It's right across the street from the library, which is also another great family-friendly place to frequent. If you're a mom looking to find places where you can let your kids play and get out of the house, this is your spot. There is a little library stand where people can pick a book and give another in return. I love these because it really adds to the sense of community and help share the love for learning/reading. The first play set is more for the younger kids, up to 5 yrs old. The second play set is more for the 5-12yr olds, but as long as you're watching your baby in the bigger kid area, you'll be fine. One thing I like is the seesaw because kids work together to accomplish the seesaw effect. It's a hit! Another great feature is the super long slide! Kids love this as well. They're currently doing construction at the park, adding another neat structure and should be done soon. A few hundred feet away are two bucket swings. I like that the flooring is the recycled rubber unlike the main play area with tan bark. I wish the parks in town didn't have tan bark. It gets everywhere, mushrooms grow in it, and you get splinters. During the summer, you'll see the splash pad turned on for kids to enjoy. It's a great way to have fun outside cooling down from hot summer heat. A lot of kids walk on top of those big blocks and it makes me nervous, so I recommend this for older kids. If you have younger kids, I recommend the Korean Memorial Park splash pad.

I finally found it!!…read more I have spent the last two years asking myself why there aren't any covered playgrounds in Portland, and where I am supposed to take my energetic little kid to play on rainy days. West Lake Park is the answer. The playground is covered, with equipment for both toddlers and big kids. There is a bathroom about thirty feet from the play structure, hallelujah! The picnic area is also amazing. There are 4 covered tables with a buffet counter lining a wall, and along this counter there are 3 outlets, meaning you can set up your crock pot, and plug it in. There is additional table or two near the covered 4, if you're looking to get a large group together and it isn't raining. There is also a huge, well kept, athletic field joined with the play ground, that is open for running on. There are water fountains too. This is the best laid out park I've ever been to. If you're looking to host a party, this is where you should do it!

Definitely coming back!…read more The park is split into two areas for tots and older kids - There are two baby swings, a double slide, 4 ways to climb to the slide, a tunnel and a steering wheel for the tots. There is a bigger slide 4 ways to climb to it including a climbing bridge instead of a waking bridge, monkey bars, and a sliding raid and one platform swing. The park is covered in bark for the playgrounds but surrounded by grass, shaded by trees and well maintained. There is poison oak in the trees at the edge of the grass area so I wouldn't wonder beyond the grass unless on a path. There are restrooms across the parking area from the park and plenty of parking - for a Wednesday anyway. Just a sliver of a bigger recreation area and a fantastic pit stop for littles. Not too far from I-5 if needed and well hidden so not a ton of traffic around. Although close to roads (so watch littles close) it is fenced on the street side and open on the parking side. There are waking trails, 4 picnic tables, open grass area, 3 benches available and a dual level fountain.

It has nice open spaces to run around, a kids playground, a basketball court and even tennis courts. Plus there is a little lake with bull frogs and blue herons. This is a great space for a kids birthday party and being that I've celebrated three here now, it is the go to spot. If you live in this community then I'm sure this is the park that you bring your kiddos to. We even saw yoga moms with strollers doing a class. Enjoy.

We stopped…read morein as a pit stop driving down to Salem one day, and this park was a nice little reprieve from the sometimes-stressful traffic of I-5. There isn't much; there's a playground, a historic marker plaque, restrooms (that were oddly clean), plenty of parking and a former boat-launch that is now a very small beach. The park was very clean, quiet and kept up impeccably. Perhaps a good spot to have a picnic or dip your feet in the water, or use the restroom.

It's...okay…read more They have a little play area for 2-5-year-olds, which seemed perfectly nice, and another play area for 5-12-year-olds, nicer. No infant swings, though. I had to use the restroom while I was there. First, at a park that has a play-set for 2-year-olds (never mind kids who have siblings), there's no baby changing table. And second, there's no soap dispenser. Not just no soap, no way to supply it. There's an air dryer (no towels)...in other words, nothing to keep stocked. But no soap in the restroom? Ew. Otherwise it was fine, seemed well-maintained, etc. But uninspired. If you live close by it's likely worth it, but I wouldn't bother to drive there. The views of the river aren't as good as at lower Memorial Park, and the playground isn't as good as the upper part of Memorial Park.

Theoretically, there is also a free boat dock, but at the time of writing, a very large tree is fallen across it. Restrooms and garbage are maintained by Oregon State Parks. When I visited, it was pretty clean. The trail along the river is very pretty, although I was only able to access about a mile of it before it got too flooded to hike through. I noticed lots of poisonous plants including poison oak, snowberries, and hemlock. But also tons of moss, lichens, and ferns. In addition to the picnic tables in the picnic areas, there were also several solitary tables set out along the river. This is great for a more solitary picnic, taking a break during a long bike ride, or getting some privacy for drawing or Journaling. Overall just about as good as it gets for free.

One trail follows close to the river, and that was nice, with a mix of open sun and shaded forest. The trails were mostly flat dirt or gravel, no strenuous inclines. There's a large off-leash dog exercise area. Dogs are supposed to be on a leash in the rest of the park, but sadly most owners were just letting their dogs run the trails off-leash. They have picnic tables & a good, clean restroom facility as well.

(Plenty of street parking around as well) The park has a large green space, play area, sand volleyball court, benches, covered tables, beautiful trees and flowering shrubs. It isn't huge, but it is well-maintained and a peaceful spot for some leisure time.
