Never been here before but heard it through friends that had been here previous and have just moved to Leeds within the last 6 months so still finding all the places I want to spend my time and recommend.
However, I will never set foot in this place again under current manager/owner. I took my girlfriend and another female friend from out of town here this afternoon for sunday dinner before they had to jump on a train.
Upon arrival, loved the vibe and the Sky Sports football and relaxed on sofas although it was chilled and not really that busy. We sat down and ordered drinks before ordering 3 meals at the bar. 25 minutes later, we apporached the bar to kindly ask how long the food would be. We was advised within 5 minutes. OK we thought and bearing in mind we never got advised that there was a delay on food, we thought we would be fine to wait the extra five minutes later. 10-15 minutes passed and I personally appraoched the bar again to ask if the barman could persue our food in light of the further weight.
Finally, the food arrived. Well actually my girlfriends food arrived before waiting a further 5 minutes for the final two dishes to which two guys brought these out.
I thought at this stage we would maybe get a 'sorry about the wait on your food and hope you enjoy it' at the very least (I realistically expected a gesture in kind but I would never ask as that's generally my nature), only for nothing to be said.
As they left the table, I was massivaley disappointed to say the least and thought at this stage I should perhaps share with the barman our experiences thus far.
The guy had absolutely no empathy nor customer service skills in the slightest and basically challenged me and then said the food had actually been 38 minutes when I suggested it had been 45 minutes and then continued to advise me that 38 minutes on freshly prepared food was acceptable. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I don't know what planet this guy lives on but I have never experienced these timelines previously without exceptions.
Also, how dare he challenge me and shrug his shoulders and say 'well that is how it is'. Unbelievable. He then cared to share with me he was the owner. Maybe his horrendous people and customer service skills reflect the shocking service and his horrific attitude to 3 calm and polite PAYING customers.
I was left almost shacking with fury over this but my girlfriend was good enought to calm me down. IT also left a very bad taste in my mouth (not form the food).
He disappeared for the next 20 minutes or so whilst we ate our food. Believe you me, it was the worst experience I can ever recall and I still cannot believe it. Although we was very thirsty, we refused to spend another penny in this establishment in principle.
The only positive thing I have to say was that the other barman, called Chris, whome collected the plates and asked how the food was, handled the situation the best he possible could when I felt the need to share our experience with him. Although his hands were probably tied, he was very apologetic on behalf of his boss and credit to him in a very difficult situation.
On a serious note, I hope this 'owner' is presented with the position of the need to move on to allow this potential quaint venue to hit it's potential of 5 stars. If it was a chain, or there was other people above the 'owner', for the first time in my life, I wouldn't hesitate to take this further.
After all, what do I know, I've only been involved in successful senior management in front of house food and beverage for 6 years in total.
All in all, a really poor part of otherwise a great day. read more
