

I have to admit, I struggled whether or not to write a review, but having the experience I had I feel that I must. I have been to Aveda salons all over the country and when I saw that Moscow had an Aveda salon I was thrilled to make an appointment while visiting family, unfortunately this salon is not up to par with any of the other Aveda salons I have visited. Overall, my experience at the beginning was great. I was able to do a color consult before my cut and color appointment and felt that me and the stylist were on the same page, but I have to admit, signing a "liability waiver" before my service put me on edge as to what I was to expect. I requested a partial highlight and basic trim; I also requested a FEW low-lights for contrast as I dislike the solid "blonde" color that can occur. I also requested an ashy toner as I highly dislike warm colors. I even gave the Stylist the color code from my previous Stylist in Rhode Island (AN AVEDA SALON!) and made it very clear that I wanted an Ashy tone. I use Aveda products (Blue Malva) and my hair had maintained somewhat of an Ashy tone from my last service. I HAVE NEVER LEFT AN APPOINTMENT WITH DARKER HAIR THAN WHEN I CAME IN WHEN GETTING HIGHLIGHTS. The stylist put in so many low-lights, and on top to boot, that my hair is brown on top with highlights underneath ?? In addition, the toner was on my hair for all of 15 seconds and then washed out....I have bronze highlights and dark hair. I might have noticed this at the salon, but when I sat back in my chair after the rinse a woman walked in for her appointment and my stylist said she be with her in 10 minutes, she just needed to trim my hair. I got a 3 min trim ($35 service) and I was sent home with half wet, frizzy hair on a cold winter day. I have NEVER spent $160 on a service and was not given a style at the end. I came home and had to dry my hair, only then to notice how dark it was...and how disappointed I was in addition. After reviewing the website, I did notice that a basic service cut does not specifically mention a style at the end, however, if you're going to do a color on a client, it may be necessary to DRY their hair completely to confirm they are happy with their service and how the color came out....but seriously, a client spends $160 in your salon and you're not going to style their hair at the end because she got a "basic trim?" I just didn't want to change my hair style, is that a punishment?? I don't know if this is a time management issue? Or a skill issue? My stylist was answering the phone and making appointments as I was sitting in my chair getting my hair done..did this eat into my 2 hour appointment which is why my trim was fast and no style was given? Perhaps this may have even led to the mistake of putting low-lights on top and highlights on the bottom? Did she then have to rush my toner and the rest of the appointment? These are the questions I am asking myself as I cannot see any other reason for such a bad experience, if this is truly an Aveda salon. I would suggest to get a full-time receptionist so the stylists can focus on what they're doing with the clients, I can only hope it's a management issue and can be addressed quickly. In the meantime, I would recommend going ANYWHERE else in Moscow, I will never go back again, not even for the 3 day service allowed to "fix" whatever issues you're not happy with. read more

Beautiful salon and fantastic haircut! I'm new to town and figured an Aveda salon would be a good place to start my search for a new stylist. I was originally scheduled for an appointment with someone who ended up having to call out, but Michael was able to work me into his schedule. Michael was an absolute delight to talk to and knew exactly what to do... I finished with much needed volume and bounce in my hair. Canopy isn't inexpensive, but the price was consistent with the quality of the cut. I'm so pleased that finding my new go-to stylist was so easy! read more

This high end hair salon & Aveda boutique is extravagantly beautiful unlike the people's attitude inside. If it were to be raining and those employees were to take a step outside they would simply drown. If you would like to feel like a no good criminal I would recommend taking a step inside and touching the samples. Which is unfortunate because, instead of smelling the beautiful products you get to endure the shitty smell of there no good prissy attitude. And to put a cherry top the selfish owner parks his oh so precious Mercedes's and the other employees high end car right outside the door and there is no handicap parking insight. read more

I am new to the area and was recommended to come here for a haircut. My hair is fairly short and I asked for a trim. He charged me for the precision cut which is fine, but did not listen to what I wanted. I showed him pictures, told him I like to curl my hair on a normal basis and halfway through the service, he tells me that this cut will not look good curled. He styled my hair so terribly and my hair took much longer than normal to grow out because he cut a super short layer in my hair that threw off the entire silhouette of my hair style. Note: from my google review Update: I LOVE my hair - finally. It only cost me one box of color-oops to get the gold down and then I purchased professional hair dye (not the box) and dyed it red. So many compliments on it! Sadly, a couple people commented that it looked so much better than my hair I just had done at the salon but they didn't want to tell me that it looked like another person ruined my hair. Also, forgot to note, Michael used a brush on my wet hair and was not gentle. It hurts, and will break your hair. Update: Two weeks later and my hair really doesn't look that good. In a lot of lighting it's too yellow and gold yet in his shop it looked okay. I spoke with a couple other stylists who stated that it should have never taken that long to do my hair. That a good stylist should understand that there could be surprises and know how to handle it - aka brown hair dye (which I didn't know about) should not have been such a game changer. I am so bummed to have spent that much money on such a poor, and stressful, experience. Now, I will be spending even more to find somebody to correct what Michael could not handle. On Wednesday, May 14th, I went to Canopy Salon in Moscow, ID for highlights. Unbeknownst to me, my old stylist had put brown hair dye into my blonde hair. Michael did what he could to give me a beautiful color and cut (and it is beautiful). I gave him a 20% tip as well as purchased products from him in the hopes that they too would be outstanding. On Friday, May 16th, I washed my hair with the Aqua Boost shampoo and conditioner. To my dismay my hair felt dry, damaged, and was severely tangled despite following the directions on the back of the bottle. On May 17, 2014, at 10 am I went into the salon requesting a refund for these products. The stylist there at the time stated that she could only do a refund to my account. Thinking that meant my debit card, I said okay. She then clarified that it means my Organic Salon account. Seeing as the return policy was not clearly stated on the receipts I said that it should be there, or on the counter, and again requested a refund. She said that Michael, the owner, would be in later and I could talk to him then. My tone of voice was matter of fact, as that is my personality, but I understood that she could not call all of the shots. Around 3pm I returned to the salon to find Michael. My dad came in with me because we were out together running errands (it's hot to wait in a car!). I explained to Michael what it did to my hair. He stated that he sells the best products, that nobody has complained yet, and that if something went wrong it was because I wasn't using them correctly. Michael continued to berate me stating that I was rude to his stylist (I was not), asking my why I was rude, telling me that I was using his product wrong, and basically that there was something wrong with me. He angered both my father and I by being so backhandingly rude to us. He told me obviously I brought my father in for a reason. Implying because I expected a confrontation. As I said earlier, we were running errands together. It turns out that the refund policy is stated on the website, but to myself it wasn't clear. When I read "account" I stopped, thinking that meant the account (aka card) it was bought with. There was no reason for Michael to berate me, put me down, and challenge me to confrontation. His words and tone were baiting and the dominant eye contact was pushing for me to back down. When neither of us did back down Michael told us to never set foot in his salon again. I know for sure that I am now the second person he has said this to. Believe me Michael, I will NEVER set foot in your salon again. To talk to a disabled person (oh yes, I have a verifiable cognitive disability that I don't go waiving a flag around with) like that, mentally abuse her, and traumatize her in that manner is not right. I cried when I got home the night of my color appointment because I felt so bad that it took you so long. I have feelings too and with a little bit of respect (instead of telling me that I don't know how to use shampoo and conditioner!) this could have turned out much differently read more

I'm so disappointed. I thought I had found my favorite salon who did an amazing job with my hair. However I was unaware of their unspoken "no children" policy. I brought my 11 year old in for a cut because he has NEVER had a cut I was happy with. Michael yelled at my 2-year old whom I also had in tow - who also was behaving very well. I walked out a few minutes later and I did cancel my future appointments. I wish there was a way to rectify the situation as I was looking forward to many services in the future. I went in to canopy for a basic trim. My hair is fairly long and I had not had a haircut for about 6 months before this. The salon is beautifully decorated and clean, with great organic products. My stylist, Michael, was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, but the cut I received was not what I expected, and not worth the $38 price. Michael cut some "long layers," however the shortest one is much shorter than it should be, and does not blend in to the rest of my hair. It does not look good. Bad customer service. Short staffed. Not up to Aveda standards. I'd been admiring this salon online for almost a year. The Aveda name made me think quality and I loved their professional looking website. I saved up and decided that I would be willing to pay $200 for the best salon experience ever. I called to make an appointment for a cut and color. The receptionist said there had been a cancellation for a spot 10 days later. This salon requires a "color consult" appointment before any color service. The receptionist worked with me, and none of the other available time openings worked with my schedule, so she said she would make my consult appointment WITH my cut and color appointment. I was thrilled! When I got to the salon 10 days later, the receptionist made sure I knew that I wasn't supposed to combine the appointments, and she will never do it for me again. I was asked to go sit behind a wall while I waited for Michael. Once I sat in his chair and had my color consultation, I realized that he hadn't mentioned anything about a haircut. So, I asked to reconfirm that this was a cut and color, and he said no, I was only scheduled for 2 hours which is only enough time to put one basic color all over my hair. I asked him if he could fit me in for a haircut in the next week before I study abroad, and he said no, he's booked out for 2 solid weeks. Disappointed, but desperate to get my hair done, I agreed to get the color regardless. As we are walking to the shampoo bowl, he says that I shouldn't have expected to get an appointment calling days before and that I didn't understand my confirmation call. (The confirmation call and the text both were confirming the time and date of my appointment, nothing referred to services booked.) I told him that it wasn't just a couple of days ago that I called, and that I ALWAYS get my hair cut with a color service. That's when the receptionist came over and started arguing with me. As I was lying in the shampoo bowl, both Michael and the receptionist were standing over me, arguing with me. Instantly defensive, as if I had done something wrong. Angry faces hovered over me. Claustrophobia set in and I couldn't have felt more attacked. I told them I wasn't trying to cause trouble, and that I just want to try to enjoy this color service. Michael laid a washcloth over my eyes, and I cried. I sat through the next two hours holding back tears. Michael explained that the receptionist is new, and all his staff had recently walked out. He was doing hair alone in there and had just been hospitalized for stress. As my color processed, he called someone and yelled at them about the air conditioning. I felt awkward in the room full of empty chairs. A customer came in to try to make an appointment for the next week and he scoffed at her, saying he was booked for 2 weeks and she shouldn't expect to get in with that short of notice. She left without making an appointment. Michael washed out my color and surprised me by telling me he WILL cut my hair now. Thanks? Luckily, the cut and color turned out nicely and I'm happy with my hair. However, the experience overall was NOT what I was expecting and was DEFINITELY NOT worth my $200. Michael said that he was infamous around Idaho for his "ghetto" attitude. I couldn't agree more. Ghetto Aveda is not what I signed up for. I noticed later that his Facebook reviews are many years old and new reviews seem to be disabled. Yelp has reviews from this year, 2 out of 3 are bad. Aveda Corporate would be appalled. Good products ,but really bad services (hair cut and front desk) just Awful. I had a poor experience there. Usually, Aveda has the best stylists ever , but I do not know what going on with this salon. I mean is it certified as an Aveda Salon or not? From the service I got, and through my long experience with Aveda all over this country, I would tell that the Salone does not belong to Aveda at all. What I realized is that I can get better service in a barber shop with cheaper price then going to this show off Salon. Nonetheless, the man in the Canopy Aveda Salon will not listen or follow you ,if you request something. He will always go with what his brain tells him, then what you actually want to be done. I requested scissors for my hire cut, he used clipper all over my head. He will not be sorry at all to you of mistakes. He will always Justify for himself as if he is the right person, and you are being unfair to him. He will never admit mistakes. Prissy and disrespectful attitude. I love my new hair! I had gone over a year without a haircut and my long hair was weighing me down with its dead and damaged ends. Michael did BEAUTIFUL layering and it feels so light and happy. I got enormously positive feedback from family and friends! The salon is just gorgeous inside and it is clear that the focus is on helping and taking care of the customer to look and feel their greatest. Michael was a pleasure to talk to and even gave me lots of encouragement and advice when I talked about things going on in my life. I was only visiting Moscow briefly, but I'd probably drive back just to get my hair done at Canopy. Also it's super convenient to be able to book online they even have their own app. :) read more

So I had posted a good review, but I'm going to retract that based on the 'customer service' for simply asking for a bangs trim - being told availability and then having that retracted for some reason. No harsh words were used, I've always tipped and never complained no reason given other than 'booked for the next 6 weeks' except I looked at the online booking afterwards to see if I could at least get a full service cut to see 1. definite availability within 2 weeks and 2. my account deleted. Not sure exactly why, I've always had a very positive experience and I wasn't rude, curt or in anyway unpleasant either in person or over the phone. read more

Shop owner was very rude and cancelled my appointment for no reason. Then he walked out of his own shop. Very strange.

Expect to wait at least 20-30 minutes for your service, and another 2-3 hours for cut and color. Along with a double booking. In the end, expect a $250 bill, plus products. There are no price tags on the Aveda merchandise nor is there ever a receipt that summarizes the bill. Just sign your VISA receipt and be happy!! My experience at this salon was very positive. They made me a great cup of coffee as I waited in the lounge area for my appointment. Place is immaculately clean. Great attention to detail and actually feel like the person cutting my hair really cared. I admit I am balding and go for a simple 3/8" cut on the sides; most places have me in and out in 10 minutes. Often have "frizzies" on the sides from thinning shears. My cut here was about 40 minutes and no frizzies. This is an honest review as I just had my hair cut earlier today from the time of this posting. Online appointment system is handy. Was a bit confused as 3 standard haircut options originally indicated, but when scheduling online, had a huge drop down list to choose from and took a while to find the standard $18 cut. Otherwise, best haircut for me in the Moscow area as far a standard guy's haircut. Will go again. read more

My husband went in with instructions from me to tell the stylist that he needed a trim and to be cleaned up around the neck. He has great hair; it was medium length (below the ears) mostly all one length, with long layers. Since moving to the Palouse he has yet to have a decent hair cut. This was the worse one yet, the gentleman cut at least 6" from some parts and he walked out with a MULLET! I know it is Idaho, but a Mullet, come on. Unfortunately he was too uncomfortable (he hates getting hair cuts) to say anything and the dude just went to town. read more

Absolute rip off and worst hair service I have ever experienced. The owner is very rude and was arguing with his staff during the entire service. I went in for a partial highlight and my hair turned out very streaky and splotchy and on top of that my hair turned out orange-pink toned when I had asked for an ash blonde. Two years prior to this I had gone in to a salon I trust and got a partial highlight and ash blonde... which turned out great. So I knew what a good job actually would have been and this absolutely was not. He also charged me much extra at the end because he included "botanical proteins" to my hair when washing which he did not say anything to me or ask me if that's what I wanted and took it upon himself to charge me for it. I had to go to Wack a doos down the street the very next day and the woman completely fixed my roots and made me an ash blonde. Long story short it was not a great experience. read more

I just moved to the area and was looking for an Aveda salon. Heather was able to match my previous hair color exactly to cover my grey roots. Plus, she gave me a great cut. I would recommend this salon to others. read more
