Overpriced and underwhelmed. We have chosen Candlelight Florist for special deliveries and holidays many times. We have been so happy with deliveries in the past, that is until yesterday. The arrangement received was lacking and sub par. A chewed leaf with a hole in it, two wilting sunflowers with the leaves already falling off and this is the center front! If I was a floral designer I would be embarrassed to send these out to clients with my name and company on them. Honestly, I'm upset my husband spent his hard earned money on them. A $20 delivery fee and we are literally right around the corner, 5 minutes away. You would have thought they would have done more considering we are return customers time and time again (when there are SO many florists to choose from) and it being Valentine's Day!! I will say the flowers are pretty and the white smell good but for the price it's a NO for me. I wish he would've just given me the money and I could show them a thing or two on what a quality arrangement looks like. And to top all that off the woman who took the order was not the most pleasant. A bit rude actually. Buying flowers for a loved one ESPECIALLY on Valentine's Day or any occasion for that matter is very special and the process should be pleasant and seamless followed with a beautiful arrangement to admire. Very disappointed in what I ordered vs what I got! I paid $153 and ordered directly from their photo on their website. I called and expressed my concerns and was told they couldn't find the flowers that would match what I ordered. Instead they gave me flowers of equal value without informing me to see if I wanted to proceed. I asked for a refund and was told they don't issue one after the flowers are delivered. Went back 2 days after to place an order and she wanted me to pay more. She seemed too busy to talk to me and in a hurry. So frustrated with this florist. I have been living in Santee for over 30 years and any time I get a floral delivery that was called in through FTD they use Candlelight Florist. The flowers are not fresh the vase is filled with filler and the flowers only last a max of 3-4 days. I know that my family spends a lot of money when ordering flowers and for what they spent they are getting ripped off. When we get flowers from Allen's Flowers in La Mesa there is a night and day difference! Mothers Day was Sunday and only the Stargazers are left from my arrangement. I ordered and paid for the deluxe version of an arrangement and what was received was anything but deluxe. I called the florist to discuss the matter only to be told that they were out of certain flowers in the arrangement I ordered and some of the flowers would bloom later making it look more "full". I believe it would've been appropriate to contact me to let me know they were out of certain flowers to allow me to decide if I wanted another arrangement or cancel the order. The person I spoke with pretty much said they didn't know what to tell me beyond that, even though I said I was very unhappy with what was delivered. I have been to this flower shop multiple times since moving from downtown to santee. I wanted to patronize a small business as I too am a small business owner. I walked in with 20.00 to get my wife some get well flowers. She walks back out with 2 flowers and some green to add thickness. I am do disappointed. I ordered a box of rose petals to set up for my engagement proposal in Coronado. My friends actually came here and picked up the rose pedals for me to help set up. I did Red/white rose pedals. When I got the chance to see the rose pedals they were freshly picked from roses and smelled fresh-Rosie. My friends said when they first picked up the box of pedals it looked like it wouldn't be enough but they later discovered the box was jam packed with a good amount of pedals thanks to Candlelight they played a huge part of my proposal having this be a last minute request. It's a nice little florist in Santee located in a strip mall by a smoothie place, a nail salon and an all you can eat Chinese restaurant. A very interesting and unusual situation... An elderly friend was to be celebrating her 79th birthday. Several of us would of course be sending flowers and we decided that we would have a competition amongst florists... initially there were five of us, each selecting a florist to use... we did end up with four florists that we gave this assignment to... My choice of Candlelight Florist was based on a very quick phone conversation with the owner, Linda and she did not disappoint. Linda got her submission to Gail the day prior to her birthday, so that Gail would have the arrangement to enjoy the full day of her birthday, the others arrived late morning of the birthday. In my conversation with Gail following her birthday, it was quite clear in her placement of the arrangement in her home, and not a surprise to me that Candlelight's arrangement by Linda prevailed as her favorite and I must say it was quite a beautiful presentation. I ordered a sympathy bouquet for a funeral and it didn't turn out how they advertised on their website plus they had to substitute the vase it came in because they didn't have that one in stock. I was thisclose to taking on doing my own flowers for my wedding after having an unpleasant experience at another florist shop in San Diego. And then a friend recommended Lori to me. And the clouds parted - I had found my wedding flower saviour. She is SO nice and so awesome. A real pleasure to work with, and unlike a lot of other florists that I found to be incredibly over price, her prices were much more down to earth. I wasn't super particular on what types of flowers I had, only that I have some roses, and that they aligned with my color scheme, and Lori delivered - she made us gorgeous table arrangements, corsages and boutonnieres.
