It was 7 years ago when I required a lawyer. I had never needed one before so I had no clue how to go about anything. I was pregnant and the father of my first child served me papers. I found Damon online and decided to do a consultation. The consultation ran a little long and he charged extra, that should have been my first clue. He said everything should go fast and gave an estimate. My mom helped me by using her tax return to pay him at that moment. Come to find out a few months after dealing with him that he did pro bono work and didn't offer it to us! He was drooling greed. When he gave me a stack of papers he didn't warn me that a court date was coming up, he expected me to find it in this novel. So I missed the court date. He would charge me for calls made to him by my ex, who had served me papers. So when it was time for my mediation he wasn't even there since his wife was in labor, he should have rescheduled it! I had to deal with his partners at the time who would all take turns saying the same thing in a different way and then expect me to answer very quickly. I had just delivered my baby, who was in the room with me, so I was distracted, scared, overwhelmed and going through post partum. And they were representing me! So why did they keep telling me to give my ex everything he was asking for?? They kept saying "oh, he would get it anyway if this goes to court" so I took their advice and the mediation was wrapped up. After having to deal with all they wrote in our parenting plan, I've learned a few things. They don't care if you are their client, Damon was more on the side of the "father" I'm guessing because he was about to be one, so he screwed me over. The parenting plan has had so many things wrong with it that I have had to work out these last 7 years. One of the other things was that they told me to agree with my ex on reducing how much money he would owe me monthly. (which was going through a separate thing, the child support office) It was supposed to only last for 2 years, but they didn't write that in the plan, so because I agreed I have not been allowed to ask for more money, the child support office says they can't increase the amount, even though he was paying more before and now he makes almost double what he used to and has had 3 houses since then. Damon did not help me, he chose to help my ex instead and stuck me with a bill for 8,000! If you are a guy, go for it, but ladies, he does not care for your interests! read more
