This guy is completely bogus. He is making claims that a painter friend of his said I never pay or some other ridiculous claims. The California state license board has already issued him violations and mandated that he pay back all the damages done to multiple customers. Don't believe me ? Contact his bond and the CSLB. He hired Cano to do our exterior wood trim, fences, stairs, balconies. Per the contract prep included sanding, scraping, priming and 2 coats of paint. The majority of the home received 1 coat of paint only. Two months after the job was complete, paint began peeling off. I text Cano and he blamed the black trim color. I then called multiple paint supply companies and spoke to other licensed painters and they all laughed & said this was purely due to lack of prep. I sent Cano pics and videos. Some portions of the house they didn't even paint and are the old brown color. I text several times asking to meet me each time him putting blame on the paint color. Today I tried one more time before writing a bad review and turning him into the state licensing board, but he had blocked my number. I paid $8000 for my home to need repainting within 2 months. Very disappointed and disgusted that a licensed contractor provides work this way. Buyer beware! UPDATE: The response by Carlos is all lies. I asked him several times to come look at the paint. I informed him 2 months after the job that it was peeling. From November to current I have been asking him to come by and look at these areas which he has refused to do. I have all of this documented & will post. He never informed us that black paint would require repainting every 2 months. These are all excuses. This is a lack of prep work. The few areas that are not peeling are the areas we were home to witness the work. Ironically the areas that are peeling are when we were away from the home at work. If Carlos stands by his work, he would have at the very least come by our home and repainted the peeling areas. Instead, he avoided text messages and calls and then blocked me. I gave him 10 months to make it right. I waited 10 months to give him a chance. Black paint is the trendiest color for trim and homes right now and it's total bs that black paint requires repainting every 2 months. That's just his excuse for cutting corners when the home owners were not there to babysit. Oh, the bushes were grown over? Simply tell us and they could have been trimmed, but you just left it. I have turned him into the state and have hired an attorney to file a claim. Do NOT hire unless you intend to stand there and watch him work to assure he is doing his job. I must clear the record as the facts have been mis characterized here! We negotiated and agree upon the scope of work and the fees which I promptly paid as requested. I did NOT help myself to any of the money as you stated! The additional scope of work was agreed upon by both of us based on additional fees and not free as you stated! And I promptly paid for as requested. I always treated you and the workers with respect - no one ever complained including you about anything. I thanked everyone every day, offered water to the workers, when you guys asked for my feedback throughout the project, I promptly did that so you don't have to wait. When the painter dropped the bucket of paint staining my wall, I did not complain - it is still stained. I even tipped the guy at then end of the project. I bet your crew would come back to work for me without you. All I asked was to address a workmanship issue that showed up a few days after the work. I think that is reasonable. I think any good contractor would stand behind their work. But you completely ignore my multiple requests via text, phone and email without any explanation.
