My dad would always get the Saturday edition each week. It had Starweek, the entertainment magazine with TV listings, crossword puzzles, and more. I don't think this magazine exists anymore. I liked the comics and entertainment sections the most. Over the years, I ended up reading everything. When I was looking for a summer job, I'd look at the classifieds. I managed to work a couple of summers during my high school years. There's currently a digital subscription special. It's $1 for six months of online access. After that period, it's $28 a month. I believe that after a certain number of article reads that you do online, you get a message to subscribe. I oddly don't get it now and I'm not sure why. I do subscribe to getting a daily synopsis of tops stories in my inbox. It's nice to be informed. The Food and Drink section is great. I like the occasional recipe and what's trending in the greater Toronto area. I also like restaurant recommendations, including the best diners in the GTA. I'll probably stick to accessing articles digitally than getting the physical paper delivered to my door. Getting the top stories in my inbox for free is nice. (100)

I find that George Noory commands the night and blankets most good radio stations in Canada and in the US. I find the show exagerates issues alot and I think they could be made up i don,t know. What ever happened to Art bells new show called Midnight in the Desert? It didin,t have a long run on radio which I think its the result of George Noory. I think he is responsible for Art not being on the air.The weekend shows I don,t like maybe I might tune into Roy Green from 2 to 5pm but i usually don,t. The station has a pretty good signal but once past London Ont it gets weaker.I don,t know how far north and south and east it reaches.Anyways I get sometimes upset listening to Coast to Coast and wonder how they get there subjects and the people behind them. I have googled the shows guests and I do get reasonable results on those people. How creditable are they? I don,t know. So if you want to be disturbed this is the place and the station to listen to.

It's up the street, at the corner of Victoria Street and Dundas Street East. CityTV has moved around a handful of times. I remember as a kid, taking the 501 Queen streetcar and seeing the station name at 99 Queen Street East, which was its original location. It was home to some fun programming. I enjoyed coming home from school to take in Toronto Rocks, which was hosted by John Mahjor. He played videos and took requests, including birthday shout-out messages live on the air. Ah, memories! The station then moved to 299 Queen Street West. It ended up being the CHUM City Building. It was home to CityLine, MuchMusic, Speakers Corner, Electric Circus, and more. I remember the MuchMusic Video Awards held at the corner of Queen Street West and John Street for years. I was an audience member for the Marilyn Denis Show one time. I went to see James Blunt and had a fabulous time. Free tickets are always great. I can say that I set foot in this building. CHUM ended up selling its assets to its parent company, CTV. So, another location change happened. CityTV's current location is right in front of Yonge-Dundas Square, in the heart of downtown Toronto. CP24 (the around-the-clock news station), CityLine, Breakfast Television, and many other shows are broadcast from this building these days. I was able to look through the window last Friday and see the CityLine set. It was nice to check it out quietly as I headed to my car. Many Torontonians who have been around for a bit will remember Mark Dailey's voice, who was the voice of City TV. City TV. Everywhere. He was my neighbour when I was young. He lived in the apartment next to my family's. He was always nice. Sometimes, he'd leave his news scripts on the ledge in front of our communal mailboxes. Sadly, he passed away from cancer. CityTV was pretty cool back in the day. I liked everything from the CHUM countdowns to Fashion TV. I don't watch its programming all that much these days. I like Breakfast Television in the morning, especially with Meredith Shaw joining the crew recently. I tend to watch CP24 when I'm killing time, either at the doctor's office, or at work in the lunchroom... haha! It was cool to reminisce and reflect on how programming from this station has shaped me. It's cool that I moved back to the greater Toronto area and I'm still watching Breakfast Television! (467)

Back in April 2023, my employer, and the Globe and Mail had a webcast event discussing 5G transformation in the world. The Globe and Mail hosted this event. I attended to learn about what folks from my employer were saying about the risks and opportunities with 5G. Since this event, the Globe and Mail has put me on its event mailing list. I also got a bunch of messages in my inbox to subscribe digitally to its online content. It's funny that my employer has automatically put these event messages from the Globe and Mail directly in my spam folder... haha! I do get that some newspapers, like the Toronto Star, allow you to view several articles online for free. It'll then block access and ask that you subscribe. After all, the newspaper does need to generate revenue. With the Globe and Mail, if you access the site for the first time, it'll automatically prevent you from reading any article and will ask you to subscribe. I don't agree with this business model. What if I only want to read a single article. Why force me to do a minimum four-week digital subscription? What if I subscribe, read an article, and dislike it? I'm now paying for poor content. To cancel, you have to contact customer support. You can't do it online. You must call customer support. I don't mind talking to a human. However, your subscription is digital. It would make sense that if you can subscribe online, you can also cancel online. Instead, you are inconveniencing customers by being inflexible and archaic. Out of the big three newspapers that you can get in the greater Toronto area, the Globe and Mail has always been the least favourite for me. It's likely because it's heavily business-oriented, which has never interested me. Same goes with its financial Report on Business section. I'd rather not read any article from this newspaper if it's going to constantly tell me to subscribe and cough up payment without reading a single article in full. (86)
