For accessibility, there are 2 sets of stairs and 2 elevators but the elevators are only supposed to be for wheelchairs and prams. There are toilets on both floors but the one I visited upstairs was terribly claustrophobic. The furniture looks nice and is probably better quality than IKEA (but I don't own any of their furniture so I don't know). Overall, it is a nice place and is a quieter alternative to IKEA.

The Chanlon showroom is filled with lovely, hand-crafted examples of 18th and 19th Century style furniture, which have been made to look distressed and aged as if they have been in grand country homes for years. The influence is mainly English but you can see that Scandinavian and French styles come through in lots of the pieces in-store. Kitchens come in lots of customised styles and collections, including designs for smaller spaces and hand-crafted Oak fittings, ranging from £20,000 upwards. Expensive. Very. Chanlon also sell furniture for the bedroom, bathroom and study areas of your house, such as the beautiful four poster bed, at almost £6,250. This would be the ultimate in luxury! The pieces are beautiful but this beauty comes at a price, and a hefty one at that. I can dream though!

I think it might actually LITERALLY have everything!…read more It is basically a huge warehouse full of everything and broken up into sections; Christmas, storage, crafts, bedding, kitchen, sofas, etc. It is fairly cheap and cheerful so I would go there expecting to find something that will last you for years but if you're moving house or need a few bits and bobs then this is definitely somewhere you should consider for your first port of call. They even sell fake stuffed reindeer heads and cuddle chairs!

This is a really big showroom which I think carries most of their range…read more I'd already picked out a sofa I liked online and just wanted to see it in person, put it through the sit test and also see the different colour options as computer screens can be notoriously inaccurate. The entrance to their carpark was really hard to find in the dark and being on the side of a slip road means you can't safely walk to it from Fort Kinnaird, or at least there was no path I could see in the dark. Luckily the sofa I like was quite near the door and I spotted it almost straight away. A salesperson came over and chatted to my friends and I and answered all my questions & told me about finance options etc etc. He was quite pushy about trying to get me to put an order through on the spot which annoyed me. I told him I hadn't actually taken any measurements and therefore wouldn't be ordering anything yet! They offer a site survey service where their delivery guys will come over and make sure everything will fit thru doors and up the stairs etc free of charge which I found quite reassuring. I've had interesting moving adventures and who could forgot that episode of Friends?!? (Pivot! Pivot!! ) All in all, it went okay. Will update further if I actually order a new couch from them!

It is a wide array of items, but is undoubtedly of a classier nature. Selling old televisions from the 60s, unusual crockery and second hand furniture, Leith Salerooms is littered in special old items. They have a great selection of grandfather clocks and although a lot of their stock doesn't come cheap, that's due to the fact that it's kept in relatively good condition. Some of the antique furniture is certainly worthy of a showroom or an auction, and the vast majority of the items in here are beguiling and unusual. Although it has a somewhat shambled appearance, the staff are friendly and well versed, and the stock is more high end than the stuff you'd find in markets or at the back of lorries. Definitely not what you'd call bargain basement, Leith Salerooms cuts a line between second hand and antique dealer.

This place is absolutely fantastic and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it one day when The Man dragged…read moremy hungover bum out the door and for a walk to discover our new neighborhood. We are doing up our house at the moment and, having moved from a flat, are in desperate need for furniture. We'd chosen to visit this part of town to check out the antique stores and happened upon Vintage and Reclaimed. The owner explained that the furniture is all new, but his standard stock is made from reclaimed timbers which gives it a fantastic look. He also stocks furniture made by someone down south (I think??) which has a more finished look to it and is also gorgeous. The best part about this place is that they are willing to make what you want to size. This means that if you fall in love with a piece of furniture they have on the shop floor and devastatingly discover that it won't fit in your house, not a problem! They will make one of the size and colour which you like. On top of this, the prices are SO reasonable. Seriously. The Man and I are looking for a massive wardrobe and the one we found here was a good £700+ cheaper than any other one we liked. After we left here we visited the aforementioned antique stores but just kept saying "it's not as good as Vintage and Reclaimed" so we gave up and decided that once the building work is done, we will scrape together our pennies and spend them all here.
