Food is good for Ajax Sri Lankan eats. Rolls and biriyani are the best. Also sell a huge variety of frozen foods for out of towners.

Jaffna's Mutton Kari with Jaffna-style rice ($11.99) is an incredible value in downtown Toronto…read more The mutton kari was rich, savory, and packed with aromatic spices like star anise, curry leaves, and cardamom. The spice level was spot on and added just the right amount of heat. It was slightly on the salty side, but overall I really loved it and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Great flavor and excellent value for the price.

After weighing my options, I opted for a Devilled Chicken Wrap from Jaffna Street Food. I was asked what I wanted on it, so I said everything and the wait began. Somehow it took almost 20 minutes for my food to be ready, which was a little weird since the place wasn't busy at all. Nevertheless it's the quality of the food that's important. It's an okay wrap. The Devilled Chicken is quite tasty and very flavorful, and the plentiful other components are also good. The problem, then, is the lack of sauce tying the whole thing together. I would get whole bites of just plain white rice. It was extremely off-putting. Finally I gave up and took the whole thing apart and began eating it with a fork and knife. At least that way I was guaranteed to get a bit of everything in every bite. Jaffna's certainly got potential, but they have some key areas that desperately need to be addressed and fixed.

However, I happened to be in Bowmanville having lunch with a friend when we decided to stop into this location. The owner was super friendly and we watched him explain all the different dishes and options to customers. I love passion like that! It was my turn and my friend having had them before recommended the Devil Chili Chicken Roll. I love spice and they promised I wouldn't be disappointed. This roll was huge . Like a giant Taquito. Filled with curry and cheese. It was magical. I was so impressed. And there was a little heat to it which made me happy!!! I also tried their samosas . I did samosa roulette and tried to guess what each color meant. I LOVED purple which I think was the mango jerk chicken. 10/10 Also quite enjoyed the orange, red and blue samosas . They make all their sauces in house so naturally being a Sauce Addict I had to try one of each The cilantro, signature garlic, and mango pineapple habanero were my favorites. Being close by, I'll definitely be back to try some of their other fusion dishes.

I tried their butter chicken samosa, mango jerk chicken and devil chili chicken samosa along with mutton rolls. I'll have to come back in the morning or order a fresh batch cause my samosas were hard but had lots of filling. As for the mutton rolls, very very meaty but didn't taste as flavourful as sri Lankan rolls. Looking forward to trying their kothu roti next.

Lumbini Hut has been one of my favourite restaurants in Ajax since discovering it a few months ago…read more Their Nepali cuisine is so delicious, hitting all the right notes on my palette. It's savoury, very flavourful, well prepared, and nicely presented. On this visit, our group sat on their spacious patio, recently opened for the season. Our evening started with cocktails and live entertainment. Refreshing. Great start! That was followed by their delicious appetizers and mains, all beautifully presented. * Pani Puri * Vegetable Tandoori Momo * Vegetable Steamed Momo * Chilli Chicken Momo * Wai Wai Sadeko * Dragon Chicken * Chilli Paneer * Chilli Chicken * Sekuwa Chicken * Vegetable Chow Mein * Vegetable Thakali Thali * Mutton Thakali Thali Our choices included veg and non-veg selections and we enjoyed every bite. Everything was flavourful and more than satisfying. Delicious! For special events, they have private banquet facilities on the lower level that can accommodate up to 150ppl. It includes dining tables, bar, a stage, three large projection screens, sound system, buffet setup, and washrooms. It's perfect for special occasions or business meetings.

The servers are wearing traditional garments and there is beautiful artwork on the walls . Friday - Sunday they even have live music. They have a large space in the restaurant for parties and events. After speaking with the owner, I found the upstairs event space can accommodate 50 patrons and the downstairs hall can host 200! Wow. Now onto the exciting part; The food. We ordered a couple different dishes and shared Dahi Puri Chicken Choyela Chicken Steam Momo's Chicken Chow Mein Thakali Set - Mutton Paratha I'm a huge Dahi Puri lover. This version blew me away... The flavor profile was perfection. ( My friend LOVED this dish as well. ) Next up were the Momo's. They're known for their Momo's. I do prefer a steamed Momo, so we went with steamed chicken. The portion size was quite large and the dipping sauce paired well; they had so much flavor. The next appetizer dish was one I have never had before; Chicken Choyela. I generally don't enjoy crunchy / textured foods but my friend quite enjoyed the puffed rice addition of this dish. The chicken had a unique flavor, unlike anything I've had before. It was solid. Their Chow Mein is another dish that they're known for. I seem to prefer noodles over rice these days. (But, I'm generally disappointed with most places noodles.) These were SUPERB! They had a smoky flavor to them and were a 10/10. I've had Thali but never a Thakali. While similar, they are different; We chose the mutton option. This dish was incredibly tender and bursting with flavors. Dish after dish impressed us. This spot hits all the right notes and is a definite must visit if you're in the area. My friend was so impressed, he's already planning his next visit!
