The only place I'll go for a mammogram. After a few horrible experiences elsewhere I was relieved to find this centre.

My experience is noted in 2 categories, staff and doctor…read more The staff: no real complaints. Waiting for 30 or more minutes past my booked appointment time - likely more to do with the doctor than the staff. The doctor - lack of punctuality, manners, professionalism and effectiveness. His handling of my "bunion" surgery was a flop and caused more issues in the foot resulting in another surgeon needing to 're-do' the whole procedure and fix the new problem. When I tried to discuss the issues with him, he became agitated, defensive and abrupt. In the first meeting with him, he gave me a verbal picture and information about how my joint wasn't compromised so it would be a simpler procedure as he would only need to scrape tissue and the total time in a walking boot (cast) would be 5-6 weeks at which point I would be able to put my runners back on and do what I did before. Hogwash... I was 10.5 weeks in a cast and in to rehab. That's because he cut through my first metatarsal which was Never discussed. I learned about it because I obtained a copy of the post surgical xray. Weeks after surgery, to view the surgical site, (with dried blood in 4 layers of gauze) he grabbed the gauze and with one aggressive yank, ripped it off. One layer stayed stuck. While I was still holding my breath with a death grip on the chair he grabbed and repeated the same maneuver. Along with the gauze; adjacent to the incision; came a dime sized piece of skin which took longer to heal than the incision itself. There were more shocking behaviours from this man who appears to be credentialed but acts like he is not. RUN !

With yearly physicals (blood work, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, nutrition counseling, strength assessment) it's amazing! Yes, this is controversial for some…read more I support universal health care, but don't quite understand why it should come at a universal low standard. My dentist calls me every 4 months for a cleaning or checkup. When was the last time I had a blood test.?... 10 years! I know many have adequate medical care through established family practices via standard health care, but some don't. I did not. I think I knew something was not right and when I couldn't arrange a standard medical exam through my MD (after 1 year of trying and two misconnects) then I signed up for Copeman. After the intake questions and battery of exams and tests, it was found that essentially everything was off the charts. I was actually in pretty bad shape. Fortunately things were found early enough, I received some expert advice, and was able to get some lifestyle choices turned around before it was too late. The actual facility is centrally located, has easy off-street parking with nice (modern and clean!) offices and waiting room. There are nutritionists, physiotherapists, exercise kinesiologists, nurses, lab staff and counsellors available, but most importantly, physicians who actually take their hand off of the door handle when they talk to you. For lab tests, samples are all taken on site. This is the way health care should be. It is not luxurious, unless you compare it to the standard squalid waiting rooms at physicians' offices, usually located in dilapidated medical buildings with antique furnishings and equipment from the 60s. How we have come to accept the current state as acceptable is bewildering to me. While I feel a twinge of liberal guilt about the whole thing, this is a complicated issue with no easy answers. I was not willing to die waiting for politicians and government to figure it out. At $4K/ first year and $2.5K/year following (there are also family plans), it is certainly not for everyone. I am a supporter, and while this kind of service is not the answer to our current delivery problems, it just might be part of the solution.

They may not have had a lot of equipment, but there was a good variety of quality machines and weights. They also had towels to wipe down machines and a hamper for you to place them afterwards. Lots of older people as well as a number of younger people. There's a good mix from the community. There are no curtains in the shower so get used to that yet they had dressing rooms?! Also, you have to pay a quarter to use the lockers. I didn't see another option there, but maybe I missed it. Also, it's so cheap if you're visiting or bringing a friend. You can use the facilities for just $5 without signing anything.

As of lately, I have been using this facility for their fitness room. Some days during the week tend to be a bit busy, but there is usually always something you can use. The have at least 3 of every bike and treadmile and a 20 minute limit when it is busy which helps keep them circulating. When I went there, they were having some technically difficulties, and it took almost 20 minutes to set up my account, but that usually takes some time anyways. I really like in the fitness room, they have a cold filter water tape so you can refill your bottles as needed.
