Not sure why so many people seem to be hating on this place (other than the possibly sketchy hours), but this location seems to be no different than the others. Other than this is the main post office for the city. And the building, though listed as "heritage", is pretty freaking ugly. Parking is available in front, but not for free. Guess the government's gotta eat. The inside is quite spacious for a post office, as it's not tucked into the back of some convenience store like many other locations. I've been here a few times, and had a good experience each time. Usually there's a line, but it moves rather quickly. The people working here are helpful. They have these huge pictures of stamps hanging high up above the counter. Last time I was there, I took a picture of one, and was quickly reprimanded. "No pictures inside Canada Post!" I'm not sure how technical that rule is. No one came over and made me clear the picture, so I have it dear Yelpers an inside view of Canada Post. Now- my one complaint- after hours service. There's drop boxes outside- cool. But why not a little vending machine for stamps. That would be incredibly useful. Or even better- an automated postal machine. you know sometimes it's just better to go directly to the source. I went in here the other day to drop off 30 letter and I was pleasantly surprised that there was not one, but rather several available tellers to help me. The man behind the counter was friendly, fast and courteous. You know when you usually go to drop off a parcel at a postal outlet and they toss the stamps at you and make you put them on yourself, well not here the gentleman offered and put them on for me.... all thirty! While he was placing the stamps for me I couldn't help feel like I had been transported back to 1961, or in a episode of Mad Men b/c the building is like a time capsule that has not been touched since it was built, and we all know how a mid-century design makes me tingle in my no no spot. a little flash back for you .. 6 years ago I went to an art show in this building. The show was about dreams and it was located in the depth of the building. you went in through the loading dock, passed all the mail trucks, past all the sorting, down some stairs, past more trucks, down some more stairs, and then down a ramp into a long tunnel filled with dripping water and I am sure things from the black beyond. Fantastic service at this new boutique location. This pictures for this Yelp location are for the old Post Office. The new one is much more modern, and rarely busy (at least when I go there). The people working there are super friendly, and very helpful. Having recently returned from NYC, where the PO service is sassy and completely unhelpful (to the point of being malicious), this Canada Post hit it out of the park. There was a lady who helped package my box and helped me through the entire process of shipping out a parcel, all without any hint of attitude. I could have driven to Toronto and back in less than that amount of time, the funny thing is I happen to ship packages out of Hong Kong all over the world using Hong Kong's Registered speed post ( set's me back around $7 dollars for packages that weigh a little over 1 pound btw ) and they get to Singapore and Malaysia in 5 days, the US in one week, India in 10 days! I need to start a list entitled "Dan J. Moments" Today is a Dan J. moment. I haven't received any mail for the last two weeks. Like...nothing. At all. I knew that my family was sending me some birthday gifts via Canada Post (dun dun dun) so I've been checking the mail every day in hopes of receiving my gifts. But...nope. Nothing. So then today at work I get an e-mail from my mom asking why I haven't picked up my birthday gift yet, that it's "waiting for me at the Post Office to be picked up." She sends me the tracking number which indicates "attempted delivery" and that they've left me a card as to where to pick up the package. Except...no. So I call the beloved 1800 number, punching the buttons through the automated system. "Do you have a problem with a trackable package that was not delivered? Press 2." *presses 2* silence. "Thank you for calling. Goodbye.". *click click* So I call back. Press through the same buttons... "Do you have a problem with a trackable package that was not delivered? Press 2." *presses 2* silence. "Thank you for calling. Goodbye.". *click click* INSERT RAGING GRUNT OF FRUSTRATION Call back again..."Would you like to speak with a customer service agent? Press the Number sign" *Presses the number sign* "No one is available to take your call. Goodbye." So I call the Howe Postal Depot, where my package supposedly has been left for me to pick up. It goes to a personal voicemail, which informs me "This person cannot be reached at the moment." So I call back and finally punch the right sequence of numbers to be put on hold for 10 minutes before being put through to a human. I explain my frustration and she tells me that the "notification card probably blew away, or someone took it.." you know..from inside my personal mailbox in our apartment building. Yeah, I hear it gets breezy in there. She tells me it's likely that my mail is "being held." I ask why that would happen, and her reply is, "oh..well..I don't know. Sometimes they just do that." "Oh, so it's arbitrary then?" "Yeah..sure. It's arbitrary." Sigh. I could go on. The conversation continued to deteriorate. They opened an "investigation number," which made me cringe. I've read stories of these investigation numbers.. *cough*danj*cough* and know that it means I will get nowhere and I'll get nowhere fast. My favourite part was the "Well, I'm not sure what you expect me to do about it.." response to my problem. I mean...really...I just want my damn birthday gifts and mail. I am definitely never coming back to this post office... I got there at 5:20PM and the doors were closed and locked, when it clearly said that their opening hours are until 5:30PM. The security officer saw me and opened the door and kindly apologized and told me they were still open. But when I got to the front desk one of the guys from the staff (short, bald, with glasses and not wearing a name tag) started rushing me and telling me how bad he wanted to go home. And kept reminding me that I had less than 5 minutes to fill up the address form on the package I needed to send. He actually told me to leave and come back tomorrow or go to London Drugs to send my package because he "REALLY wanted to go home"... Canadian Customers, PLEASE read- I have had every package with Canada Post go missing this month. I am beyond upset. Because they don't provide tracking for oversized letter mail and other low-cost mail services when it goes missing, there is NOTHING I can do. I have to ship USPS. I use Chit Chats Express which ships my parcels into the USA. It has tracking for only $1.00 more than Canada Post cheapest non-traceable service. It is crazy I have to do this, however with Canada Post Tracked ranges from $9.00 plus depending on location. I am so sorry and very disappointed in Canada Post as they have been zero help. I have had issues with them since 2014. I just can not continue to use such an unreliable service. It is unfair to the consumers and small business owners. read more

Canada Post delivered my parcel to a locked parcel locker in my apartment building. They neglected to provide me with a key to the parcel locker. I phoned customer support and requested they provide a key so I could access my parcel. Instead, they sent the parcel back to the sender and said it was an incorrect address. If I could give Canada Post zero stars I would. Use some other method for parcel delivery. Canada Post sucks! read more

I am basing this on an entire company and since there isn't a general listing, I am listing my complain here after numerous attempts at contacting head office in hopes that this will get some resolution and or answers. CP used to be my go to place, especially since I used to send over 12 ebay packages a week and this was my go to location. They cancelled without notice the Canada to US surface mail package substituting it with air only charge 3 - 4 times as much. The reason why my ebay customers came to me is 'cause I had reasonable shipping and Canadian exclusives that people both in the US and UK wanted for their collection. Paying $5 - $7 was reasonable for them, not $21 - $25 shipping on a CD. Most aren't in a rush, therefore, surface was more than fine. I have tried contacting CP and looking up information on-line to get an explanation as to why they got rid of this option...no one way able to give me an explanation nor can I find anything on-line. I heard on CKNW that CP is losing money. Wouldn't eliminating the surface US mail isolate customers more? I have a post box is in the US and since most of my customers are in the US it is now cheaper for me to ship out of country. If CP are hurting for sales, this step is really not helping them and whomever made this decision needs to be fired ASAP for this bad corporate decision. read more

I used to work in Music and would need to mail press kits a lot. Needed to send a package to Alberta last week and I waited 40 minutes for their computer to "load"? I ended up leaving, but not before I had to spend another $5 on merch because I had already prepared my parcel in one of their bubble wrap packages. I am not writing this from the experience of one error. I really don't mind when people have tech issues. This is the build up years of frustrating experiences. One time I had to mail two express packages to NY on a deadline. No one at Canada Post told me they were on strike and the packages never ended up arriving. I spent about a month back and forth with customer care and nothing came out of it. I can't remember the last time I had a successful experience with them. My review is only for 1 specific employee. We moved locations but weren't occupying the new building till renovations were complete. We tried for 6 weeks to get our mailbox key from the Canada Post telephone customer service team but the postcard with the number needed to pick up the key never came. The customer service telephone team was a disaster! I have a packaging sitting in Montreal since the 16 th of October. It was picked up on the 13 th of October going to Ottawa. It was sent by expedited parcel from Toronto. Now with that del service there is no guarantee but it is supposedly faster than regular mail, and if the shipper has an account , the del service is usually four or five days. My shipper has an account and the information about the shipping comes from Canada Posts website. I opened a service ticket a week ago, and no response, so this time I called the 800 number opened another ticket and contacted the shipper who said they would also investigate. I understand things that can happen and be over looked, but you would think someone would check that package after two weeks of it sitting somewhere, and the service desk should be looking into calls. So CP says we should have an answer for you in 5 days. If I had my way, well I would be using another company to del my packages but unfortunately that is an economic decision made by the shipper for the obvious reasons. read more

Just thought I would keep those interested in my daily battles with Canada Post humoured by a quick update. I stopped in again on Friday after work, since the lady on Wednesday said I should try again tomorrow cuz maybe the little room would be open where I could pick up my mail. I arrived at the same time I did on Wednesday and once again, it was closed. I stood in line (again) at the postage purchasing area, where once again I was told that it was closed and they could not retrieve my mail. This time however, they told me I need to come before 4:30. First of all, why didn't they tell me this the first time I came by? Instead of "maybe it will be open tomorrow?" Secondly, I work until 4:30, and I can't make it here until 4:40, and since you are refusing to deliver to my building, can't you leave the mail pickup area open for other postal workers to retrieve my mail? I am sure I'm not the only one in my building who is having trouble working out a time when its convenient for Canada Post to give us our mail. Anyways, the lady at the counter, said she would go check to see if they had locked up all of our mail already for the day. She came back empty handed and said there was no mail for me. No mail huh? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Uh, okay, I'm sure in the last week+ there hasn't been one bill delievered to my address. Sure..... So I decided I would come back on Monday to see how many letters were delivered to me on Monday since Friday evening I had no mail at all. At 10am this morning, I picked up my mail and there were 14 letters! Wow! Those bill collectors sure must have been busy over the weekend making sure that all of their statements were in the mail to me so I could get them on Monday morning. I strongly urge people not to use Canada Post for international services. My package of documents was not only delivered four days late to a US city, it was immediately put in motion to be returned to me, the sender, because a signature was required. I did not ask that a signature be required. I have looked at my waybill and there is nowhere indicating that a signature is required. Not only that, I had checked off 'abandon' as the undeliverable option, yet they were determined to get it back to me at my expense. Fortunately the recipients went to a main postal depot and managed to get just before it was returned to Canada. So in the end it was successfully delivered, although late and with inconvenience. If I track the item now--it shows that it was successfully returned to me, the sender! What nonsense. Canada Post claims that a refund is issued if the item is delivered late and a premium service is used such as Expresspost. So do I get a refund? No. They claim that the item was held up in customs in the US. Not their fault. I'll bet they use that one every single time. I've never heard of documents being held in customs before when sent by by UPS or FedEx. Not once and I've shipped a lot of documents. This is not my first issue with Canada Post. But it is the last time I use their service. If you want to look professional when sending documents, stick to FedEx. read more

I recently got mail from Canada Post.. Someone had opened my mail and read it and as well I got it sent back in a clear plastic bag... This mail is a very personal mail where it contains personal information bank , ID number etc. So it says on the bag I can call if I have any concerns.. so I called...
