I was fetching bubble tea from Comebuy and noticed that downtown Markham has a Canada Post. Nice!…read more This post office occupies the space where TD Canada Trust used to be. The automatic doors were too sensitive when it was a bank. I'd round the corner, fairly far from the entrance, and the doors would open for me. Nooo! This post office location is closed on weekends. It was nice walking by the main entrance this evening without the doors opening up. It's street parking. I normally don't have difficulty finding a spot. However, if you can't find anything, you can park where the condos are just north of this Canada Post. There are marked visitor spots. I looked through the glass like the curious person that I am. If you are renting a mailbox, you have access to it at all hours. There are many boxes and sizes, depending on your needs. There are parcel boxes that require a key to access a box. There's also a mailbox that built into the wall. Current hours of operation are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. It's like it's still a bank! It's closed on statutory holidays. It's Victoria Day tomorrow, so there's no postal services here, for instance. It's a nice addition to Markham to have a standalone Canada Post. Most of the time, you have one within either a Shoppers Drug Mart or something different, like a gift shop at Warden and Highway 7. I dig it this new Canada Post. I can't wait to check it out when it's open on a weekday. (156)

This review is for their 420 Hwy 7 location…read more If i could give zero stars to this location I would, Made the mistake of going to this location which is located within a pharmacy on 27Apr 0945. Only 1 customer at counter when I arrived so I thought OK it won't be a lenghty wait, boy was I wrong. The staff behind the counter proceeded to spend the next 15mins talking to the customer/friend about their pet birds and carpeting. My friend loudly stated "why is this taking so long", they totally ignored the comment and proceeded to continue their converstation when the customer line grew longer. As I understand it, this staff is not a government worker but actually is a staff of the pharmacy of this location (probably a relative, nepotism rears it's ugly head). Based on similar customer reviews of this horrendous staff with no concept/caring of customer service, how can the owner allow this to continue type of poor service to contine. I should have taken a photo of this staff but it's only one staff so you know who you are, how can you go to sleep at night knowingly inconvenienceing customers, shameful. The pharmacy management should be put on blast. I would recommend you look up the definition of customer service and practice in front of a mirror until you get it right

All have been easy and quick and I'm an old grump who prefers things to be quick and simple. Even the lineups have moved quickly. On my last visit to the counter, I was made aware of a shipping discount I would have otherwise missed - very helpful (and friendly) staff indeed.

However, like that saying about one bad apple... there is an older man (I would never use the word gentleman), who I believe may be named Dave, but I'm not sure and he is, for lack of a better word, offensive to say the least. I have lived next to and shopped weekly for over 15 years at this Shoppers Drug Mart location, including picking up all my prescriptions. Today I was in picking up a few things and noticed vitamins on sale and decided to try them. At the checkout they came up at a different price so the lovely lady at the cash went and checked and agreed they were on sale. They were on the very top shelf so it was difficult to see or read the tag and honestly due to my eyesight I would need a ladder and my reading glasses to get close enough to read all the print on the shelf tag. The lady on the cash mentioned to the older man about the price discrepancy and he went off to check. When he came back, he yelled at me in front of the line of people, one of them who lives in my building, that they were not on sale and accused me of changing the price tag. I was shocked and absolutely horrified. I have never done anything like that, and I never would. I was so upset I almost started to cry, which I did when I got home. I am now too embarrassed and traumatized to set foot in that store again, and I am so embarrassed to see neighbours in my building, who now think I am capable of doing something like that thanks to this horrible human being. I am not even sure what to do about picking up my medication. I feel like I need to write to the Shoppers Drug Mart head office, not that it would probably do any good, but no one should be treated like this, I'm devastated.

In general, I really like Shoppers Drug Mart. Because this location is smaller than most, they…read moredon't carry all the items I want. For example, their selection of food is extremely limited. On more than one occasion, the cashier is missing in action. I've rung the bell but the cashier doesn't materialize quickly or apologize when she finally shows up. I like that they offer a 20% discount on regular priced items every Thursday to anyone 55 and older with a PC optimum card. However, many items are sale priced on Thursdays (usually less than 20% off) so the seniors discount is not applicable. They have a post office at the back which is handy for free Amazon pickups. There's lots of parking in this busy parking lot.

Markham Civic Centre is one of them. I think of Markham Civic Centre as Markham's City Hall. I've come here for a bunch of different services and events since I became a Markhamite twice (first time moving here with my parents and my current stint since returning to the GTA from Winnipeg many moons ago). During my undergraduate years, I came here with a friend who wanted to get a marriage licence. He didn't want to try getting one in Toronto, so we came here instead. It was fairly easy to get one. You can also get married here if you wanted to! Back in the late 2000's, another friend felt bad missing my birthday, which was sweet. It wasn't a huge deal to me. She took me to my first Markham Ribfest. It was held at Markham Civic Centre. I will say that it was a weird setup. Markham Ribfest needed a bigger venue. The ribfest vendors fit here just fine. However, parking was an issue. The lot is decent for regular visitors during business hours. It can't handle massive crowds for events that go into the evening. We actually parked across the street in front of the No Frills and walked over. I will say that this event was my first ribfest and it was awesome! I love going to any ribfest that I can during the summertime. During this period, maybe before ServiceOntario supported health card renewals, I had to get my photo taken for my Ontario health card at Markham Civic Centre. The building was specific, but I got there just fine. My photo was taken and all was great. Since then, I have always hit a ServiceOntario location to have my photo taken when I need a new one for my driver's licence or Ontario health card. I'm not sure why the photoshoot happened here. I'm glad that I got my photo taken somewhere! During the wintertime, you can skate here for free. It's not as elaborate as a setup that you get at Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square with a place to rent your skates, music, a snack stand, and so on. You simply bring yourself and your skates, and have at it. In the summertime, this artificial skating rink becomes a lovely water fountain. It's nice to sit down and admire it. I'm happy that Markham Civic Centre exists. I don't frequent it as much as I should, but it's there when I need services or just want to be a tourist in my backyard. (494)

Cons - Time: be mindful that you have a maximum of 60 minutes. The following wedding that was hosted afterwards commenced shortly after we were through. - Inconvenient: to book the space, you need to come to city hall twice during business hours to arrange a time and confirm. This isn't the easiest to do if you have a 9-5.
