Another great Mexican Restaurant in the SC upstate! We have probably tried at least 20 different Mexican restaurants in the area, so our standards have become pretty high for this kind of food. Cancun did not disappoint. The prices (especially at lunch) are very reasonable and the food is pretty typical of any of the good Mexican restaurants around. The restaurant is small and family owned, and the service is friendly and fast, just as you would expect. What impressed me most and was an upgrade from most Mexican restaurants in the area was actually the kids menu! While they had all of the typical choices (enchilada, taco, burrito), the kids menu also offered smaller versions of meals like pollo fundido and steak with cheesy rice! My kids were thrilled at the expanded choices and the portions were very generous for a $4.25 kids meal! When we are up that way again, I'm sure we will be back at Cancun :) read more

We have tried a few mexican restaurants in the area and they have all been lacking. This one was a pleasant surprise. I read the reviews and it was a mixed bag. It could be different depending on who is working. So the good. The food was really good. I read reviews of the food being bland but I didn't experience that with anything during my visit. The serving sizes were good. The not so good- they brought chips and salsa and they got our drinks out really quickly but after that it took a good 15 mins before anyone came back to take our order. Great quick meal! Texas Nachos, beef nacho, Gabi's special, and arroz con pollo we're all good. The food wasn't much different from other Me I am joints, but the atmosphere and staff made it exceptional. Very attentive! The owner or manager walked around several times to check on our table and refilled drinks. I will come here again just for the service. read more

We checked this place out and have grown to like it. It's a close-knit place so be prepared to converse with your neighbor, but it's not a bad place to do so. The owner (Elmer) and the staff are super friendly. The food is always really fresh and the portions are spot on! My favorite dish is the poblanos- peppers are sometimes unpredictable but the quest stuffing helps soothe the bite or spice. My husband always likes to get the Cancun grill which includes steamed veggies and chicken over rice. Love the mango margarita or the strawberry is good too. I have been coming here for years. The food has always been great and arrives promptly. The servers can be a little rude or in too much of a rush sometimes but they do get very busy. It's pretty clean, near the highway and you can get in and out fairly quickly. It's gotten a little more pricey as their popularity has grown but still a good place to go when you're craving Mexican food. read more

Driving from Charlotte to Atlanta can make your stomach grumbly. We stopped off at a random exit and looked around for a family-owned non-gross food place of any variety. It was really nice to sit down in a friendly atmosphere, packed full of happy locals on a Wednesday night, enjoying their meal. The staff was super accommodating. Told them we were vegan, and he said "so no cheese and no sour cream"? Props to that guy for knowing what we were talking about! The service was attentive, friendly and it felt really comfortable to sit down and stretch the legs here. My heat index for Mexican food is quite high after living in Arizona for 20 years so the heat index in my opinion is mild. That said, the food is fresh and tasty. The Cancun cheese steak burrito that my traveling companion had was very tasty, especially the grilled onions. I had the chicken burritos with guacamole and sour cream. Again flavorful. This is the worst Mexican restraunt I've ever eaten at. I got the #1 combo which comes with enchiladas rice and a taco, the enchilada meat was bland as was the sauce. Love it! Some times a little too much salt but usually good and inexpensive. Call ahead is always ready and correct.

I was served my beer ,chips and water immediately. I ordered a lunch number 3 with a relleno on the side. I'd say the enchilada was mediocre but the beans ,rice, and relleno were exceptional. If the meat was any worse, they could call the restaurant ALPO. I got the big combination plate thinking I was in for some variety but it was literally all the same ingredients rearranged in different tortilla configurations on two plates. Visited yesterday, 30Aug15. The Cancun Steak Burrito, refried beans & rice were excellent. Service was not very good. Only 2 sets of silverware for a table of 3. Had to ask for additional silverware. Once we were served, the wait staff did not return to ask about refills on drinks or if we needed a to go box. Am told that the normal wait staff is top notch. Will try again, but may have to do so during the week to see if service is any better. read more

Greet service, friendly people. Food came out fast and didn't taste like it came from a microwave (which it doesn't). Prices are good for the amount of food you get. The chips are free unlike few Mexican restaurants I've been to. They have sports on their tvs. Place is a little small but if you live close they have pick-up. read more
