First time at any Candlewood Suites and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised and thoroughly impressed with the room. The suite was spacious, clean, stocked with necessary trinkets for travelers and comfortable. Upon check-in, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Tomia. She was sooooo nice, gave excellent customer service and really showed genuine respect for her customers. I honestly think the service, room experience and comfortability was not worth the value. I mean, I know it's the South but c'mon, this was a steal. A place like this up North would be astronomical. As far as price, I used my loyalty points (15,000) + a little cash but the room without points was only like $100. I had to start using my points before I lose them. I will say upon leaving, the Grinch replaced Santa. The morning chick was very rude and not hospitable AT ALL. I didn't like that she refused to speak even after I spoke and furthermore, she never thanked me for lodging there. However, I didn't let that affect my decision to leave a good review because I really didn't have to interact with her. She only saw my backside as I was leaving, so there's that. Overall, I'd definitely recommend them if you're in the downtown Mobile area. Oh! One very important thing, it costs $10 for parking and the parking lot fills up quickly. read more

We have stayed at this location multiple times. The good is that the hotel allows pets (we did not have ours during our latest visit) and the location and parking was convenient to the many shops, restaurants, and sights in the downtown area. Plus, the rooms are large. We were disappointed to find the next morning that our tub was FILTHY. We reported it to the front desk, but ended up cleaning it ourselves when no offer was made to send any housecleaning staff to the room despite there being several milling around the front desk. read more

I have some mixed feelings about my stay at Candlewood Suites in Mobile, Alabama. While the lady who checked us in was warm and welcoming, she didn't seem to know all the ins and outs of the hotel. The day after when we checked out, we found out that the adjacent parking lot which supposedly was free wasn't. We were charged $10, which apparently is the price whether you're there for a day or a week. Again, this wouldn't pose a problem except we had no idea until we were charged in the middle of the night for this. Also worthy of noting that they offer complimentary coffee and that's about it. No complimentary breakfast available. We stayed at a suite for one night and it was large. It had a full-size refrigerator, a sink, a dishwasher, a microwave, and even a little area to cook. The room also had a desk and a recliner, along with a TV and comfortable bed. The closet, too, was there with a hair dryer and a laundry bin, as well as the accompanying bathroom that had a bathtub and its toiletries on the wall. You know the pretty standard things for a suite. The hotel overall was standard. It had a pool, but when we got in, it was freezing, so we didn't stay long. I believe they have a gym on-site, but I didn't try it, so no comments. Overall, relatively easy to get around in and out of the hotel. Plenty of restaurants to walk to nearby. I think the area is genius, I just think they need to be more on top of things in regards to their relationship with Expedia. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. Got into Mobile with my son with disabilities to stay at this hotel due to its location close to Mardi Gras events which involved him only to find that they claimed to have canceled my reservation in January due to declined credit card. No record of that happening.. I have no phone call record and no email cancellation. Suspect that they could make more selling the room to a conventioneer and took that opportunity. Ruined our Mardi Gras activities because of the distance we had to stay away from downtown. DO NOT TAKE A Chance that they will ruin your vacation!! read more

I normally don't leave reviews but this hotel will cancel your reservation without any reason or notice and then refuse to help our answer your call. When you try to use IHG to help they will tell you because it is privately owned there is nothing they can do. It's absolute ridiculous and not good business practice. If you are going to book here especially for Mardi Gras check your reservation every day leading up to it. Booked in November and they canceled with reason days before and not just to me but to many others. read more

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The suite was very clean, spacious and just the right thing we needed for our stay in Mobile. The kitchenette is fully functional, with a stove top, microwave, dish washer, sink, and fridge/freezer combo. Same with a set of two fo everything from mugs and cups to silverware and plates. The hotel is also very dog friendly and the pantry down stairs is a great place for a late night snack! Will definitely stay here again! read more

When I arrived at the hotel, I tried to enter thru the lobby door that is opposite of the parking lot. The automatic door wouldn't open, but I could see 2 staff members sitting at the registration desk. I got their attention, and instead of getting up and walking 30' to let me in that door, they waved me to the other door, making me walk all the way around the block to get there. This made me really angry and it probably the WORST customer service I've ever experienced at a hotel. I got checked in and went to my room. As soon as I entered the room, I immediately noticed a dime and a penny laying on the floor near the desk. How do you miss coins laying on the floor when you vacuum?? The toilet had a scum line in it, and there was thick dust on the tv stand. Was this room even cleaned?? I honestly would have ignored the room issues if I hadn't received such poor customer service checking in. I have NEVER felt compelled to write a hotel review until now. This hotel is amazing. I'm not sure if it's just this particular hotel, or this hotel chain (my first time staying at a Candlewood), or this area, or Mobile, or Alabama, or this area of the US, but wow, I am blown away! Wonderful facility. The room is huge, so there's not only room for a work desk where both my husband and I can be on our laptops, but there's even room in front of the TV if I want to let out some dance moves! There are all these little details of this hotel that really impressed me, and several times I said to my husband, "Who does this?" Some perks I love about this hotel: * They have a bookshelf full of DVDs you can borrow for the duration of your stay. It's like your own personal Blockbuster/Netflix. * They have a "Lending Locker" full of fun things like pots, pans, vanity mirrors, wine glasses, coffee makers, blenders, board games, tool sets, adaptor plug sets, Crayola markers, highlighters, and more! * Each room is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, electric stovetop, microwave oven, dishwasher, plenty of plates, paper towels, utensils, oven holders, etc. They even left us a bag of Act II Butter Lover's popcorn (to go with the DVDs you can rent, I guess). * A/C in our room is COLD (which is perfect for my husband). * Free wi-fi. It's not super fast but it works for me. * Comfy beds * Super-friendly employees at the front desk and even the maintenance guy was amazing too. Maybe this is what they call southern hospitality? * They have chocolate chip cookies at the front desk each afternoon too (along with mints), which leads to... * Their fitness room is so nice. In addition to the normal stuff of free weights, medicine balls, treadmill, elliptical, stationery bike, and bench, they also have this weight machine that looks interesting. They stock their fitness room with these fluffy ribbed towels and even give complimentary, disposable headphones (ear buds) to guests! Who does that? I'm not done with the fitness room. They also have bottled water (6-gallon dispenser type) that's chilled or room temperature, and disinfecting wipes ("Gymwipes") for guests to be able to wipe down machines before and after their workout. Who does that?? * There are laundry machines in the fitness room for guests to use. For free (though you bring your own detergent and dryer sheets). While I've never used laundry machines at a hotel before, I've always been under the assumption that it's coin operated. Here, you can do your laundry for free. If I were staying here for a long period, it'd be perfect: Do your laundry and get a quick workout in while you're waiting! * There is a Pokestop in my room!! Probably not a big deal to most people, but for the Poke-Goers out there, this is a godsend. I've even had to upgrade my bag because I'm accumulating so many items during my stay! And apparently we're close to the water because lots of water-Pokemon keep showing up. Oh the simple things in life. :) * Parking is convenient and right next to the entrance of the hotel. The only negatives I have: * The room reeks of air fresheners. This might be an Alabama thing because we noticed our rental car from Hertz smelled of chemical air fresheners too. I just need a room to smell clean and free of any fragrances. * No bathtub in our bathroom. :( Shower only. Wish the shower could be hot (since I like it scalding), but it's probably better for my skin this way. * No breakfast at this site. They have a little sundries shop where you can get bottled water, drinks, oatmeal, granola bars, chips, ice cream, popsicles, etc, but it would be nice to have a hot breakfast each morning. But they do have complimentary coffee all day long. I am so amazed at this hotel and I just had to write and rave about this place. Other hotels need to get some ideas from them. I have stayed in a lot of IHG properties, but I was blown away by my experience at this hotel. Private parking lot got to love that, great location downtown, the lobby is area is up to date and contemporary. The outside area by the pool has a television outside and two BBQ grills. They have a pretty large lending closet and cupboard area. The front desk staff from top to bottom was excellent especially Mary who made sure I got my corner room, my preferred floor and a late check out. A few blocks and you are in the night life area everything from chic-fil-a to bistro style dining, tapas and just good ol beer are available within a 10 minute walk of the property. The room was large I had the king suite, the a/c controls were non restrictive i got my temp in the room down to 62 trust me being in that Alabama heat did a number on me. Full fridge and a two burner stove are available, and the kicker for me was the large selection of channels available via DIRECTV in the room. The shower pressure was great and the towels were soft and supple. I will definitely stay here again. read more

I was excited about staying here after the reviews but was extremely disappointed in the room and the lack of service. 1) the room reeked of dog urine smells with stains on the carpet as soon as I opened the door. 2) there was only 1 spoon and 1 fork in the kitchen drawer. No paper towels in the kitchen too. Very few utensils and plates, cups etc. I went to the front desk to ask if I could have more utensils and paper towels. Front desk said for me to check the diswasher and get it myself! I asked if they were clean and her response if the washer "clicks" when i open it they are probably clean! How lazy is that the house keeper can't unload the diswasher? Front desk also said "sorry no paper towels, housekeeping ran out"! I saw some on her desk and asked if i could have it and she gave me what was left. $75 for a pet but all other candlewoods i stayed at were 20 to 25. You would think that at $75, they could at least professionally clean the carpet. Plaster coming off baseboards in bathroom from water leaks and a drawer was missing. This was THE most expensive hotel driving 2x across the USA and the WORST! read more

Went for a weekend stay and really enjoyed the room. It was big enough for my husband's wheelchair to get around. We went around downtown and I used the electric scooters they have. The downfall of the room was it was a suite and the separate room did not have an independent heat/air so in order to keep the separate room cool I had to crank up the AC in the other room and let the vent installed between the rooms work to keep it cool. The shower was great, plenty of hot water and it was accessible for my husband to be able to take a shower. Will return for another weekend getaway. read more

Last review was 10 days ago, still a one star. Imagine that. After having spent literally hours on the phone trying to straighten this out - and being assured it would be - it has not. A supervisor offered additional points as compensation. Insufficient for what we experienced (but taken off the table once escalation was requested). Escalated to corporate. Someone from corporate assured us all the billing issues were/would be fixed and would only offer us the same amount of bonus points as the supervisor. Yet, weeks later, IHG still hasn't refunded us. What happened, IHG use to be a decent place to stay - not anymore. read more

Stopping through mobile for the night and decided to stay here. This location is in mobiles downtown area. They have their own parking lot for hotel guests. The guest services was helpful. She was able to find a room for us very quickly as they had a lot of availability. We came at a good time because yesterday she said they were booked. We were able to get a room with two queen beds. Also they give a military discount so be sure to ask for that if you stay here. That saved us about 20 bucks. Upon entering the room you can tell it was not well cleaned. I Lysol'd everything just in case because you know we are in pandemic times. Doesn't look like the floors are well cleaned in the bathroom, walls are dirty, there was a nasty spot on one of the rolling chairs with white stuff and a TicTac on it, on the arm chair there were crumbs and dirt. The beds looked OK upon inspection, but the night table had stains all over it as if milk was splattered everywhere. It was not clean. A lot of dust on the lamps in the room. I think they need to do deep cleanings on all of these rooms, as I was sleeping I smelled a rotten egg smell which was probably coming from those stains from a spill that happened. They do have a fire pit and a pool outside which we were not able to utilize because we only stayed one night. Definitely needs a better cleaning job and cover repairs on walls in bathroom better. We LOVE this place. The rooms are clean & big with a large kitchen area, there's a lending locker, great workout room with free laundry AND the customer service is superb. We will be back. Room gets 5 stars for the price. Also, nice downtown location, easy to find off I-10. Lobby appears clean and modern. Kitchenette well-stocked. Hotel gym looks adequate, maybe slightly better-than-average. Poor rating for parking. Park in an open access garage across street. It is very run-down -- even for a parking garage. Minivan scraped pavement coming in. Several kids skateboarding around ramps on 2nd level -- doesn't give one a good feeling, especially after seeing the big sign that says not responsible for items left in car. And you get to pay $8 for the privilege to park there. I recommend they get a security guard or fence off the garage or both. Secondly, no carts to help me haul luggage for family of 5. Had to hand carry everything. Not easy to drop off kids / wife at lobby as there is no awning or parking space there. Finally, although the room is very large, they have a no rollaway bed policy "fire hazard." Not a problem. I understand. But the issue is that while making reservations I heard my wife on the phone asking about rollaway beds, and she was told they weren't a problem! If I had known this in advance (which is the POINT of calling in), we would have booked elsewhere. And no breakfast, which is unusual in my experience. Overall a substantially negative experience. In summary, if I were traveling alone, I would stay here in a heartbeat. Not super easy for families with young kids. read more

Really enjoyed staying close to downtown. Clean room and friendly staff. Restaurants and bars were 5-7 min walk from the hotel. The hotel does have a $25 incidental charge which is refundable if there are no damages. Pet fee $75 for entire stay. DVD rentals and a borrow cabinet for appliances/games you'd like to use during your stay. Definitely made use of the kitchenette. A key card is required for the elevator when going up to the room. Hotel parking is $9 per day. FYI... Before leaving the hotel, PLEASE double check to ensure you do not have a parking ticket on your vehicle. I received a $25 parking ticket after paying the hotel parking fee (still have the receipt). I was able to give the ticket to the hotel clerk which she verified date of my check-out was the same as the date on the ticket. Oops!!! Overall, I would stay here again and recommend to my family/friends. read more

We booked a king Suite 3 months in advance for New Year's Eve knowing that is was a tough night for rooms. We live close by but like to celebrate downtown for the holiday. We usually stay at the Renaissance but thought we would try something else. A month before our stay a woman named Maria called and demanded full payment upfront or we would lose the booking. We paid in good faith. On booking day we received a notice saying our room was no longer available. We were given a queen studio which was terrible & view of the parking. We would have never booked this hotel if we had know they were going to resell our suite for a higher cost. The front desk didn't even offer a reduction in lesser room until I demanded it. I met people in the elevator who had booked long after us who received a king Suite but paid more. So the hotel resold out room. What a lousy NYE. We will never stay at this property again. read more

We came here because we had to evacuate from Hurricane Irma. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very nice and we have been enjoying ourselves. The have a little lending area where you can borrow items/games to make your stay feel like you're at home. They also have a salt water pool, fire pit, a little area outside where you can watch football games, a pantry to purchase easy to heat up foods and snacks and it is pet friendly. They are so kind that upon check in they waived our pet fee, laundry fee for Florida evacuees and parking (not sure if there was a fee or not for this). This is my second time coming to a Candlewood and would definitely return. read more

This review is long overdue but the staff here is really friendly and accommodating. We stayed here for several months the summer of 16' and we never had a bad experience. The outside pool/grill area is great for socializing. You're only a couple blocks away from a music venue, theater, restaurants and bars (aka Dauphin st). The gym is pretty nice too, I would like more but its not bad for what it is. Would stay again over other hotel chains in the area. read more

This is my extended stay hotel of choice in Mobile. They have a great location in close proximity to downtown Mobile. The rooms are comfortable and it's easy to cook a meal in your room or head down to the patio and fire up one of the grills and play a few games of cornhole by the fire pit. The staff is super friendly and accommodating and will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The only slightest complaint would be parking is a little scarce on the weekends, and it would be nice to have a small continental breakfast during the week. Parking is easy. Beds are very comfortable. It is clean, and the staff is very nice. The pantry has lots of reasonably priced food, and the coffee is complimentary.
