We had been adventuring all day and we ended up arriving in time to get a food order in with the kitchen before they switched over to drinks only. We ordered the Italian Mojito, Antipasti with Prosciutto Cotto and Scamorza Affumicate, the Nonna's Meatballs, Porchetta Crostone, and Sicilian Paccheri. The mojito was delicious and had a limoncello foam on it. Very refreshing. The antipasti was truly the highlight of the meal. The meat and cheese was delicious and the bread and onion chutney was perfect with them. If we visit again we would definitely would do more of the antipasti. The Nonna's meatballs were served in a bread bowl. These were ok, but didn't blow us away. However, the bread bowl was perfect for getting extra sauce from the other dishes. The Porchetta Crostone was a highlight of the meal. Very flavorful, the bread was crispy and it was a good mix of sweet and salty. This would be something we'd order again as well. The Sicilian Paccheri was a pistachio pesto pasta and was cooked al dente and was a very tasty pasta: they were generous with the sauce too so we dipped the bread from the Nonna's meatballs in the sauce as well. It wasn't too busy while we were there and we were amongst the last customers there for the evening. The staff was friendly and they were able to bring out our food pretty quickly. The restaurant would be good for date nights, meet ups and small or large groups. While we were there a group of about ten was wrapping up and seemed to have an amazing time as well.

I had picked this one because I had not heard of pistachio as the base for pasta sauce before. The combination turned out splendid and the pasta itself was cooked the perfect amount of time. I liked that the dish was topped with whole shrimp and the meat was not tough. The wording on the plate was funny too. ----- Crab & Seabass Ink Ravioli: fresh squid ink ravioli filled with seabass & crab meat, in a slow cooked tasty Mediterranean octopus ragu (£18.95). ----- Make sure to book a table. We had a change of plans and suddenly stopped by Friday evening at 6 PM. The place was absolutely packed with both indoor and outdoor seats filled. Fortunately a couple of bar seats were still available, and so we sat in the back next to a deli selling certain items. A 10% service charge is automatically added onto the bill. While you're in there why not check out their selection of classic VHS videos, and maybe take along a few drinks with your pals. Who can beat a cult movie, few beers, good pals & great pizza? Whether you're looking for an bite to eat during the day, early evening, or after a big night out their pizza slices are certainly big enough to satisfy the appetite. Prices are pretty reasonable at around £4 per serving - but be assured that there's no skimping on the quality of the ingredients. They've got a good selection to choose from, so if you're a pizza fan then you'll absolutely love Kitschen. A new addition to Leeds that is sure to quickly establish itself as a regular hang out for me!

Kitschen follows fine traditions of street food, serving up slices of hot pizza, filled sandwiches, fully-laden doughballs, and from what can only be witchcraft, tea and coffee for 50p, We went with the latter two this time, our doughballs smothered with cheese, tomato sauce, and roasted vegetables, and were quickly devoured, and the coffees followed suit quickly. The doughballs were lovely and crisp on the outside, and once cracked open were lovely and fluffy, complimenting the rich toppings well, and the coffee was great as well; actual filter coffee, not reconstituted instant malarkey. We were also lucky enough to sample one of their experimental calzones that they plan to add to the menu soon, this one stuffed with salami and spinach, and I eagerly await till I can get another one! This is well worth a trip to if you're hanging around the Corn Exchange!

So when I want a good pizza guaranteed and a good dining experience to boot, then I head down to the Pizza Express near the Corn Exchange. So you should know by now what you get at this quite excellent and big chain. Succulent pizza, mouth watering pastas and divine dough balls. It's all here. Fresh ingredients, ever changing menus and a fantastic wine selection. Job done. Now I especially like this Pizza Express for several reasons. Firstly, the venue is class. Big expansive ceilings, stone flooring and lots and lots of space. Even on Saturday nights, you won't wait an age to get a table. Add to that the five star service. All the waiters are friendly and more importantly they are quick and proficient. You'll be in and out as quickly as you want to be. The only minor side is the lack of space to wait if it is busy and the lack of an ability to have a quick drink whilst you count down those minutes to feasting time. Maybe they just didn't want to serve me because I'm a dodgy looking character? Anyway, that aside it has to be one of my favourite pre Saturday night out eating haunts.

So, it was about 9ish I think when we got here, and despite it being busy, we got a table straight away. The service was slower than I'd usually have liked, but it was actually refreshing that it was a bit more laid back. We weren't in any rush, so it resulted in a nice, relaxing evening. What I was really impressed with was that when I asked for the bill, the waiter asked me whether I had any vouchers to use, which was awesome as it took away that whole embarrassing 'hello, yes, I'm a bit tight, please can I use this voucher, don't tell anyone I'm poor' moment that I absolutely loathe. Well done Pizza Express waiter dude. The marinated olives were delish, and the mains were equally as tasty. I had the Bosco salad (all ingredients I adore - avocado, mozzarella, garlic mushrooms, rocket and that), and Hot Steve had an American pizza. I was very good and had a machiatto instead of a pudding, although Steve had one of those toffee fudge concoctions and the waitress very cleverly brought two spoons touches like that make a difference, and that's why I'll come back again. I don't know why it's been so long since I've been to Pizza Express, but I think it'll be something I do regularly now. PS Two Peroni, a bottle of San Pellegrino, and all the above came to £25.00 on the nose with one of those 2-4-1 mains vouchers. Cheaper than Steak n Chicken Tuesdays end up at the Arc : )

They're a quid, which is fairly good value for those who are too scared to face a whole pizza (however, it's better value to get a whole one and finish it off for breakfast if you have no shame like me) and they're pretty tasty whether you're sober or drunk (most people in here will be the latter). Sometimes, however, you get the last slice of a pizza that's been sitting around for ages and has gone a little bit stale or soggy, and it's not the most pleasant culinary experience. The service could also be a little bit quicker, but all in all they're doing a good job.

My favourites are the Vegetarian Deluxe, the Celery and Blue Cheese, and the Pizza Pesto, although most people I know (ok, Steve) go for the Meat Feast or the Meatheads and Madcows. Ooh a good tip - if you can agree on a topping, share an 18 family size - it works out cheaper and it's very exciting when the delivery man turns up. I feel like I'm in some kind of US sitcom/teen drama like Dawson's OC or something.

A shame, because it's one of the best takeaways in the city. Pizza, pasta bakes and chicken and chips, all available for under £3, with free delivery on orders over £5. Friendly guy on the phone. Delivered within quoted time. Their pizzas have a pretty thin base and the selection isn't huge, but the dough and tomato sauce is excellent, and consequently the whole thing tastes a lot fresher and a lot more home-made than the stodge-fests you normally get locally. Obviously, you can build your own if you're super picky. Likewise with their customisable pasta bakes, which may seem an odd choice for a takeaway to offer, but they're ideal for when you want something half normal but you just don't want to cook it yourself. Potato wedges for £1.50 too... next level root vegetable manoeuvre! Being inside an off licence means they can take your booze order on the same call, which is handy, and they regularly have competitive offers on. The only downside is that with no online menu you're stuck asking for it to be dictated to you down the phone the first time you ring. They've gone to the trouble of posting camp videos of someone in a giant cartoon head on youtube so hopefully a useful web presence will follow. They shut pretty early in the week but 1am close on Friday and Sat nights.

This is one of three Pizza Express locations in Leeds city centre. It is the most centrally located…read moreof the three, it is in an old listed building on Albion Place, just outside Trinity Leeds. You will have to go up a couple of steps to get inside, I'm not sure if they have a way around this for people with access requirements, although there is an outdoor seating area which doesn't require steps. The interior has the charm of the newly refurbished Pizza Express locations with the orange booth-style seating on the back walls. I visited for lunch in the early afternoon so the restaurant was quiet. Only one waitress was serving the entire restaurant, but granted they weren't busy enough to justify any more staff members, it seemed spookily busy for a Pizza Express, having visited dozens of their locations across the country. I ordered a gluten-free Pollo Ad Astra, with gluten-free dough balls, both served at the same time. My food came out very quickly. The amount of toppings on the pizza was generous and the chicken was tasty, however, the pizza was overloaded with the passata, so the toppings would slide off when cutting the pizza, it was also really greasy, oily and unpleasant. The dough balls were served piping hot with a generous helping of garlic butter, they were really dry without the butter though, so a generous dollop of the garlic butter was required with everyone. Prices for the pizzas seemed a little higher than other Pizza Express locations, before any discounts, my Gluten-Free Pollo Ad Astra came to £14.30, which would usually cost around £13.95, my guess is the rent is super high here due to being located in a listed building in a central location. Granted, the difference isn't that much but it does add up if you're in a large group, so if you're looking to save money you might wish to head to the Leeds Arena branch, on Merrion Way, which is around half a mile or so away on foot. PRO TIP: Be sure to take advantage of their Pizza Express Club loyalty scheme on their app, after just a couple of visits you can get a bunch of freebies to make your trip more affordable. Without these offers, it can be a little pricey however once you unlock the gold tier you're able to get bonuses such as a free soft drink, bottled water, dough balls, coffee and Dolcetti and the list continues. This location has potential for sure being in such a good location, but if they can't even get the food right when they're busy, how can they cope during a rush? I wouldn't return to this specific Pizza Express location, unfortunately. 2*

Salads and sides come in at about £3.50 each, but a salad, garlic bread, pizza and coke set us back £10 each, so that's not too bad for a swift dinner! Mention must be made of the fab waiter who sorted us out so well. Staff seem totally sound, and whilst the pizza didn't set my world alight, it certainly did the job! Pretty tasty a lovely experience to sit al fresco in the sun. Worth a visit!
