Given his stellar 5-star reviews we felt comfortable hiring F1. His quote was reasonable and though he wasn't available to come immediately, only a few days later. We originally agreed for him to visit on Friday but somehow he or his bro made a mistake and visited on Thursday, when no one was home at that time he came. He did come back on Friday at our scheduled time and fix the issue with the electric power snake. I wasn't present when he did it but someone else was in my place. He also didn't send a follow up text to tell me it's fixed, diagnoses, photos or how to prevent it. But at the same time, he's also patient and didn't ask me to pay until I prompted him several hours later asking about the status of the job. I suppose he's a busy man! Communication could be better, just keep in mind you may have to prompt him again to get your receipt later. What's important is that it's fixed and working properly.

He also advised that the kitchen sink was incorrectly installed by the former condo owner. He did a great job replacing it and removing as much of the incorrect caulk/glue as he could. We had to get rid of the old toilet ourselves but I think that's built into the cost since I was quoted at least $40 more by other plumbers who offered that service. Since we were getting a plumber in, we decided to lump in snaking on 3 other drain lines since it was cheaper to get everything done all at once. We had contacted ten different plumbers (I might've been excessive) for a quote to do the work, including in it details of exactly what we needed to get done and pictures of the corroding pipe. We got a large variety of responses, some refused to provide quotes at all citing different reasons such as "only on-site no obligation quotes" (this doesn't fly with us during COVID-19, thanks) or leaving the material cost variable without any suggestion on price (red flag, even though I specified which piping needed to be replaced and provided pictures). We also had a lot of difficulty getting quotes from many of these other plumbers despite providing clear pictures of the problem piping and describing what needed to be replaced. In contrast, Stanley provided an exact quote in advance using the photos and information we had sent him, which is the exact amount we paid (we're always wary of upcharging). His pricing was very competitive amongst the five plumbers we received quotes back from. He services condos, which we found not all plumbers are willing to do. He adeptly completed the work we needed, cutting and replacing the old piping with new piping and snaking all the drain lines. He has a pretty cool entirely contactless payment method, where he can generate and send invoices from his phone and you can pay through an online portal with your credit card and save a PDF copy of the invoice. We would use his services again, though we hope not to.

Warning: Do not hire this firm. Four years ago, the owner of this firm installed a gas stove in my…read morehome. He charged me over $1,100. This week, another technician who repaired the stove pointed out that a plate was not covering the electrical wiring behind the stove's kick plate. So, for four years, my family and I were using a GAS stove with exposed wiring just behind the kick plate. The owner came by today with a "colleague" to "investigate." His colleague admitted that a plate should cover the exposed wiring. Rather than admit this grievous oversight, the owner offered up this absurd explanation: Someone else removed the plate in the four years since the original installation. No one removed the plate. No one. Why would anyone do that? He also claims that he installed a shut off valve. I have asked the TSSA to launch an investigation. Save yourself the risk and trouble my family has unknowingly endured for four years. I urge you to choose another contractor. The owner will no doubt respond to this warning with denials and accusations. You can believe him if you want to but, if you do, you will regret it.
