Everything was great with my car deal, until it wasn't. The finance office completely screwed up…read morethe tax in my state (Michigan) and charged me 8% instead of 6% on November 22nd, so now I have to follow up to attempt to get my $267.98 from them back. General Manager Zack promised a check for that amount along with a repair they were covering for me due to a check engine light coming on within hours after I bought the car (check for $342.69) would be overnighted to me either Monday or Tuesday at the latest. This car deal is over two weeks old and they still haven't made it right. General Manager Zack on Saturdayn 12/6 gives me his cell phone to which it always goes to voicemail and he never returned my call Monday or Tuesday. I called tonight (Tuesday) to try to rectify the situation and my original sales person (Luis - there's the name so you know who NOT to buy a car from) tells me they are waiting to hear back from the State of Michigan for the check because they don't want to over pay me or under pay me for the refund. Ummm...what year is this???? ANYONE CAN GOOGLE and it will tell you the tax for the State of Michigan for auto sales is 6% - not 8%. Stop trying to cover up lies with more lies. All I want is for the money I overpaid for this car to be returned to me. If their F&I guy knew what he was doing from the start and did a little research he would've known it was 6% to start with and charged me accordingly. But no, we'd rather take the hit on our reviews online vs taking care of the customer from the start of the deal. You'd think a 40 car a month store would have the time to actually follow through and ensure customer satisfaction.

WITH not just us, but also family members AS WITNESSES to being kicked out politely, ignored & sent away with the engine problem that still has not been fixed by them or acknowledged regarding warranty etc. Her warranty was canceled without her notice even the loan company is questioning why we have had to go through all this with them! Therefore, they are suddenly acting like they care....shameful! When I say, we will sue for mental anguish, loss of work, danger to my grandchildren & my daughter!!!! What will they do next?! We expect this fixed or we will go as high as we can to make sure no one else goes through anything like this. I have lost a LOT of money due to this & so has my daughter...will they pay her for her loss of work?! For the mental damages?! For the fear it caused our family when the tire rod disconnected with my grandsons in the back seat?! They passed inspection while it should NEVER have passed. This is dirty! And NOW they respond?! We purchased this vehicle in 2023, it is now 2025 & they have done absolutely nothing but cause us anguish & anger for stealing our money from us. And hurting my daughter's career as, like anyone else, she needs a reliable vehicle to get to & from work!!! Will they actually FIX or REPLACE with a BETTER OPTION due to ALL our losses from a dirty auto dealership!!!! We will spread this everywhere until this issue is fixed!

Finally, she helped me when I was really mourning my old, beloved van and put me in a car that is so much better for my current empty nest traveling. Everyone I spoke with at the dealership were wonderful, but Lauren was and is a treasure!!

I do not like taking my vehicle to the dealer for service because they charge $110.00 per hour…read more However sometimes it is necessary. When I bought my 2011 Sienna in 2015, it had only 17,000 miles. For the price, it was a "new van" and I needed it as a modified handicapped van to transport my wife in her wheelchair. There was many issues with the van, including replacing 4 batteries due to frequent discharge. I found out that handicapped vehicles are notorious for discharged batteries due to the fed regs that require some equipment to be always on in case of accident. In the beginning of the month, the van went into "fail save mode, and I had the Trifecta of trouble ABS, Check Engine and Slip indicator lights all glowed orange. On the clock, there was a message about the VSC module bad, and said "go to the dealer". As far as driving it, it was in "fail-safe mode" so I could not go faster than 20 MPH, and over 1500 RPM. So I went the cheapo route, and took it to my local pro mechanic. His test, the On Board Diagnostic indicated that the throttle body sensor was bad, so I bought a new throttle ($215.00) He put it in, the van still would not go over 20 MPH. When he cleared the same three lights, the On Board Diagnostic now told me I needed to get a new throttle assemble ($125.00). As the philosopher Yogi Berra famously said, "Déjà vu all over again" Time to bite the bullet, and be prepared to pay over $1360 on a new ECM (vehicle computer). After I told the mechanic, my intuition says that it is an electrical issue, he started checking. the first thing he did was pull the wire harness off the Engine Control Module, and inspected the pins which the connector slides into. He found that 2 pins shorted due to contact, and used a screw driver to pry them apart. Van now runs like a champ! I used to get 16-17 MPG, but now I am getting over 22. How much gas was I wasting due to that short? Evidently, before I got the van, some ham-handed mechanic forced the connector into the pins, and damaged them, so for 30,000 miles I was not getting the proper fuel economy I needed, and the problem I had could have been much worse. Yes, more money than I wanted to spend (I did not have to get more parts :-) so I am happy about that). But that is my take on what happened today, and that is why I gave the service the rating I gave.

I came into the shop only for them to tell me that not only did their transmission guy retired, but that I could "take my car to another Ford dealership" seeing as how there was now a void in that part of the shop. This seemed like a mixture of poor planning as well as really terrible customer service. There was no assistance in getting me an appointment elsewhere, and there seemed to be a major disinterest in doing anything beside the routine oil change that was unnecessary in this situation. I am super disappointed in how far this dealership has fallen off.

I have used Cortese Ford, Van Bortel, and the one on Ridge Rd (it used to be Vision but I forget the name) but all 3 of those Ford dealers left me unimpressed and Cortese even left me feeling scammed. I should probably write a negative review but I hate doing that if I don't know for certain. Anyway, I live in Rochester, and for me, Shepard Ford is worth the drive, for fair pricing, easy shopping, and good sales, and service departments. If you're a Ford person, I recommend them.

From what I understand, they do a good job in the actual repairs…read more However, I definitely feel like they judge and take advantage of customers who don't know better. Recently, I had my taillights replaced (the whole system) and I was quoted $200 for a new pair. When I came to pay, they denied ever saying $200 over the phone, and told me that it was $240 and that was it. I was prepared to pay $200 and labor, not $240 and labor. They did not call me to check if the new cost was okay, which in NYS is against auto law. You're supposed to ask customers if the adjustment is okay if it's over 10% of the originally quoted price. If I had bought used parts, it would have been HALF the cost. I only wanted new parts for their so called warranty. I wouldn't have spent $240 if I knew. It would literally be cheaper to have them take out the new parts and exchange them for the used parts, even including the extra labor. The first time I was here, I asked to get my taillights and brakes fixed. They ignored the taillights, fixed the brakes and managed to find several other "issues" to upsell me with. Honestly not a good business to go to if you don't know cars. They will screw you and your wallet. Recent update: The owner reached out to me and after a few emails, I did get a gift certificate to Trombley's (undoubtedly to try to keep me as a customer).
